How Jason Sudeikis Mastered Movie Wanking

“Here’s a little movie-magic fun fact for you. I did all my research for that scene by going on Chatroulette, that website where guys masturbate for strangers. My moves in Hall Pass are an amalgamation of, I don’t know, maybe 20,000 different dudes. I took the facial expressions from SexHog22; I took the hand motions from GrizzlyBearDong. Those guys really know what they’re doing.” [ Playboy ]

And The Hobbit’s Bard is… Luke Evans

Peter Jackson is wrapping up major casting on The Hobbit , and now Luke Evans, whose first movie was last year’s Clash of the Titans , is set to play the character of Bard. Deadline describes Bard as “a skilled archer, the heir of King Girion of Dale,” and “somewhat reminiscent of the action-hero exploits of Viggo Mortensen’s Aragorn.” Evans missed out on the part of Tom Buchanan in the new Great Gatsby , so hopefully this softens the blow — or at least gives the trashy rich in the West Egg something to discuss. Clash of the Titans Sequel Will Be Converted to 3-D

Release the crappy? In an interview with Cinematical , director Jonathan Liebesman said that his Clash of the Titans sequel (titled Wrath of the Titans ) would be given the post-conversion 3-D treatment, much like the derided first film. The difference? “I think what you have to remember is the first film was neither shot nor edited with 3D in mind,” said Liebesman. “[T]hey decided to convert it with six or seven weeks to go until release, which is insane; the technology was not there. That’s why we’re conceiving it from the start, from the ground up, in 3D, editing in 3D for 3D.” Sounds like a plan. My designer 3-D glasses are already on order. [ Cinematical ]

M. Night Shyamalan Says ‘Last Airbender’ Was ‘Enhanced’ By 3-D

Director tried to use much-maligned post-production 3-D subtly By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz M. Night Shyamalan Photo: Brian Jacks/ MTV News As movie studios and filmmakers rushed to capitalize on the 3-D wave, there have been plenty of successes (“Avatar,” “Toy Story 3,” “How to Train Your Dragon”) and a few flops — particularly when the post-production conversion is applied (“Clash of the Titans,” “The Last Airbender”). When MTV News caught up with “The Last Airbender” director M. Night Shyamalan to discuss his involvement in this week’s “Devil,” we asked for his thoughts on the controversy surrounding the new practice of post-production 3-D. “I knew as soon as we were deciding to do the conversion that we were going to get that [criticism] because it has a stigma to it,” Shyamalan said of the flack critics and fans heaped on “Airbender.” “I definitely do everything very minimal — the sound, the movement of the camera — and when I was doing the 3-D, I decided to do it really gently and just enhance the shot,” he explained. “If we went shot-for-shot and I showed it to you, it was just enhanced. ‘Wow, I can see the depth. Wow, it does feel more grand. Wow, it does feel more beautiful. I’m more into it.’ ” Shyamalan said his goal was to use 3-D subtly, but the format is perhaps too new to be used in that manner, versus the in-your-face, arm-reaching-into-the-audience 3-D of years past. “That’s not my aesthetic,” he said. The director said he loved the film’s 3-D team, which was very protective of the film and staying true to the artistry of it. “We would talk through the philosophy of each shot a little bit,” he said. Shyamalan said the conversion process was a complete learning experience for him. “I enjoyed learning about it a great deal,” he said. “This whole movie was about me learning things I didn’t know, and I’m glad I learned about it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Last Airbender.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Charlize Theron Talks New ‘Mad Max’ Film, ‘Fury Road’

‘I feel like we’re going to go to set out on a journey and do something original.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Charlize Theron Photo: MTV News Charlize Theron would love to share a few details about her much-hyped role in the upcoming Mad Max film, “Fury Road,” but she’s terrified the filmmakers would punish her for giving up any details. “They would kill me,” she told MTV News, just after receiving the Decade of Hotness honors at Spike’s Guys Choice Awards. “They’re listening to everything I’m saying right now,” she said conspiratorially. “It’s so top-secret they would destroy me.” Theron did, however, express enthusiasm for leading man Tom Hardy and director George Miller. “[Tom’s] amazing,” she said. “I think his work in [2009’s] ‘Bronson’ was incredible.” Theron went on to explain that veteran writer/director Miller being attached to the film was her main reason for signing on to this fourth installment in the “Mad Max” franchise. “I wanted to go and do this because I felt that George Miller — well, he’s a genius — and the idea of doing something that has this mass audience appeal with great actors — that is a dream come true. So I’m super excited about that.” The Academy Award-winning actress likened the production to embarking on an adventure. “It’s obnoxious for actors to say this, but I feel like we’re going to go to set out on a journey and do something original.” Also joining Theron and Hardy are castmembers Nicholas Hoult (“Clash of the Titans”), Teresa Palmer (“Bedtime Stories”) and Adelaide Clemens (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”). Production is reportedly scheduled to begin in Australia sometime this August. Mel Gibson , who famously brought the original “Mad” Max Rockatansky to life more than 30 years ago, told MTV News earlier this year that he “can’t wait to see” the new film. “Look, whatever George does, I think George is a genius, and whatever he is going to do with that franchise, he’s got good reason for doing it,” Gibson said. The action star, now in his 50s, said he was glad to have passed on the torch to Hardy: “I can’t take the punishment for that sort of thing.” Are you excited to see “Fury Road” once it opens?
