Well, they are both global superstars with a back catalogue of tunes that have kept fans dancing for a really long time and they both recently hooked up with will.i.am for tracks on their latest releases (the Black Eyed Peas mastermind worked on the pop vixen’s Femme Fatale tune “Big Fat Bass”). I think he’s really hot right now. That would be cool [to tour with him].” The North American road trip is expected to kick off June 17 in Sacramento, California, and will run for 26 dates, winding up on August 13 in Toronto. More details will be announced soon. Lady Gaga, Chris Martin Help Apple Announce New Products

Coldplay frontman played unreleased song, ‘Wedding Bells,’ while Gaga, via video, introduced Ping social network site. By Gil Kaufman Coldplay’s Chris Martin Photo: Justin Sullivan/ Getty Images For Apple geeks, the sight of company CEO Steve Jobs is akin to a rock star encounter, because they know that whenever he takes the stage in his signature black turtleneck for the company’s annual new-product-announcement event, they’re going to be blown away. But on Wednesday in San Francisco, Jobs brought along some actual star firepower in the form of Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Lady Gaga to announce the new line of iPods and a musical social networking site called Ping. Jobs rolled out the iPods first, showing off the revamped iPod Shuffle, which brings back finger controls, and the tiny Nano, which ditches buttons for a touch screen. Then, according to reports, Martin came out and played the new tune “Wedding Bells,” which he said might never come out. “This is the beginning of a story kind of thing that starts sadly,” he explained, telling the audience it might be the only time they ever hear the composition. “Those wedding bells ringing up upon that hill/ And I don’t want to swallow such a bitter pill/ You keep on movin’, while I stay still/ But I always loved you and I always will,” Martin sang intensely while gently playing piano. Martin also played such well known Coldplay hits as “Viva La Vida” and “Yellow” before Jobs brought out another big gun, Lady Gaga, to introduce Apple’s latest innovation. With 160 million potential users from day one, the company’s music-focused social network, Ping, will be included in the upcoming iTunes 10 update. Jobs brought up a Lady Gaga page to demonstrate the service, described as “Facebook and Twitter meets iTunes.” Users can follow their favorite artists and friends, see what they’re listening to and downloading, post opinions and thoughts on music and browse concert listings on the new service. Gaga appeared via pre-taped video from the studio to hype the new product. But the biggest buzz about her drop-in after the event centered on reports that Apple had allegedly scrubbed some of her tweets celebrating the recent overturning of anti gay-marriage legislation Proposition 8 in California in a promo screenshot of a Gaga Ping page, according to Gawker. Rihanna tattoo on her neck

Rihanna leaves her New York City hotel on Wednesday with a special message: a tattoo reading rebelle fleur (rebellious flower) on her neck. The singer takes the stage in Connecticut tonight, before performing at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Rihanna was spotted leaving a tattoo parlor in New York last night where she apparently had some ink done on her neck because why not? It’s kind of hard to make out what it says in these photos, so I fired off my best guesses and I’ll let you guys

Bret Michaels Performs On ‘American Idol’

Recovering rock star takes the stage with Casey James. By Josh Wigler Bret Michaels on the ‘American Idol’ Finale May 26 Photo: FOX After suffering a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage in April, discovering a hole in his heart earlier this month and beating out Holly Robinson Peete on “The Celebrity Apprentice” on Sunday, one would think Bret Michaels had gone through enough over the past several weeks. Not so, apparently, as the Poison frontman surprised the masses yet again by appearing on Wednesday night’s (May 26) “American Idol” season-nine finale for an inspiring and rocking musical performance. The performance began as third-place finisher Casey James took the stage, slowly strumming his rendition of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” Audience anticipation quickly built to a fever pitch as it dawned on the Nokia Theatre crowd and the folks at home that Michaels was about to grace the stage. Sure enough, a healthy-looking Michaels appeared with guitar in hand, gradually making his way to stand side-by-side with the clearly enthused James. In light of Michaels’ recent health scares, the lyrics to “Every Rose” suddenly took on new meaning: “Though its been awhile now/ I can still feel so much pain/ Like a knife that cuts you, the wound heals/ But the scar, that scar remains.” But Michaels wasn’t dwelling on any scars of his own. Strumming along and singing as loudly and proudly as ever before, the rocking Poison musician more than held his own on the “American Idol” stage. In a night already filled with many unforgettable performances, Michaels’ appearance was undoubtedly one of the evening’s most powerful and uplifting moments. Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze Dominate American Idol

And then there were two. Yes, we know there are actually seven finalists remaining on American Idol – but can anyone envision a scenario in which Crystal Bowersox or Lee DeWyze does NOT take home the title? We certainly hope not, as this pair is clearly the cream of the season nine crop. Each proved why during last night’s edition of the show, based around inspirational singles, putting on performances that brought many in the audience to tears. We’ve ranked the top seven in order below. Just imagine a large space between number-two and all the others… Bowersox : Who needs a guitar?!? With a perfect rendition of “People Get Ready,” and with her father in the crowd, Crystal herself couldn’t stop from crying. But here’s encouraging news for the singer: she’s the one to beat. DeWyze : He took on “The Boxer,” a Paul Simon classic. It was a tender performance, one that lived up to the expectations of such a well-known, respected song. Awesome job. Casey James : Taken on its own, a solid take on “Don’t Stop.” But this singer sounds the same each week. Nothing stands out at this point, which might actually put Casey in danger of elimination this week. Siobhan Magnus : She took heat for her ballad of “When You Believe.” But who would you rank above her? Still has a great voice and great potential. Aaron Kelly : It’s difficult to get past the cheesy single he chose (“I Believe I Can Fly”), or even the shady persona of the dude who originally sang it (R. Kelly). But this Kelly connected with the audience in an impressive manner. Tim Urban : We’ve seen better recent performances from this cutie than his cover of “Better Days.” His time might finally be up. Michael Lynche : Another cheesy ballad, as Big Mike took a big chance with “Hero.” His voice just couldn’t carry such a tough song choice. Who was your favorite performer of the night?
