Southern Charm is no stranger to controversy — most notably the stunning rise and fall of Thomas Ravenel . This time, it’s Cameran Eubanks who’s been put in the hotseat. Not by police, but by her own followers. When she shared her opinion about vaccines, the backlash was so intense that she deleted her tweet — and apologized. On Thursday, Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks decided to encourage her followers to make responsible health decisions. She posted a photo of the bandage on her arm, announcing that she had just receive her flu vaccine for this year. Cameran then encouraged her fans and followers to do the same. It’s not just the right thing to do for themselves — it can help to protect others, including those with compromised immune systems. The backlash to her post was enough that she promptly deleted it. After deleting her post, she shared an undeserved apology message with her followers. “I just deleted a post that I made today about my belief in getting the flu shot,” she began. “Never did I think it would cause such a fuss,” she explains. A few years ago, it might not have. But thanks to internet algorithms, dangerous misinformation spreads like a virus. “I’m sorry to all I offended who don’t believe in vaccinating themselves and their children,” she writes. “If you do not vaccinate I do not think you are stupid or wrong,” Cameran generously claims. Not everyone would be so charitable in their assessment of people who endanger their children and others by believing falsehoods. “We just disagree,” she writes. “I have always said I will not talk about religion or politics on social media,” Cameran concludes. “And now I’m adding vaccines too.” This is not the first time that Cameran has been taken aback by an unexpected controversy. “Palmer had hers today,” Cameran shared about her 11-month-old. “I played baby shark and not even a whimper. Couldn’t believe it. God bless that annoying ass song!” Her Southern Charm costar, the incomparable Patricia Altschul, also posted on Thursday after she received her flu shot. “@caconover is right! I just had my flu shot and I can only walk backwards #southerncharm #medicine.” Craig Conover, everyone’s favorite formerly reformed playboy who talks like a frat guy, has some wild opinions about vaccines. He called them a “crazy government shot” that would force him to walk backwards for the rest of his life. Honestly, that’s not the worst thing that we’ve heard an anti-vaxxer say, but … that’s not saying much. Patricia was not the only one who leapt to Cameran’s defense. “Um your post literally reminded me to sign up for ours,” wrote one fan. “Appointments booked. Thank you for posting about it!” “It’s not a matter of belief or disbelief, nor opinion. It’s a matter of science and facts,” correctly asserted another fan. That comment continued: “Vaccines save lives and suffering and those who choose not to certainly have the right to that choice, but yeah, they are wrong.” “My family doesn’t get the flu shot,” wrote another commenter. “And I still found nothing wrong with your post!” Vaccinations aren’t just a personal decision — they help protect those with compromised immune systems through “herd immunity.” Someone whose immune system doesn’t function at full capacity cannot be vaccinated, so they are vulnerable to the flu — or something worse, like measles. But everyone with whom they come into contact is vaccinated, then they are insulated by the “herd” and less likely to be exposed to a contagion. As for the theories about vaccines being dangerous … some of that is misinformation, and some is fearmongering. (Personal note: I am one of the one-in-a-million people who had a strongly adverse reaction to a vaccination as an infant; the real virus would have been worse and I’m glad that I was vaccinated) Vaccines do not cause autism, but even if they did, we would all rather see a child be autistic than die of a preventable disease. PewDiePie has issued a mea culpa for being a misguided, insensitive, offensive moron. Three days after Demi Lovato was hospitalized for a drug overdose, the YouTube star thought it would be funny to make fun of the singer and her situation. How could it not be, right? This is a young woman who has batted self-esteem issues and mental health issues for years… who had admitted to having suicidal thoughts at the age of seven… and who nearly died after a night of hard and dangerous partying this week. Talk about prime material for a joke, right?!? Yes, according to PewDiePie. Shortly after news broke about Lovato’s overdose, PewDiePie (what kind of name is PewDiePie?!?) shared a meme online that depicted the trouble artist asking her mother for money in order to buy a burger. After receiving the money, however, Lovato turns around and buys heroin instead. Here is the since-deleted image: A couple of quick thoughts come to mind: FIRST, this simply isn’t funny. Like, at all. If you’re going to go out on an offensive limb to crack a joke, you better make sure it’s a funny joke. This is just dumb and non-sensical. (Why would Lovato need to borrow cash from her mother? The whole thing makes no sense.) SECOND, what the heck is wrong with you, PewDiePie?!? We weren’t the only ones asking this question, as the YouTuber was forced to take down his stupid meme and then issue a statement in the wake of severe backlash. “Deleted meme,” he wrote to start his apology, which concluded as follows: “I didnt mean anything with it and I didnt fully know about the situation. I realize now it was insensitive, sorry!” Please, dude. You knew that Lovato overdosed on heroin (it has since been reported that the substance actually was NOT heroin) and you went ahead and posted that meme. What misinterpretation about the situation are you claiming here? Lovato, tragically, was found unconscious by her assistant around 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. This assistant then dialed 911 (listen to the call HERE ) and paramedics revived the star prior to taking her to the hospital. It is believed that Demi will soon head to a treatment facility somewhere far away from Los Angeles, but this has not yet been confirmed by the singer or anyone close to her. It is simply what various anonymous insiders have reported. In the meantime, practically everyone in Hollywood has sent his or her best wishes, as an entire industry worries about a young woman who has been so open over the years about her substance abuse issues. Remember when Jenelle Evans first began dating David Eason, and lots of people were proud of her because they thought he was a good guy, or at least way better than the guys she’d been with before him? Boy, were they wrong. It’s kind of hard to imagine where people even got that idea to begin with, since he has a criminal record, was once in jail with Jenelle’s first husband, Courtland Rogers, and was only recently allowed to see his own son. Maybe because he’s so tall, some naive Teen Mom fans think he’s more mature? That’s the only thing we can come up with. Interestingly, Jenelle’s mother, the beloved Barbara Evans, has made it clear from the beginning that she thinks David is the worst person Jenelle’s ever been with . And he seems pretty intent on proving that lately. David and Jenelle got a whole lot of criticism last week when he shared a photo of her posing with a gun just a couple of hours after the news of the Florida shooting broke. She admitted that it was “bad timing,” but he refused to consider the possibility that perhaps the photo was a bit inappropriate, given the circumstances. Since then, he’s been going on and on about guns and gun control and guns guns guns. This morning, he shared a news story about the possibility of allowing those with concealed carry permits to bring guns onto school property, tweeting “It only makes sense to protect our kids the proper way… the only way we know how.” Someone replied, suggesting that instead of protecting our kids with guns, we protect them with “education,” and that it “starts with intentional parenting.” “No, you are wrong,” David wrote. “Please tell me sir, how do you propose we make all the people in America start being better parents? Or are you a monkeys uncle?” The same person suggested that David could start being a better parent by not “glorifying assault rifles” and by teaching his children “how to solve problems without calling people names or using force .” It’s great advice for him, right? But he really, really did not appreciate it. “And just what makes you think you have the right to tell me how to be a parent?” he responded. “Because you think you know me?” “Lmao why don’t you go tell the homo and transgender parents to start teaching their kids better morals? Oh I forgot that’s supposed to be normal.” Yep. He really tweeted that. Not only was that a hateful, offensive thing to say, but it’s also really embarrassing that David Eason thinks he is some kind of authority on parenting and good morals. Another person replied to that tweet, asking if David was going to teach his kids “to hate gay and transgender people.” “No, I’m going to teach them not to associate with them or be that way… If you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas,” he answered. He also referred to gay and transgender people as “abominations.” It’s all just really, truly awful, but it’s not over yet … because someone rightfully called David homophobic, and he responded with this: “Homophobic? You really lost it now, im not scared if sh-t especially a homo.” When another person called him homophobic, he repeated himself, writing that he “never said anything about being scared if homos.” Someone told David that they have a lesbian daughter, and that she’s a great person, something that he doesn’t seem to think is possible. He hit back with “Well if she is lesbian than she wont be able to have kids right? Or she could adopt some troubled children and confuse them even more right?” And if you’re wondering how ignorant one person can be, don’t worry, he really laid it all out for us with this next revelation. “We dont watch the news buddy,” he told one of his followers in the middle of all this. “90% of every story is fake just to grab your attention and keep you on the channel long enough to see commercials.” Fake news , right? Right?! All of these remarks have Teen Mom fans pushing harder than ever to get David kicked off the show — there are petitions going around, and people are sending screenshots of the tweets to MTV producers. Unfortunately, we don’t see anything happening on that front. If David was fired, it doesn’t seem possible that Jenelle would be able to keep on filming, and if Jenelle didn’t film, there would be no show. It hasn’t been easy keeping track of all the developments in Briana DeJesus’ life over the past few weeks, so here’s a brief recap of everything that’s transpired. It all started when Briana traveled to Miami to undergo plastic surgery. Despite the fact that she had broken up with Javi Marroquin just weeks earlier, Javi flew to Miami to be by her side and provide support in the days leading up to the procedure. Fans were stunned to see Javi all over Bri’s social media pages after what appeared to be a bitter breakup. But they were even more shocked when Javi took to social media to basically boast that he had “ditched” Briana after her surgery . And believe it or not, the plot twists didn’t end there. In the past week alone, two different rumors about Briana’s love life have captured the attention of Teen Mom Twitter. Some believe Briana is back with Dre , her ex who has gone to great lengths to keep his last name a secret. Others believe Briana is living with Devoin Austin , her baby daddy who’s been a constant subject of scorn for TM2 viewers. As far as we can tell, the latter rumor is true, while the former is BS. Briana is living with Devoin, but she’s just friends with Dre … we think. Either way, she apparently wishes Javi would simply keep his nose out of her business. Apparently, Javi noticed Bri’s recent Valentine’s Day posts and decided to give his ex a piece of his mind: “Javi needs to stop being bitter about the breakup and about Devoin and Dre. He texted me about why I got a teddy bear and why I got my nails done and why Devoin is living with me now,” Briana tells Radar Online. “He needs to stop harassing me and go worry about the relationship between Kailyn [Lowry] and him.” DeJesus goes on to say that she’s completely cut ties with Javi and plans to have no contact with him going forward: “I don’t want nothing to do with Javi,” she tells the outlet. “I am completely over it and ready to move the f–k on. If he continues to harass me, I will leak all texts and info.” Apparently in response to her allegations of harassment, Javi fired back with a series of tweets that he later deleted: “I have full conversations, but we don’t have to go there,” Javi tweeted, seemingly implying that he planned to release some texts of his own. “Y’all don’t know what’s going on. I don’t need to belittle or disrespect anyone. Just not in me anymore. I made that mistake once. I’ve lived and learned.” He ended the tweet storm with some words of wisdom for his fans: “Stay silent. The real ones around you know what’s good. Those that make noise want attention. That’s how I live my life now,” he tweeted. We hope Javi’s able to follow his own advice, but something tells us this situation is far from over. Industrial Revolution style. By the same token, when you’re a titan of history, you never go out of style, are we right?! If you got you a national monument, ’nuff said. Take the first President of the U.S., George Washington. He led a rebellion over Great Britain, then oversaw the birth of a new nation. Four score and seven years later, Abraham Lincoln valiantly preserved and paved the way for a more perfect union against long odds. Overcoming similarly huge obstacles, redefining what was possible and then fighting to preserve it, both patriots delivered for America. In their respective eras and now, giants among men. Ones who make all of our lives seem more than a tad mundane and pointless all of a sudden. Kind of sad if you stop and think about it. Anyway, comparing achievements and legacies by people in such rarefied air is impossible … but we can at least pick a fashion winner. Would you rather rock George’s 18th Century Colonial garb or Abe’s 19th Century Civil War-era attire? Talk about the toughest of calls. Make it. It’s your duty as an American.
Forgive the mixed sports metaphor, but Fergie really wishes she could have a mulligan on her NBA All-Star Game national anthem performance. The artist made headlines for all the wrong reasons on Sunday night after she donned a sexy dress and then belted out some kind of sultry rendition of our nation’s theme song. Pretty much every single person who heard this version of the Star-Spangled Banner laid into it. Hard. We mean it, too: Every. Single. Person. Heck, even Roseanne Barr claimed her disrespectful and disastrous performance way back in 1990 was better than whatever Fergie was trying to accomplish. We disagree with that assessment. But the general point remains: This was a baffling and bizarre rendition by Fergie. Take a look and take a listen for yourself if you have not already done so: Fergie National Anthem: The Worst of All-Time? In the wake of universal panning across the Internet, Fergie has taken a step we can’t ever recall an artist taking after he or she performed a less-than stellar anthem: She’s come out and apologized. “I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” she said in a statement first published by TMZ. The statement continued: “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.” Pretty impressive, right? Many stars over the years have attempted to put their own spin on this legendary song by holding certain notes for a long period of time or emphasizing certain lyrics. Fergie likely thought she would attempt something similar. She just lacks the vocal range to pull anything too unique off with her range, so she went the seductive route instead. It failed miserable, as evidenced by the Tweets below… … but it’s hard not to admire Fergie for admitting it and for taking responsibility for it. And we certainly never thought for a second that Fergie had anything but love for the United States. At various points, the Black Eyed Pea seemed to struggle to hit notes, although she closed out the tune with an impressive vibrato, telling the arena at the very end: “Let’s play some basketball!” Thankfully, the All-Star Game itself was so competitive that some people forgot all about Fergie’s opening fail.
