Must Be Nice: The Highest Paid Black Actors’ On Television (And Some Notable Others)

Black actors might demand big checks for work on the silver screen, but for TV, not so much… A List Of The Highest Paid Black Actors On TV Via Examiner Simon Cowell an executive producer and co-owner of “The X Factor” and “Got Talent” TV franchises, is ranked at the top of TV Guide’s list of the highest-paid TV stars of 2013. He made $95 million in the past year, according to TV Guide, which made the announcement on Aug. 20, 2013. The full list is in TV Guide’s Aug. 26 to Sept. 1, 2013 issues, which goes on sale on Aug. 22, 2013. Cowell is a judge on “The X Factor” U.S., which airs in the U.S. on Fox. According to TV Guide, Kelly Rowland (who joined “The X Factor” U.S. judging panel in 2013) is the next-highest-paid judge on the show: Her “X Factor” salary is $2.5 million per season. That’s about the same amount that TV Guide says Paula Abdul made as a judge “The X Factor” U.S. in 2011. Abdul lasted one season on the show before she was fired, along with judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones. Although TV Guide did not report the salaries of the other two “X Factor” U.S. judges of 2013 (Demi Lovato and Paulina Rubio), the Hollywood Reporter claims that Lovato’s “X Factor” salary was doubled to slightly more than $2 million (compared to her reported $1 million “X Factor” salary in 2012), while Rubio’s “X Factor” salary in 2013 is about $1.5 million. Sharon Osbourne (who is a judge on “The X Factor” U.K.) is also on the list, which ranks the stars’ salaries only for U.S. TV shows. Therefore, only Osbourne’s reported $1 million annual salary for co-hosting CBS’s “The Talk” was included for her inclusion on the list. Osbourne’s “X Factor” U.K. salary is about £1.5 million (or $2.35 million in U.S. dollars), according to the Daily Mirror and The Sun. Cowell and Howard Stern were each tied for No. 1 on Forbes’ 2013 list of highest-paid TV personalities list, which counted the stars’ total salaries from June 2012 to June 2013. Cowell and Stern earned $95 million each in that time period, according to Forbes. Suffice to say, all the folks that are REALLY breaking the bank on television are white, but you can hit the flippy to see where WE rank and just how far African-Americans still have to go in comparison to their paler peers. All salaries listed are per episode with the exception of daytime TV hosts. Images via WENN/Splash Continue reading

What’s That Supposed To Mean?!? Sharon Osbourne On Justin Bieber “I Think He Doesn’t Realize He’s White And Not Black, That’s A Huge Problem.”

Sure Bieber is a little a$$hole, but what the hell does that have to do with being black?!? Sharon Osbourne Says Justin Bieber’s Problem Is That He Thinks He’s Black Via Today Sharon Osbourne isn’t afraid to give her honest opinion on anything — or anyone. In a blunt interview with The Daily Beast, the TV personality and wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne offered up her take on various musicians, including Justin Bieber. “I feel really bad for him,” Osbourne said of the teen pop sensation. “There’s this little kid with a huge dream, he’s cute, girls love him, and he wants to be a mean boy, and he’s about as mean as a (expletive) kitten, and he’s trying to act out.” Osbourne referred to Bieber infamously urinating in a mop bucket in a nightclub kitchen earlier this year while his friends laughed and filmed the event. “It’s like, ‘Oh, we’re the bad boys!’ she said. “(Expletive) off! You don’t know what bad is. And I think that he’s lost, I really do. I think he doesn’t realize he’s white and not black, that’s a huge problem. And, at the point he’s at in his career, it’s so dangerous because we’ve seen it all before a million times. Where do you go when you’re a child entertainer and then you want to transition to be a man? Very few make it.” Speaking of black people and problems, Ozzy’s better half also took a minute to isht on Kanye West “I have no time for (Kanye West),” she said of the musician and Kim Kardashian baby daddy. “He bores me.” But she had only praise for singers Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake. Soooooo, black people piss in mop buckets, drive recklessly, and smoke kush (ok, maybe the kush, maybe), but still??? We suggest you get to ‘splainin’ yourself ASAP! Images via Splash/WENN

Sharon Osbourne Slams Justin Bieber: You’re Not Black!

Sharon Osbourne is featured in a new interview with The Daily Beast, going off on a number of topics and celebrities. But we have a feeling the opinion that will resonate most loudly with THG readers will Osbourne’s view of Justin Bieber, given the singer’s recent run of scandals and outrageous behavior. “I feel really bad for him,” Osbourne said of the 19-year old. “There’s this little kid with a huge dream, he’s cute, girls love him, and he wants to be a mean boy, and he’s about as mean as a f**kin’ kitten, and he’s trying to act out. “It’s like pissing in a bucket . It’s like, ‘Oh, we’re the bad boys!’ F**k off! You don’t know what bad is.” Sharon went on to label Justin as “lost” and concluded: “I think he doesn’t realize he’s white and not black, that’s a huge problem. And, at the point he’s at in his career, it’s so dangerous because we’ve seen it all before a million times. Where do you go when you’re a child entertainer and then you want to transition to be a man? Very few make it.” Let’s all hope The Biebs is among the minority in that case. Among Osbourne’s many other viewpoints: On the Anthony Wiener penis scandal: “I’d like to slap him. You’re a grown man with a great education, and you think, in this day and age, you can send pictures of your penis over the Internet and not get caught?” On Kanye West: “I have no time for him. He bores me. I said it on the show, he’s an average-looking man with an average talent, but he’s a great salesman. He should sell cars because they would f**kin’ fly out the door.” Osbourne is also a huge fan of Barbara Walters , labeling her an “amazing woman,” of Taylor Swift (she’s “brilliant”) and Justin Timberlake (“the best all-around”). Sharon Osbourne Calls Out Lady Gaga, Gun Bra on The Talk

So much for a detente in the Gaga-Osbourne feud. Despite Kelly Osbourne ‘s attempt to quash the beef – and mutual agreement that the world ought to be more peaceful – Sharon Osbourne is not backing down. Sharon Osbourne Slams Lady Gaga (The Talk) Monday on The Talk , Sharon slammed Lady Gaga – again – for setting a bad example for her millions of fans and practicing the behavior she claims to condemn. “Don’t let your fans be so hideously damaging, hurtful, violent… on your own website,” she told the singer. “If you are the Mother Monster, monitor it.” Sharon Osbourne continued, “Why haven’t you, as a responsible young woman, said, ‘No violence on my website, no violence, no threats, no violence.'” Sharon also took Gaga to task for not practicing what she preaches, noting that the singer has been known to incorporate firearms into her tour act. “Everything is guns, guns, guns,” she said, citing an example in which the pop superstar wears a machine gun bra , outfitted with dueling assault rifles. “This is not right, and she should be stopped.” “All I’m asking her to do is to stay true to her foundation, which she said [she created because] she wants the world to be a braver, kinder world,” Sharon explained. It only takes “one young person that wants attention” to start trouble, she continued, alluding to the recent school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. “One person wanting attention… over her not wanting to lean out to her Little Monsters to say, ‘Hey guys, I love you, I understand you, [but] not everyone does.” “Please don’t be violent on my site.'” The talk-show host’s on-air comments are just the latest chapter in what is shaping up to be a long and bitter battle between the Osbourne women and Gaga. It began when Gaga posted an open letter to 28-year-old Kelly, criticizing her for insulting people for a living and basically being a bully on E!’s Fashion Police. Sharon came to her daughter’s defense a short time later with a scathing, public memo of her own, calling Gaga a hypocrite, and the feud was ignited. “I am an activist. Nobody takes adolescents seriously, I do,” Gaga wrote in response. “My letter to Kelly Osbourne was open, because her statements on cyber-bullying were public & as a youth activist I’m compelled to be involved.” Whose side are you on in this celebrity feud?   Team Gaga Team Kelly/Sharon View Poll »

Lady Gaga Responds to Sharon Osbourne, Defends Kelly Osbourne Facebook Criticism

The Mother Monster has spoken, and she is not backing down. In the latest chapter of the Lady Gaga-Kelly Osbourne feud, the “Born This Way” singer defended her previous statements amidst an attack from Kelly’s mom Sharon. Gaga lambasted Kelly Osbourne’s ” bullying ” of celebrities on E!’s Fashion Police, encouraging her in an open letter to make the world kinder, not more negative. In response, Sharon Osbourne slammed Gaga on Facebook, telling the singer to stop being self-righteous and engaging in hypocritical bullying behavior. What did Gaga have to say about that? “The ‘real world’ can be cruel, why not try to change it into a better place?” Gaga wrote, reiterating her previous point and stating simply, “I am an activist.” “My letter to Kelly Osbourne was open, because her statements on cyber-bullying were public & as a youth activist I’m compelled to be involved.” “Nobody takes adolescents seriously, I do.” Kelly, meanwhile, has been detailing death threats and other verbal assaults that she often received from Gaga’s fans, collectively referred to as “little monsters.” “They’ve said I should kill myself, that they hope I get raped,” she told UK’s Fabulous . “I mean, it’s crazy but I’ve had this all my life and I just try and ignore it.” Gaga said that’s the whole point – as a bullying victim herself, Kelly should realize the impact hurtful words have and set a better example as a celebrity. Unmoved, Gaga wrote the younger Osbourne, “To see you blossoming into a beautiful slender woman who makes fun of others for a living is astounding.” “Why not help others?” Choose your side :   Team Gaga Team Kelly/Sharon View Poll »

America’s Got Talent: Who Won?

Nick Cannon was right. That sure was an “insane” finale of America’s Got Talent . The summer competition crowned its Season 7 winner last night, but not before a two-hour finale crammed in clips of some awful talent; a visit from Joan Rivers; a goodbye to Sharon Osbourne ; and performances by Justin Bieber and Green Day. And after all that pageantry, the six contestants were whittled down to Tom Cotter and Olate Dogs, with the winner announced as… … OLATE DOGS! Confetti poured down, all the acts came on stage, hugs were exchanged and another season went in the books. Did you agree with America’s choice?
