Source: Frederick M. Brown / Getty So much for going to trial . Suge Knight took a plea deal today (Sept. 20) in his murder case and will now be serving a 28-year jail sentence. TMZ reports that the former Death Row exec pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter. However, Knight will get credit for time served, knocking down his sentence to about 25 years. By the time he gets out, he will also get an additional 3 years of parole. Suge Knight is 53 years old, putting him at a cool 88 if he sees his sentence through. Suge Knight’s bail has been revoked, officials confirm, leaving the former Death Row Records mogul in custody following his murder arrest last week. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department cites possible witness intimidation, Knight’s criminal past and fear that he will flee before trial as its chief concerns. That will pretty much cover it, that trifecta. Bail had been set at $2.2 million after Suge Knight was arrested for murder in the death of Terry Carter, 55, whom he killed, allegedly, in a hit and run. Knight’s murder defense is that he didn’t know he hit anyone , and was in fear for his life, after an altercation with two men at a burger joint. Another man was hurt, but survived. Cle “Bone” Sloan, 51, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and may have been Knight’s intended target. Police believe Knight’s intent was very much to injure someone with his truck , and given his criminal record, that’s enough to keep him locked up for now. According to an official spokeswoman, the 49-year-old considered a flight risk, in addition to a man who could engaged in major witness intimidation. He is also a three-strike candidate, meaning he’s in for a more serious sentence, having been convicted of two or more violent crimes or felonies in in California. The office of Knight’s attorney, James Blatt, confirmed they had “heard” that their notorious client’s bail was revoked and were looking into it. Suge is due in court on Tuesday. Knight spent years in prison for violating parole on assault and weapons charges, and was shot six times at a Chris Brown concert last year. Also last year, he was arrested alongside comedian Katt Williams, and charged with robbery following an incident involving an aggressive paparazzo.

Yesterday, Suge Knight ran over and killed a man on the set of a commercial for the upcoming NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton. The victim – a friend of Knight’s named Terry Carter – died on the scene, and the notoriously violent hip hop mogul fled before authorities arrived. Today, Knight was arrested for murder , and as more facts emerge about the investigation emerge, it looks as though the hit and run was no mere accident. TMZ reports Suge had engaged in a shoving match with Dr. Dre’s security staff earlier in the day, at a different location where the commercial was shooting. The altercation was witnessed by some off-duty cops who ordered Knight to leave the premises. Hours later, Carter contacted Knight to inform him that Dre would like to speak with him in order to settle their dispute. Knight is reportedly telling police that when he arrived at the set, he was attacked by Dre’s team the moment he got out of his truck. Some sources say Knight feared for his life, as he’s still in “frail health” after being shot six times in August. Others say he was using his vehicle as a weapon, and though the death of his friend Carter may have been an accident, Knight had intended to hit someone . Suge Knight Involved In Hit And Run Death Suge Knight just can’t seem to stay out of sticky situations . After a particularly rough 2014 (getting shot, getting sick, getting arrested), he’s starting off the new year with possible murder charges under his belt. Via TMZ : Suge Knight got into a fight on the set of a film project in Compton, ran over a man who later died, and then fled the scene. Multiple witnesses tell us a movie shoot was going down with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre when Suge pulled up in his car. We’re told security told Suge to leave and that’s when trouble began. A fight broke out between Suge and 2 men. Suge got back into his car, took the wheel and threw the vehicle in reverse … and ran over a man who suffered fatal injuries. It’s unclear at this point if the victim was connected to the film project. Sources connected with Suge tell TMZ … the 2 men who fought Suge were the instigators. Our sources say Suge was scared because he’s in frail health — in addition to being shot 6 times last summer, he recently almost died from a blood clot. The victim is Terry Carter, who we’re told is a friend of Suge’s who arrived with him at the scene. Our sources say Carter was in the process of walking to the passenger door of Suge’s vehicle, but happened to be in the rear when Suge gunned it. Two other men were also hit … including Cle “Bone” Sloane — who’s appeared in “Training Day” and “End of Watch” — and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both men are in the hospital. This could mean some SERIOUSLY bad news for Suge. TMZ reports that Suge’s lawyer is currently arranging for him to turn himself in to the Sheriff’s Dept. At this point, it isn’t clear if he’ll be arrested for hit and run, manslaughter — or if he’ll be free to go because it was all an accident that resulted him running from a legit threat.
