The Monkees will go on tour together for the first time since singer Davy Jones died of a heart attack in February, the group announced today. The 12-date fall U.S. tour will kick off in November and will include all three surviving Monkees: Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork. The trek marks the first time in 15 years that Nesmith will join the group on tour; the last time he joined The Monkees was back in 1997. According to Rolling Stone , the set list will span The Monkees’ career, from their TV series to their movie “Head” to more obscure album tracks. “I never really left,” says Nesmith of his time with the group. “It is a part of my youth that is always active in my thought and part of my overall work.” “It stays in a special place, but like things in the past it fades in and out in relevance to activities that are current. Getting together with old friends and acquaintances can be stimulating and very fun and even inspiring to me.” “We all did some good work together and I am always interested in the right time and the right place to reconnect and play.” The Monkees plan to salute the late Davy Jones in a multimedia show with some rare photographs and videos throughout the tour.
Troublesome as the Octomom porn may be for us to stomach, don’t expect Orange County Child Protective Services (CPS) to come a-knockin’. In fact, she claims they’re all for it! “They’re on my side – they’re supporters,” Nadya Suleman reportedly told a Fox News interviewer, recalling when she told CPS about it. “It’s ironic. Once I talked with a CPS worker in regards to the adult stuff, she was like, ‘Are you really doing that?’ Well, more power to you!'” “It’s not illegal. It was almost like a green light, like, ‘Do what you need to do to take care of your family.’ They were supportive. It was funny.” Funny is not the world a lot of people would choose … but is this even true? Would a CPS employee possibly say that to Nadya Suleman ? Terry Lynn Fisher of the Orange County Social Services Agency (which oversees CPS) “cannot address specific aid recipients” but says: “The Social Services Agency makes every effort to help children be safe in their own homes with their own families whenever possible. The law allows a wide latitude in parenting styles and in parenting vocations. I don’t think that anybody would ever want it any other way . So as long as children remain free from harm or danger, where there’s no imminent risk of harm or danger, the Social Services Agency would not become involved.” It’s all good in other words. Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised. If they haven’t taken her kids away by now, how’s one porno gonna sway them. Nadya Suleman: Should she lose her kids? Would you hit it?
Season two of The X Factor is just over a month away, and Simon Cowell’s revamped competition is missing one key element: a host. The show has struggled to find a replacement for Steve Jones, who was dumped following a lackluster opening season. With producers reportedly seeking a male and a female to take the Brit’s place, Khloe Kardashian has moved toward the top of the list for the latter position. And now multiple sources confirm that Glee star Kevin McHale is also under consideration for the gig.
It’s official: Simon Cowell has not completely cleaned house on The X Factor . With Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Steve Jones all out of the Fox singing competition, the network announced today that iconic music producer L.A. Reid would be back for season two. The question, of course, remains: who will join Reid and Cowell on the show’s panel? Mariah Carey has been a rumored name for weeks, with the latest chatter surrounding Beyonce and a ridiculous offer Simon supposedly made to Blue Ivy’s mom. WHO DO YOU WANT TO SEE JUDGING THE X FACTOR?
For all the criticism leveled at the first season of The X Factor – which resulted in the dismissal of Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Steve Jones last week – no one took issue with the show’s champion. Melanie Amaro can seriously sing. And Super Bowl viewers will find out for themselves on Sunday, as the 19-year old teams with Elton John for a 60-second Pepsi commercial. Said the latter: “Pepsi wanted to make me ‘King for a Day’ on Super Bowl Sunday. How could I possibly pass that up?” What, exactly, is he talking about? Fellow mentor Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones are also out; a source tells Deadline ‘none of the three left on their own accord.’ By Kara Warner Paula Abdul Photo: Mark Davis/ Gety Images For any “X Factor” fans who are thinking season two of the Simon Cowell-created singing competition will be business as usual, think again, because Monday (January 30) marked a veritable bloodletting of the show’s key talent and judging panel. In addition to the losses of mentor Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones , original “American Idol” diva and delightfully unpredictable judge Paula Abdul will also not be returning to the program. A source close to Cowell told Deadline.com that all three personalities were asked to leave the show. “None of the three left on their own accord,” Deadline editor Nikki Finke wrote of what her insider source told her of the mass exodus. “It was cleaning house day at the so-so rated show.” Despite their frequent onscreen bickering and banter, Cowell spoke highly of Abdul when it was announced that she would be joining him on “X Factor.” “I missed her the second she left [‘Idol’],” Cowell told Deadline last year. “Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain. I don’t know what it is about her, but I’ve always clicked with her. You just have to get that chemistry, and she’s right. I’ve never found anyone better than her.” Former Pussycat Doll and “Dancing With the Stars” champ Scherzinger was also sent packing, although a source close to Scherzinger told E! News that she left the show to focus on her music career. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell], and he’s given her his blessing,” the insider told E! Scherzinger often became emotional during elimination episodes, shedding tears and expressing sympathy for ousted contestants. As for inaugural “X Factor” host Jones, the cheeky Welshman broke the news himself via Twitter on Monday. “I won’t be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time,” Jones tweeted to his more than 94,000 followers. “Good luck to everyone on the show.” Jones had decidedly big shoes to fill stepping into the gig, with comparisons instantly made to “American Idol” host/ media mogul Ryan Seacrest. Throughout the season, the reviews of Jones’ hosting skills were decidedly mixed. As far as we know, L.A. Reid will continue to work alongside Cowell on the judging panel. There has been no word yet from Fox on who might replace Abdul, Scherzinger and Jones, or when season two will premiere. Who do you think should join “X Factor”? Share your ideas in the comments! Oy vey. Will this never end?!? Justin Bieber took a DNA test last Friday in order to prove, once and for all, that he did NOT father a child with Mariah Yeater. Justin Bieber Baby Daddy Debate: The Pulse But now attorney Jeffrey Leving is speaking out and saying his client is unhappy with the procedure because no one in her camp was present for it. “We have to make sure the chain of custody is properly supervised,” Leving told E! News, explaining why he wants Bieber to take another test. “I don’t know if it was even his DNA. Evidence has to be properly supervised to make sure it is not corrupted. What I am hoping is to get DNA testing done for everybody and to have it done in a supervised setting.” Yeater, of course, dropped her lawsuit against Bieber last week, but Leving says he’ll have no choice but to “refile” if the parties can’t reach a resolution on the testing issue. Man. These people really are weasels , aren’t they?
The X Factor tried to shake things up this week by sending TWO contestants home – but the only real surprise was that the show featured Howie Mandel in the audience. Isn’t he a NBC guy? Indeed, the two performances given the boot were the most obvious selections of the remaining nine, one a group, the other an over-30 hopeful. So long, Lakoda Rayne and LeRoy Bell. You had a decent run. Rayne was sent packing early on in the broadcast – which also featured performances by Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars – as that group received the lowest number of votes following last night’s performance show. Paula Abdul now has no more proteges remaining. Bell, meanwhile, was in the bottom two alongside Marcus Canty . The judges tried to instill some tension in the second elimination, deadlocking their votes and leaving the singers’ fate up to the audience. Steve Jones promptly read Bell’s name off a card and the elder crooner took his ousting like a man. You tell us: Did the right contestants get sent home?
