George Zimmerman’s Defense Team Requests A New Trial Judge Former self-appointed neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman is now requesting a new judge be appointed to handle his murder trial. George Zimmerman, accused of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, filed a motion on Friday to disqualify the judge that will preside over his case, citing his fear that he will not be given a fair trial. Zimmerman, via his attorney, Mark O’Mara, filed the 17-page document with the Seminole County Circuit Court. The motion is a response to Judge Kenneth Lester’s July 5 order that set $1 million bail for Zimmerman and claimed that Zimmerman had “flaunted the system” and practiced “deception upon the court.” It was the second time Lester granted Zimmerman bail. Lester revoked a previous $150,000 bail in April after prosecutors presented evidence that Zimmerman and his wife misled the court about how much money they had available by speaking in code on phone calls. Prosecutors added that Zimmerman initially lied about the existence of a second passport. O’Mara recently tried to appeal to the judge that Zimmerman was confused and fearful back in March when the alleged deception occurred. In a second bond hearing in June, O’Mara reiterated that Zimmerman had voluntarily turned himself in to the court and now was completely open regarding his financial ability. Lester, however, in that July 5 bail order, remained skeptical of Zimmerman’s motives and expressed irritation at being lied to. He accused Zimmerman of manipulating the court and even suggested that if Zimmerman had the opportunity he would have fled prosecution. In Friday’s motion, O’Mara wrote that Lester’s order was indicative of a bias against Zimmerman, saying that the judge’s statements were “disingenuous, self-serving manipulations.” First you want out of jail, now you want a new judge. This dude sure has a lot of “requests” for a murderer who’s out on bail. What’s next? Smh. Source
Lawyers for George Zimmerman, the killer of Trayvon Martin, will ask a judge to release him from jail again after Zimmerman’s bail was revoked last week. The announcement comes as Zimmerman, 28, returns to a cell in the Seminole County jail in central Florida, after a circuit court judge revoked his bond. Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. yanked his $150,000 bond, posted in April, after prosecutors said both he and his wife had lied about their financial status. Free on bail or not, he faces trial on second-degree murder charges . They had failed to tell the court about at least $135,000 that anonymous donors had contributed to help bankroll Zimmerman’s legal defense in the case. “Mr. Zimmerman knew a sum had been raised … we feel the failure to disclose these funds was caused by fear, mistrust and confusion,” his lawyers said. “The gravity of this mistake has been directly illustrated, and [Zimmerman] understands this has undermined his credibility, which he will have to work to repair.” They also withheld one of two valid passports issued in George Zimmerman’s name, prosecutors said at a hearing. The judge pulled his bail as a result. The murder case has grabbed widespread media attention and sparked debate about U.S. race relations, profiling, media, guns and self-defense laws. Defense lawyers said in a statement posted on their website on Monday that Zimmerman, who went into hiding because of death threats after his previous release on bond, was unfairly “thrust into the national spotlight as a racist murderer.” The motion to re-post bail is expected to be filed Tuesday.
George Zimmerman Surrenders Is In Florida Jail Cell Hopefully this shady, lying fawk will be locked up for a minute before he goes to trial: George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch volunteer charged with murder in the killing of Trayvon Martin, surrendered to police Sunday and was booked into a central Florida jail two days after his bond was revoked. Zimmerman’s legal team said in a tweet Sunday afternoon that he was in police custody. Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester revoked Zimmerman’s bond on Friday, saying the defendant and his wife had lied to the court in April about their finances so he could obtain a lower bond. About 40 minutes before the 2:30 p.m. Sunday deadline to surrender, the Seminole County jail website listed Zimmerman as an inmate. He was being held without bail and had $500 in his jail account, the website showed. Seminole County Sheriff Donald Eslinger said Zimmerman turned himself in to two sheriff’s office employees around 1:25 p.m. near the jail, and was then driven there. Zimmerman arrived in a white minivan and did not respond to questions from reporters as he walked inside, handcuffed and wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a button-down shirt. “He is quiet and cooperative,” Eslinger said at a news conference after Zimmerman’s surrender. The sheriff’s office said the 28-year-old Zimmerman would be in a cell by himself, separated from the general population, because the case is so high-profile. The 67-square-foot cell is equipped with a toilet, two beds, a mattress, a pillow, a blanket and bed sheets. Zimmerman will not have access to a TV. Prosecutors said last week that Zimmerman and his wife told the judge at a bond hearing in April that they had limited money, even though he had raised about $135,000 through a website set up for his legal defense. They suggested more has been collected since and deposited in a bank account. Defense attorneys say the matter is a misunderstanding. The judge said Friday he would schedule a hearing after Zimmerman was back in custody so he could explain himself. Eff all that “explaining himself” bullshyte. He needs to be locked up for good. The deluge of Casey Anthony death threats continues. The accused murderer herself is in hiding , and if this continues, people associated with her – such as attorney Cheney Mason – may want to follow suit. Mason’s wife called 911 Tuesday, claiming someone told her “Your scumbag husband and Baez [Casey’s other attorney] better sleep with one eye open.” Following this and several other reported threats, officials in Seminole County will perform multiple drive-bys daily to make sure the Masons are safe. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is working with the State Attorney to acquire phone records to track down the callers. Listen to the 911 call here: Casey Anthony Lawyer Calls 911
