Source: Prince Williams / Getty Well so much for that. 48 hours after Kevin Hart accepted the position as host of the 91st Academy Awards, he’s stepping down as host after anti-gay remarks he made on his Twitter account back in 2011 and his refusal to apologize for them. “I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past,” Hart wrote. He added seconds later, “I’m sorry the I hurt people. I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again.” I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I hope we can meet again. — Kevin Hart (@KevinHart4real) December 7, 2018 Earlier on Thursday, Hart said he received a call from the Academy giving him an ultimatum: Apologize for his old tweets or step down as Oscars host. “I chose to pass, I passed on the apology. The reason why I passed is because I’ve addressed this several times. This is not the first time this has come up. I’ve addressed it, I’ve spoken on it. I’ve said where the rights and wrongs were. I’ve said who I am now versus who I was then,” he said. “I’ve done it, I’ve done it. I’m not going to continue to go back and tap into the days of old. I’ve moved on, I’m in a completely different space in my life. The same energy that went into finding those old tweets, could be the same energy put into finding the response to the questions that have been asked years after years after years. “We feed internet trolls and reward them. I’m not going to do it, man. I’m going to be me, and I’m going to stand my ground,” Hart added. “Regardless, to the Academy, I’m thankful and appreciative of the opportunity. If it goes away, no harm, no foul.”

In 2017 alone, the U.S. was hit with multiple Category 4 or more hurricanes, including Hurricane Harvey (which hit parts of Texas and Louisiana), Hurricane Irma (which hit various Caribbean islands and parts of Florida) and Hurricane Maria (which hit various Caribbean islands, including Puerto Rico). Each hurricane has caused major displacement and devastation amongst residents, and now in 2018, parts of the Carolinas and Virginia have been tragically hit by Hurricane Florence. Relief efforts after each hurricane continues to be a challenge and our current commander-in-chief isn’t necessarily making things smoothers. Even though Donald Trump has made appearances to places hit hard by hurricanes, his insensitive rhetoric and just plain ridiculousness continues to make people wonder how this man became president. The View Apologizies for Insensitive Eating Disorder Jokes

Hmmm… perhaps NeNe Leakes was right about the women on The View. The reality star labeled Joy Behar and company a bunch of ” mean girls ” this week… and then Joy Behar and company went out and showed why this may be an accurate assessment. After discussing how both Donald Trump and Ben Carson both said they’ve lost weight while campaigning to be President, Behar, Michelle Collins and Paula Faris started joking around about who’s fat… who’s thin… and whether or not it’s an insult to be called “skinny.” The conversation was relatively harmless enough. Until it wasn’t. Following a commercial break, Behar said the following: “We were just discussing whether it’s better to become bulimic or anorexic backstage. What do you girls think?” Collins then replied “definitely bulimic [because] you get to enjoy the meal” and then proceeded to single out a woman off-camera. “She’s nodding. We have two bulimics here. They agree,” Collins added. It didn’t take long, as you might imagine, for viewers to hop on Twitter and excoriate the women for their insensitive remarks. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Have Struggled with Eating Disorders This prompted Behar to make a half-hearted apology upon returning from another commercial break. “We upset some people. We understand that bulimia is a serious illness. We’re just trying to have some fun over here,” she said. After Whoopi Goldberg chimed in and said they don’t “mean to offend” anyone, Behar concluded: “We don’t do it on purpose.” It’s a pretty rare thing for ignorance to be a worthwhile excuse, Joy. But you keep telling yourself that. Also, try to actually be funny the next time you want to be insensitive. That helps.

Rob Lowe: Slammed for Insensitive Paris Attack Tweet

In the immediate aftermath of terrorists coordinating multiple attacks in Paris on Friday night, killing over 120 people in the process, countless celebrities took to Twitter and sent along their prayers and well wishes. But not Rob Lowe. The actor, who currently stars on Fox sitcom The Grinder, took a far more controversial approach to the heinous killings. “Oh, NOW France closes its borders,” Lowe Tweeted yesterday, adding the hashtag #Hollande as a reference to French president Francois Hollande. The politician declared a state of emergency and closed off his country’s borders in the wake of the ongoing massacre on Friday. Lowe later added, regarding Hollande’s speech: “This is either the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given.” In a televised address to the country, Hollande (who was evacuated at halftime of a soccer match after explosions went off nearby) said: “As I speak, terrorist attacks of unprecedented proportions are underway in the Paris area. There are dozens killed, there are many injured. It is a horror “What the terrorists want is to scare us and fill us with dread. There is indeed reason to be afraid. “There is dread, but in the face of this dread, there is a nation that knows how to defend itself, that knows how to mobilize its forces and, once again, will defeat the terrorists.” View Slideshow: Paris Terrorist Attacks: Stars Send Prayers, Wishes After receiving considerable backlash for his insensitive message, Lowe eventually asked people not to “misinterpret” his words and offered a quasi apology: “Lived in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love.” On a related note, Khloe Kardashian sent out a Tweet that promoted her website last night, but then jumped online to explain. “I am sorry!” she wrote. “This tweet was a preschedule tweet that I arranged. I turned off the scheduled tweet but somehow it posted anyways. I’m sorry.”

Katy Perry Goes Off on "PERVERTED" Australian Paparazzi: Read Her Rant!

Katy Perry is not living a teenage dream on her current trip to Australia. In fact, like a firework, the singer has unleashed an explosive rant against members of so-called “press” Down Under. “Australian PRESS: You should be ashamed of your paparazzi & tabloid culture. Your paparazzi have no respect, no integrity, no character. NO HUMANITY,” Perry wrote. She then went on to explain the origin of this negative assessment: “I was stalked by many grown men today as I tried to take a quiet walk to the beach. These men would not stop as I pleaded over & over to let me have my space. Many other people stopped to try to help but the paps continued to laugh at me & hold their barrels up & shoot.” Perry, who rarely uses social media to do anything except show off her impressive boobs , wasn’t finished, either. “They told me to make a ‘deal’ with them. Give them a bathing suit shot and they would leave me be. This is PERVERTED & disgusting behavior that should NEVER be tolerated, especially by people who do NOT want this. “I will NEVER make a deal with paparazzi and I will not befriend anyone who perpetuates this kind of behavior.” The singer is on her on Prismatic world tour and began performing in Australia on November 7. Fortunately, Perry’s time Down Under wasn’t completely marred by this insensitive “journalists.” As seen above, she photo online of herself standing and smiling on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. “I DID IT,” she wrote on Instagram. “Finally, after all these years talkin bout it I done climbed your bridge tonight Sydney! Kourtney Kardashian cried over Scott Disick’s comments regarding her baby weight on Sunday’s episode of KKTM . But where her tears real or fake? In this installment of the reality show, which also featured a Kim Kardashian facial using human blood, Scott (or the character Scott plays) hit a new low. After Kourtney noted that this is the heaviest she’s ever been and how hard it is to lose the baby weight … he let her know that he’s not happy about it. For his sake. When Disick sees that his 5′ girlfriend weighs 115 pounds, he asks, “Do you know what you’re supposed to weigh for your average weight for your height?” Kourt estimated that she should probably weigh around 105, but says that she was likely 95 pounds when the couple first met, to which Scott laments: “Ugh, I feel like 93 is the dream ,” says her always eloquent baby daddy. “Your body was bangin’ when I first saw you on the beach with that little ass.” Kourtney was obviously not impressed by his insensitive remarks and called him “disgusting.” And soon enough, she was in tears, sobbing over this. Redskins Name Change: Proposed by Mayor Vincent Gray

With the Washington Redskins enjoying success for the first time in decades, there’s been talk in the nation’s capital of bringing the team’s home field back to D.C., as opposed to its current location in Maryland. But Mayor Vincent Gray has a condition if such a transfer were to take place: The team’s name will need to change. “I think it has become a lightning rod, and I would love to be able to sit down with the team… and see if a change should be made,” Gray said of the moniker many find offensive to Native Americans. “There’s a precedent for this, and I think there needs to be a dispassionate discussion about this, and do the right thing.” It’s true that many college mascots have acknowledged the insensitive nature of their mascots and made a change. Formerly Red Raiders, Colgate University athletes are now simply “Raiders.” But with fans of the squad arguing over the recent Robert Griffin III injury , do they really need another topic to debate?
