#NYFWNOIR: Top 20 Looks From Black Models On The Runway

Read more here:

Source: Paul Bruinooge / Getty We still have far to go when it comes to diversity on the runway, but it appears that the fashion industry is paying attention to the criticism it has faced in the past regarding the lack of it. During this year’s New York Fashion Week, models of all shades strutted down the runway in some of the top designer’s shows. They killed it in jewel tones at Cushnie, made our jaws drop in breathtaking Carolina Herrera gowns, slayed in Brandon Maxwell’s colorful satin designs, and so many more runway shows. It was tough to narrow down our list to only 20 looks that black models slayed on the runway, because there were just that many this time around that captured our essence and contained pops of color that complemented our skin tones. This was definitely an NYFW to remember. Take a peek at the hottest looks from the NYFW runway!

Police: Man Committed Hate Crime Because His Mom Is Dating A Black Man

Source: JEFF HAYNES / Getty A 21-year-old man is accused of attacked black people, solely based on their skin color. A Harris County probable cause document states that  Albert Gallegos attacked a 92-year-old African-American man from behind at a METRO stop in Southeast Houston. Gallegos is accused of attacking the man and rendering him unconscious. The officer who said that he is certain that Gallegos is the suspect read “multiple case(s) involving the suspect and the suspect is obviously a violent person and has hatred towards African Americans because (his) mother is dating a black male. After reading these reports about the suspect’s history I can clearly see the suspect is picking his victims on the basis of their skin color, the victim in (the officer’s) case is a 92-year-old black male who has never dealt with or had any type of interaction with the suspect.” In a separate case, court documents revealed that Gallegos also threatened to kill his mother and her boyfriend. Gallegos is facing hate crime charges and is being held on $20,000 bond. RELATED:  Houston Man Arrested In Bizarre Bestiality Case RELATED:  Man Accused Of Killing Pregnant Woman

Storm Brewing: Alexandra Shipp Blames ‘Black Twitter’ For ‘X-Men’ Pitting Kiki Layne Against Her

Source: Brian To/Fayes Vision/WENN.com / WENN Ooop! Alexandra Shipp Responds To Kiki Layne Wanting To Play Storm, Blames Black Twitter Alexandra Shipp was recently BIG bothered—and it was all “Black Twitter’s fault—HMPH! Actress Kiki Layne who’s seeing stellar acclaim for her breakout role in “If Beale Street Could Talk” recently confessed that she’d LOVE to take on Marvel’s iconic comic book character Storm who she always imagined was “powerful” and “chocolate.” “She was an image of myself, of a powerful chocolate black woman,” Layne told Variety at the Critics Choice Awards. “And I just think that’s an amazing image to have and I really want to play Storm. “We are actively plotting, actively plotting,” said Layne about her team throwing her name in the hat for the role. In case you didn’t know however, Storm’s already taken. Halle Berry played Storm in the first four X-Men movies and actress Alexandra Shipp’s been playing the iconic character since 2016. The quote’s clearly gotten back to Alexandra and she’s accusing none other than Black Twitter of pitting KiKi against her. Why? Well because she’s received criticism for being “too light” to play the character, so surely we all hyped up KiKi to steal her shine. “I won’t ever bad mouth a fellow actor,” wrote Alexandra. “I won’t ever actively try to take another hard working actors job. Y’all can keep trying to pin black women against each other but it won’t work on me, honey. Stay blessed.” I won’t ever bad mouth a fellow actor. I won’t ever actively try to take another hard working actors job. Y’all can keep trying to pin black women against each other but it won’t work on me, honey. Stay blessed. — Alexandra Shipp (@AlexShipppp) January 14, 2019 She later added this quote conflating #BlackLivesMatter with her stormy struggle. “Black twitter is so powerful. One second we’re trying to rally and define why our lives matter, the next we’re making each other feel like we’re not worthy of one. I’ll only spread and give love, no matter what tone my skin falls under. Bless up y’all ima go back to work x” Black twitter is so powerful. Don’t Play With Us, Robyn: Rihanna Says She’ll Be Releasing An Album In 2019

Source: Caroline McCredie / Getty We’re Getting A Rihanna Album Next Year, According To Rihanna Rihanna has been absolutely killing the makeup (and lingerie) game–so it’s no surprise that music has taken a backseat this year. But luckily for us, it looks like that won’t be the case for long. In an Instagram post that the mogul shared on Friday, Rih gave her fans something to live for by responding to one of the many comments asking when to expect new music with a one-word answer. “2019,” she wrote. Looks like Rihanna is dropping her album in 2019. pic.twitter.com/RfQq9T6AZ2 — Karen Civil (@KarenCivil) December 22, 2018 And now, officially, the hype for the follow-up to 2016’s  ANTI  has kicked into high gear. It was just earlier this week that Rihanna’s go-to vocal producer  Kuk Harrell said  that her currently untitled ninth studio album was sounding “amazing.” He also added, “It’s incredible, and that’s all I’m going to say.” Ms. Fenty definitely isn’t oblivious to the fact that her fans are looking for some new music in every nook and cranny. Back in September, Rih let us know that she would be releasing new material as she focused on her other interests. “Simultaneously doing lingerie, makeup, film, amongst a couple other things that I enjoy…When the music is ready, you won’t have to ask for it. But it’s coming.” And on top of the fact that we apparently get some new Rihanna music in 2019, that’s not the only project she has on the way. The makeup and music mogul recently appeared in the trailer for Donald Glover and Hiro Murai’s  Guava Island . Hopefully, Robyn isn’t trolling and a new album is indeed on the horizon for 2019…and if we’re lucky, it’ll be January 1. Continue reading

C’mon Son: An Old Clip Of Chris Rock Encouraging Louis C.K. To Say The N-Word Has Twitter In A Tizzy

Source: E. Charbonneau / Getty Chris Rock Is Getting Crucified Online For This Old Clip Chris Rock  was Twitter’s number one trending topic on Saturday night, but it’s not exactly something to be proud of. The comedian became the talk of Twitter and the internet as a whole after a 2011 clip of HBO’s  Talking Funny  resurfaced. In the video, Chris Rock is joined by fellow comedians Ricky Gervais, Louis C.K. and Jerry Seinfeld, who all end up discussing the use of the “N-word.” Things escalate quickly as both Gervais and C.K. start to casually throw around the racial slur without a care in the world, as Rock joins in and laughs along with them. This literally made my skin crawl. The fact a white man has to be the voice of reason on racial sensitivity, in the same room Chris Rock is in…. Speaks volumes pic.twitter.com/uVgB7Loeq1 — Krew Season (@AskTrillAC) December 22, 2018 The clip and subsequent discussion start after Rock announces to the room that Louis C.K. is “the blackest white guy” he knows. C.K. responds by asking Rock, “You’re saying I’m a n****r?” “Yes,” Rock replies. “You are the n****r-est white man I have ever [met].” Gervais is clearly entertained by the whole exchange as Chris and Louis explode with laughter, but Seinfeld is visibly uncomfortable the entire time and ends up speaking out against the situation. After vocalizing that he doesn’t think Louis should say that word, Jerry said, “You’ve found the humor of it,” he says. “I haven’t — nor do I seek it.” As we mentioned before, this was the number one topic on Twitter this weekend, and the reactions were pretty unanimous: Jerry Seinfeld being the voice of reason while Chris Rock encourages his white peers to spew the N-word is absolutely insane. Seinfeld is still being praised while the 3 other comedians continue to be roasted relentlessly–especially Chris Rock. Check out the reactions to this recently resurfaced clip by flipping through the next few pages. This literally made my skin crawl.
