After every accolade , award and box-office accomplishment enjoyed by The Artist over the last year, it’s hard to feel too bad for the Weinstein Company’s silent-movie juggernaut after this weekend’s re-release netted a mere $161,000 on 751 screens — an average of $214 per theater . Uggie wouldn’t even write a book for that little. Still, odds are that you ruined Harvey Weinstein’s Mother’s Day, so at least a few pangs of bitter guilt are in order. The recently announced project set to feature Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs has revealed its first reported look at the actor in character as the late Apple co-founder — or at least wearing the standard black mock turtleneck, blue jeans and sneakers (Ascis, not Jobs’s preferred New Balance, but whatever) so closely identified with the late Apple co-founder. As for the rest, I can’t really see it. You? Paparazzi shots are what they are, however, so perhaps we should all withhold judgment until he’s standing in front of some massive screen introducing whatever device changed your life 10 or 15 years ago. “I give you… the Puck Mouse! ” Etc. etc. [ TMZ via /film ]

Italian culture minister blasts Rome Film Festival The festival’s controversial decision to shift dates to November — thus directly competing with the 30 year old Turin Film Festival and the 53-year-old Festival dei Popoli in Florence. The move is “against the overall interests of Italian cinema,” according to culture czar Lorenzo Ornaghi. THR reports.
