Kathryn Dennis: I’m a Domestic Violence Survivor. This is My Story.

Over the past several weeks, each time we’ve written about Kathryn Dennis, it’s been in relation to Thomas Ravenel. That’s what happens when you share two kids with the lead of a Bravo reality show… … and then that lead gets accused of sexual assault by two women . In this case, however, we’re here to talk about the Southern Charm star and a different man from her past. We don’t know his name. But we do know that this individual sadly has had a major impact on Dennis’ life. On Sunday evening, the 27-year old posted both the following image on Instagram and included with it a lengthy message about how she is a surivor of domestic abuse. Dennis proceeded to tell her story via this social media platform, prefacing the emotional post with a caption that reads: “This is my past, perfectly put…. worth the read. This is the real aftermath.” The reality star then went into painful detail as follows: I spend a lot of time thinking about those questions. I never saw myself in these situations and neither did anyone else. I had strong opinions, a sharp mind, and an independent spirit. But before I knew it, I was left with a broken spirit, mixed opinions, and an anxious and uncertain mind. I didn’t know who I was anymore. Dennis never names her abuser. She doesn’t get into specifics about the incident or incidents, either. Instead, she focuses more on the effects this experience has had on her life — and continues to have on her life. It was the deepest, darkest secret I kept. And this wasn’t about any particular situation/relationship as much as it was my relationship with men. It ran deep and dark, and I never realized the impact it had on myself and on my self-worth. In these depths of despair, I couldn’t see a way out of this cycle. It seemed anywhere I turned pushed me further and further away from getting to a safe place physically, mentally, and emotionally. I looked around and within and realized that my self-worth had been damaged long before I even realized it was possible. This made me really question myself. And this is how Dennis concludes: Was it me? Was this normal behavior, and I was the one in the wrong? I knew deep down inside that wasn’t the case, but I was stuck in quicksand being guided by those who kept my head above, but my feet locked in. Powerful stuff, no? Tragically, there are millions of women out there who can relate to most everything Dennis describes here. She went on to share a handful of memes, such as the ones below: Kathryn’s revelation about her past trauma with domestic violence comes just weeks after her ex-boyfriend, Ravenel, was arrested for second degree assault and battery . The ex-Bravo personality was taken into custody on charges related to sexual assault claims made by his former nanny, Dawn, who cared for his and Kathryn’s two kids, Kensington, 4, and Saint Julien, 2, years ago. Ugly stuff all around. Very unfortunately for Dennis, it sounds like she may have more challenging times ahead as a result. View Slideshow: Southern Charm: How Much Are the Stars Paid?

Jill Duggar Offers Lame Parenting Advice, Gets Roasted on Instagram!

The Duggars really enjoy offering parenting advice to their fans. We're sure some folks appreciate this tendency, but it seems that just as many resent the unsolicited counsel. After all, the Duggars could really benefit from tending to their own backyard, so when they get a tad too preachy, their fans are often quick to call them out. This phenomenon took place in a big way this week, when Jill Duggar offered up some painfully obvious insights on parenting on her Instagram page.   1. Jill the Mom Jill is a mother of two, and she obviously takes parenting very seriously. She homeschools her kids and loves to share parenting tips on social media. 2. Helping or Hurting? Some fans find Jill’s tips helpful, while others feel that she tends to be a bit preachy while offering advice that’s already well-known to most parents. 3. Obvious Child Recently, Jill posted a new post on her blog about the importance of allowing children to play outside. 4. Yes, Really Apparently, Jill is under the impression that “let them play outside” is some sort of groundbreaking approach to parenting. 5. Jill Needs to Chill Needless to say, fans weren’t exactly blown away with Jill’s helpful hints. And many of them were quick to let her know that. 6. Sarcastic “Wow!” “A friend of ours called recently to check in,” Jill wrote. “She said that when her girls were little and her husband was in school she would take her littles outside and give them a ball to play with and that they’d play for quite awhile before she brought them home, tired and ready for bed.” View Slideshow

Cameran Eubanks: Southern Charm Star Apologizes For Vaccine-Related Comments

Southern Charm is no stranger to controversy — most notably the stunning rise and fall of Thomas Ravenel . This time, it’s Cameran Eubanks who’s been put in the hotseat. Not by police, but by her own followers. When she shared her opinion about vaccines, the backlash was so intense that she deleted her tweet — and apologized. On Thursday, Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks decided to encourage her followers to make responsible health decisions. She posted a photo of the bandage on her arm, announcing that she had just receive her flu vaccine for this year. Cameran then encouraged her fans and followers to do the same. It’s not just the right thing to do for themselves — it can help to protect others, including those with compromised immune systems. The backlash to her post was enough that she promptly deleted it. After deleting her post, she shared an undeserved apology message with her followers. “I just deleted a post that I made today about my belief in getting the flu shot,” she began. “Never did I think it would cause such a fuss,” she explains. A few years ago, it might not have. But thanks to internet algorithms, dangerous misinformation spreads like a virus. “I’m sorry to all I offended who don’t believe in vaccinating themselves and their children,” she writes. “If you do not vaccinate I do not think you are stupid or wrong,” Cameran generously claims. Not everyone would be so charitable in their assessment of people who endanger their children and others by believing falsehoods. “We just disagree,” she writes. “I have always said I will not talk about religion or politics on social media,” Cameran concludes. “And now I’m adding vaccines too.” This is not the first time that Cameran has been taken aback by an unexpected controversy. “Palmer had hers today,” Cameran shared about her 11-month-old. “I played baby shark and not even a whimper. Couldn’t believe it. God bless that annoying ass song!” Her Southern Charm costar, the incomparable Patricia Altschul, also posted on Thursday after she received her flu shot. “@caconover is right! I just had my flu shot and I can only walk backwards #southerncharm #medicine.” Craig Conover, everyone’s favorite formerly reformed playboy who talks like a frat guy, has some wild opinions about vaccines. He called them a “crazy government shot” that would force him to walk backwards for the rest of his life. Honestly, that’s not the worst thing that we’ve heard an anti-vaxxer say, but … that’s not saying much. Patricia was not the only one who leapt to Cameran’s defense. “Um your post literally reminded me to sign up for ours,” wrote one fan. “Appointments booked. Thank you for posting about it!” “It’s not a matter of belief or disbelief, nor opinion. It’s a matter of science and facts,” correctly asserted another fan. That comment continued: “Vaccines save lives and suffering and those who choose not to certainly have the right to that choice, but yeah, they are wrong.” “My family doesn’t get the flu shot,” wrote another commenter. “And I still found nothing wrong with your post!” Vaccinations aren’t just a personal decision — they help protect those with compromised immune systems through “herd immunity.” Someone whose immune system doesn’t function at full capacity cannot be vaccinated, so they are vulnerable to the flu — or something worse, like measles. But everyone with whom they come into contact is vaccinated, then they are insulated by the “herd” and less likely to be exposed to a contagion. As for the theories about vaccines being dangerous … some of that is misinformation, and some is fearmongering. (Personal note: I am one of the one-in-a-million people who had a strongly adverse reaction to a vaccination as an infant; the real virus would have been worse and I’m glad that I was vaccinated) Vaccines do not cause autism, but even if they did, we would all rather see a child be autistic than die of a preventable disease. Kim Zolciak: HUGE Don’t Be Tardy Pay Raise Revealed!

When we went through the list of what The Real Housewives of Atlanta get paid , we mentioned that Kim Zolciak is busy doing her own thing. Housewives salaries are notoriously hefty, but Kim is making more than most of them for Don’t Be Tardy . And she just got a major raise. Take a look: “Kim is now making $125,000 per episode,” an insider reveals to RadarOnline . That is … a lot of money to make at all, let alone for a single episode. (Though we will acknowledge that it can take days, and dozens of hours of filming, to produce even one episode of a reality show, just as with scripted television) There are reportedly 12 episodes, but don’t worry, we won’t make you do math. The source continues: “which comes out to $1.5 million for the season.” The report continues, saying that Kim isn’t the only one who’s making bank. “And Brielle got a raise too,” the insider announces. The source says that: “Now she’s making $16,000 an episode.” Again, neither we nor this inside source are going to make you ask your phone to do this math. All told, Brielle will be “pulling in $192,000 for this season.” Earlier this year, some feared that this season might never be completed. Kim and Brielle were accused of racism , and that did not go over well at all. They even stopped filming in protest. But that protest may have been a ploy to increase their salary … and it worked. “Kim and Brielle negotiated more money,” the insider explains. Filming resumed, the source adds, “and they got a raise.” Kim and Brielle aren’t the only ones who are getting paid more. “While Kroy was playing football, he didn’t want or need to be paid much by the show,” the insider prefaces. “After he was out of the NFL,” the source continues. “He renegotiated his deal to become an executive producer.” “And,” the insider shares. “He got the same deal for Kim.” Well, good for both of them! “That way,” the source explains. “They can get more money from Bravo and the production company.” That is good thinking. Fame can be glamorous. The idea of being a reality star can be extremely appealing to some people on its own merits. But, at the end of the day, like most jobs — like almost every job — being a reality star is about getting paid. Kim Zolciak is a big name reality star. She’s raking in money to match. Though she’s still not making as much as NeNe Leakes. In her personal life, Kim recently got a breast reduction to reduce her mega-boobs to a more normal-sized large boobs. Kim turned 40 last spring, and she was really feeling the weight — literally — of her breasts, and decided that they weren’t worth back problems. That is her choice because it is her body. Also, all boobs are awesome. We can’t imagine that a simple boob job is going to tank her career. View Slideshow: The Real Housewives of Atlanta: How Much Are the Stars Paid?

Jessa Duggar to Fan: Stop LYING About My Family!

Whether they’re handed down by God or Jim Bob, rules are what make the Duggar family tick. Even if you’re a casual fan, you’re probably familiar with the Duggar courtship rules , the dress code, and the bizarrely regimented lifestyle that governs life on the compound. Some of these rules are expressed openly. For example, many episodes of Counting On have featured various members of the massive Duggar clan explaining the many things they’re not allowed to do prior to marriage. (The list of what’s not permitted is much, much longer than the list of what’s allowed.) But there are other rules that are shrouded in mystery. Take, for example, the Duggar policy regarding social media accounts. It’s long been rumored that Duggars who are not either married, engaged or courting are not allowed to post on social media. It was widely assumed that it was for that reason that the still-single Jana Duggar doesn’t have a social media account. This became a matter of public discussion when Jessa Duggar posted the above photo of her sister earlier this week. “I think their family has their own rule that they can’t have their own social media until they are in a relationship,” one fan commented. Jessa was having none of that talk, and she was quick to cement her place as the most outspoken Duggar daughter by immediately clearing the air: “It’s not a rule, it’s just coincidence,” Jessa responded, adding a laughing emoji to make it clear she’s not taking the situation too seriously. Of course, that emoji also served to confuse the issue a bit. Is Jessa really saying that it’s just a coincidence that Michelle and Jim Bob’s kids start social media accounts only after they’ve announced their courtships? Is she actually suggesting it’s a pure coincidence that Jana is the only adult Duggar without any social media presence, and she also happens to be the only one who’s single? We have a hard time with that one, but we doubt the Duggars really care. It’s always been sort of understood that part of what the family offers is wholesome fiction, and fans seem okay with that arrangement. J.D. Madison: Alleged Victim of Southern Charm Star is Facing Threats

In August, Southern Charm star J.D. Madison was accused of sexual assault . The details of the allegations are … heinous. Another man was implicated, and it is that man’s actions that are bringing this case back into the spotlight. He is now accused of having shown up at the victim’s house and threatening her. J.D. Madison is accused of having drugged a woman and of having raped her once she lost consciousness. According to FITSNews , another man implicated in the assault, chiropractor Jay Schwartz, showed up at the unnamed victim’s home. “I’ve been trying to contact you,” he reported told her while standing at her doorway. He then apparently said: “I want to talk to you about what happened that night.” Instead of leaving when he realized that he was unwelcome, he apparently told her that he “has the messages from that night.” To make matters worse, when the woman tried to close her door, Jay allegedly placed his hand between the door and frame, propping the door open. It is at this point that he allegedly repeated what he had told her. Once he had finally departed, the woman contacted police — which is absolutely the right thing to do under those circumstances. Police then went to Schwartz’s home and asked him about the encounter. He reportedly agreed with the woman’s “assessment of their conversation.” Police then returned to her home where they gave her a copy of the No Trespassing order that had been issued to Schwartz. Truth be told, an instruction to not trespass on someone’s property is a very mild response, considering the circumstances. A man implicated in the drugging and sexual assault of a woman then showing up at that woman’s home and preventing her from closing her door? That sounds like a terrifying ordeal. It also sounds like a court could interpret it as witness tampering or witness intimidation. Southern Charm fans cannot help of being reminded that J.D. Madison’s good buddy Thomas Ravenel was recently arrested . Ravenel was arrested for assault and battery, and those who have connected the dots believe that the charges stem from the allegations by Nanny Dawn. She is one of two women who have accused Ravenel of sexual assault. Others have accused him of alarming behavior, saying that he seems like a perfect gentleman … right up until he becomes someone else altogether. Thomas Ravenel will not be returning to Southern Charm for Season 6. J.D. Madison was never a star of Southern Charm in the way that Ravenel was. Instead, Madison had a recurring role — but that role was ongoing for the first five seasons of the series. Some are asking if reality television in particular has a problem — if there is something about the genre that makes bad men gravitate towards it. We understand the arguments, but we are not so sure. Maybe, as more men are coming to realize, there are just a lot of terrible, predatory men out there. Not most men, but too many. Perhaps some of them being reality stars is just a statistical inevitability. View Slideshow: Southern Charm: How Much Are the Stars Paid?
