Reports TMZ : Law enforcement sources tell us the rapper was getting a bag scanned Wednesday morning at Tampa International Airport before getting onto a Delta flight when TSA agents discovered a Glock 43 in one of his bags, as well as a fully-loaded magazine lying beside it. We’re told Plies had no permit for the gun, and was arrested by airport police for carrying a concealed weapon — a felony. We’re told he’s currently in custody at Tampa International … and will be transferred to Hillsborough County Jail. To make matters worse, Plies didn’t have a permit for the weapon and was charged with felony carrying of a concealed weapon. Sources close to Plies say he mistakenly grabbed the wrong bag while packing and is fully claiming possession of the gun. NFL Players Have Fingers Amputated After Fireworks Accidents Sad news for Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. Looks like his 4th of July mishap will cost him an index finger. But oddly, he isn’t the only NFL baller who got a little too close to the action on Saturday night…yet another player is parting ways with one of his digits after a similar accident . Via E!online : This Fourth of July proved to be quite dangerous. NFL players Jason Pierre-Paul (New York Giants) and C.J. Wilson (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) ended up having to get fingers amputated following separate firework accidents over the holiday weekend. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted, “ESPN obtained medical charts that show Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul had right index finger amputated today.” However, Giants fans need not worry. It seems as though he’ll be on the road to recovery soon and won’t be off the field for too long. Schefter followed with, “Medical source expects him to play this season, ‘sooner than people think.’” The 26-year-old defensive end has been in a South Florida hospital since Saturday night when he severely injured his hand in a fireworks accident, however specifics on what happened are unknown. It was initially believed that Pierre-Paul had only suffered burns on three fingers and parts of both hands, but it was clearly worse than people thought. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers player lost two fingers in a fireworks accident on Saturday, according to the Lincoln Times-News, located in Wilson’s home town of Lincolnton, N.C. The Buccaneers have acknowledged they’re aware of the injury but have not released any details about Wilson’s condition. Wilson’s agent has likewise confirmed that he’s injured but declined to release any medical information. Damn! Well, it definitely could have been worse …they should consider themselves lucky and be more careful next time.
Tampa Florida Cops Use Bicycle Tickets As Means To Harass African-Americans Shady police practices? In Florida?? Say it ain’t so…SMH Via TampaBay If the tickets are any indication, Tampa residents must be the lousiest bicyclists in Florida. They don’t use lights at night. Don’t ride close enough to the curb. Can’t manage to keep their hands on the handlebars. In the past three years, Tampa police have written 2,504 bike tickets — more than Jacksonville, Miami, St. Petersburg and Orlando combined. Police say they are gung ho about bike safety and focused on stopping a plague of bike thefts. But here’s something they don’t mention about the people they ticket: Eight out of 10 are black. A Tampa Bay Times investigation has found that Tampa police are targeting poor, black neighborhoods with obscure subsections of a Florida statute that outlaws things most people have tried on a bike, like riding with no light or carrying a friend on the handlebars. Officers use these minor violations as an excuse to stop, question and search almost anyone on wheels. The department doesn’t just condone these stops, it encourages them, pushing officers who patrol high-crime neighborhoods to do as many as possible. It’s policies like these that exist in police departments all across America that have lead to the loss of the public’s trust of law enforcement officials.
