Lashana Lynch who played Maria Rambeau in “Captain Marvel” will take on the famous 007 moniker in the forthcoming James Bond film. To be clear, the history-making moment means she’s the first BLACK PERSON and the first FEMALE to take on the role. The British actress, 31, will play 007 in what The Daily Mail is describing as a “popcorn dropping moment” between her and the current Bond Daniel Craig. Bond is apparently retired and BEFUDDLED that this “brilliant young black woman” won’t fall for his charm. “Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don’t work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed,” a source told the Mail. “It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman,” the source told the Mail. The film is currently in production in Italy and the UK. Lynch has already been spotted filming on set and she shared a behind the scenes clip. T here is so much power that lies in controlling your own narrative. However due to the lack of diversity within the media industry authentic stories about the Black experience are often excluded, misconstrued or disregarded leaving several individuals feeling unseen and unheard. The Multicultural Media Correspondents Association is on a mission to tackle the lack of racial representation when it comes to ownership and leadership in the media industry. The organization recently hosted a forum in Orlando that gathered influential Black leaders in the media space to share their experiences and develop strategies to evoke change. The summit—dubbed Taking Control of the Media Diversity Crisis—explored how the racial gap in media ownership directly impacts how the Black community is perceived by others and how African Americans see themselves. It also examined how the decline in platforms owned by people of color has changed the landscape of civic engagement and efforts to create political change. Amongst the individuals who participated in the summit were iOne Digital President Detavio Samuels and Lori Hall who serves as the Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing at TV One. Samuels and Hall were featured on a panel that explored diversity and inclusion practices in the media industry and how policymakers can play a role in holding major media companies accountable when it comes to taking corrective action. Other panels that took place during the summit examined the obstacles faced by media owners of color, controlling the narratives in the realm of advertising, and the importance of cultural competency in the media. Influential industry leaders who were apart of these discussions included Erika Alexander , Co-Founder of Color Farm Media, Tanya Grieg Perara , EVP, Comcast NBC Universal, L. Londell McMillan , Attorney and Owner of The Source Magazine, Tirrell D. Whittley , CEO, Liquid Soul and others. It was hosted by Congresswoman Val Demings . “The need for greater media diversity is a national priority. MMCA is committed to moving the needle on media diversity and to be a trusted bridge that brings together policy makers and the media advocacy community to make an impact,” said David Morgan , Founder and President of the MMCA, in a statement. “As an advocate for and a resource to journalists, creatives and other media stakeholders of color, we are excited by the growing support for the MMCA.” Forums like the one led by MMCA are needed. There still are wide racial gaps in film, television, print, and digital ownership. Research shows that less than 1 percent of commercial TV stations are Black-owned. Nick Pendergrast has opened up about something both very personal and, quite literally, very painful. The former reality TV star, who helped anchor Season 4 of Married at First Sight, shared details late this week regarding a near-fatal workplace accident that took place six months ago. In a lengthy and emotional Instagram post on Friday, Pendergrast explained – for the first time to the public – that he is now partially paralyzed and that he was also forced to relocate from partner Heather Yerrid and their twins in order to receive proper care. Heavy, sad stuff. “It’s been a life changing and devastating 2019. “I knew for myself I needed to be in a better mental state to share what happened to me in January,” Pendergrast said at the outset of his message, which accompanied the photos above and below. “I don’t really know if I am truly ready to open up about all of it in fear of how it will be received. What I am sure of, I need all the support I can get right now to make it through this,” he continued. “These pictures were taken so that if I survived, I could see how far I have come to give me hope for the future.” From here, Nick went on to detail exactly what transpired back in January. Along with how it affected his relationship. “I was in an unfortunate severe accident while on the job. When Heather arrived to the ER, she was told they didn’t know if I was going to make it through the night. “January 22nd, I was found submerged in water for hours, with severe hypothermia, multiple pelvic fractures, severely comminuted sacral fractures, Morel-Lavallee, and more.” Pendergrast didn’t go into any further detail about the incident, focusing instead on the aftermath. “It’s been 6 and a half months and I finally feel like I’ve gotten a straight answer about what the future may hold,” he wrote. “The nerve damage caused by the blunt trauma has left me partially paralyzed.” The entire experience has obviously been brand new for Nick. Brand new and scary, he says. “Up until 2019, I had never met anyone in a wheelchair or knew of anyone in my circle that had experienced this type of thing. “I had to relocate to a place that had the best doctors to save my life, and the best environment to regain any functionality in my lower body.” Pendergrast says the “past 6 months have been lonely, depressing, scary, stressful, and difficult,” but he’s now trying to keep a positive frame of mind. This is how he wrapped up his post: Just recently, my goal has been to learn how to become independent again as a disabled individual. I have the support of my family. Heather brings one child at a time to see me since she can’t yet travel with two. I am fighting every day to stay sane, motivated, and in high spirits. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I have gained empathy, compassion, and gratitude through this and hope to gain more. If nothing else, I just want to be able to walk again. If anyone has experienced this and has a similar story, where they were told they will never walk again and did, I would love to hear from you. Even if you were told you’d never walk again and didn’t, I would love to hear how you have coped and moved forward. I am asking for your prayers, love, and hope through this difficult journey. In February of 2018, Pendergrast and Yerrid (pictured directly above) welcomed twins, a baby boy named Logan Joseph and a girl named Layla Rae. Throughout his recovery, Pendergrast said he’s only been able to see one child a time because Yerrid can’t yet travel with both. The Married at First Sight star was previously married to castmate Sonia Granados, but they filed for divorce after almost a year of marriage in 2017. We send Nick all of our thoughts and prayers.

Stephanie Niznik, a peter actress best known for roles on Everwood and Star Trek: Insurrection, died unexpectedly in Encino, California on June 23. She was 52 years old. As of this writing, no official causre of death has been listed by Variety, which broke the sad news, or any other outlet. Niznik rose to prominence due to her role of Nina Feeney, the neighbor of the Brown family and eventual love interest for Dr. Andy Brown (Treat Williams), on Everwood. She portrayed this character for four seasons and recently returned for the show’s 15th anniversary panel at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour in 2017. It is from this event that we took the photos immediately above and below. The actress was a native of Bangor, Maine. She reportedly hoped to become a geneticist prior to graduating from Duke with majors in theater and Russian. From there, Niznik pursued a masters at Cal Arts and then started acting with roles in programs such as Vanishing Son and Murder She Wrote. These roles marked the beginning of an impressive career on the small screen. Niznik also appeared on Nash Bridges and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman before landing a recurring role on Diagnosis Murder. Along with her work on Everwood, she enjoyed recurring roles on Life is Wild and made guest appearances on Lost, NCIS and CSI: Miami, some of the highest-rated series of their era. As mentioned previously, Niznik will likely be best remembered for her extended time on Everwood. But she also played Trill Starfleet Ensign Kell Perim in the feature film Star Trek: Insurrection, returning to the Star Trek universe to play the Wraith in the Rogue Planet episode of the series Star Trek: Enterprise. Niznik also stopped by ABC for an important episode of Grey’s Anatomy; she was on the backdoor pilot special for spinoff series Private Practice, playing Carol in the fan-favorite Season 3 installment. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, brother and sister-in-law, her niece and nephews, aunt and uncle and her beloved dogs Nucleus and Jake. May Stephanie Niznik rest in peace. Not too many people can pull of crude, slapstick comedy quite like Adam Sandler — just add Jennifer Aniston to the mix and you’ve got yourself the perfect comedy flick. Last time the dynamic duo teamed up was back in 2011 with the now cult classic Just Go With It . But the hilarious pair have join forces once again for Murder Mystery . The Netflix original film tells the story of a New York cop and his wife who go on a European vacation to reinvigorate the spark in their marriage, but end up getting framed and go on the run for the death of an elderly billionaire. And needless to say, the film was clever and funny AF — all one hour and 37 minutes of it. I caught with Adam and Jennifer and they dished on murder mysteries, Saturday Night Live, and of course, Friends. When asked about his favorite Friends episode, the Happy Madison Productions founder said: “The one where Rachel spills hot coffee on herself. That was the best one. Come on, do it again!” As for Jennifer’s favorite SNL skit starring Sandler, she quickly answered: “Oh I love Opera Man! Love it. She is clad in a lace bodysuit with fabric wing like apparatuses lining her arms and silhouette. The custom-made piece is how we’re used to seeing her — flamboyant and over-the-top. Her eyes aren’t hidden behind sunglasses. A clear sign she’s sober. “I wouldn’t consider myself an alcoholic. I’ve gone to rehab. I’ve been 4 months sober now.” We applaud the former Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star. “I probably started drinking more filming the show,” says Tommie. “Dealing with family issues with my mom. That caused a lot of my stressors. It’s been my way to cope for a minute,” she admitted. Tommie’s drinking has seemingly been the source of her legal issues, but if you let her tell it, she’s not drinking because she’s an alcoholic. She’s drinking to cope with profound issues. Molested by her uncle; in and out of juvenile centers for running away at a young age; and a strained and toxic relationship with her mother have all contributed to Tommie’s dysfunction. “After seeing myself after the seasons and seeing how, in my real life, I just couldn’t deal to a certain extent because it was a lot of things hitting me at once, [drinking] was like a tranquilizer.” Source: Nagina Lane / iONEDigital She admits her fault in many of the situations we’ve seen play out in front of our eyes. “I’m not the victim, I’m usually the villain in the situation.” On January 7, 2019, Tommie was indicted on child abuse charges when it was reported she drunkenly “bashed” her daughters head into a school locker. The report, compounded with numerous jail stints and an abundance of mug shots, heightened the negative narrative surrounding the TV personality and fans, who supported her ready to throw in the proverbial towel. In layman’s terms, we were rooting for you took physical form. “Everything in that report was untrue,” says Tommie. “Physical abuse is the last form of punishment for children in my household. I can count the times I had to be physical with my children on my hand because I could take their phone or put them on punishment. We have a good relationship.” But when Tommie’s 11-year-old daughter, an honor roll student, began getting in trouble at school, she panicked. It felt too familiar despite her sacrifices in life to give her children what she never had. Prior to the incident that led to her arrest, Tommie reveals her daughter had gotten ahold of edible marijuana treats, which she distributed to her classmates. Tommie received a call that students had to be hospitalized because they were high. She immediately lawyered up to prevent her daughter from facing further legal trouble. “I’m scared as hell,” she reveals. “Nobody said anything for a while then I got a letter in the mail from the police that the state was charging my daughter. I have a juvenile record for running away because my mother’s living conditions were f*cked up. Basically we lived in a shelter — my mom, her boyfriend and my family, she has seven kids. I was in high school. I was embarrassed. I used to get off the school bus at the apartments by the hotel next to us because I didn’t want anyone to know I was living in a hotel.” Her daughter’s brush with the law was triggering and Tommie handled it the most effective way she knew how. “I know what affected me the most when I was younger, me getting my ass whooped in school. I was chopping up chalk and saying it was coke and that my parents sold drugs and I was a dealer. My mother came to school and beat my a** in front of the whole gym and I knew I ain’t never want her to come back up to that school.” Prior to the incident in question, Tommie took her daughter on a road trip and had a heart-to-heart with the pre-teen. “I had a talk with my daughter that weekend, like ‘You have to do good. We got the lawyer but you can’t mess up at all. He’s going to make this go away but you can’t do anything bad, which I thought was understood.” That Tuesday, Tommie received another call and popped up at her daughter’s school to find her “lolligagging and laughing” in the nurses office. After refusing to take her teacher out of fear of being embarrassed, Tommie said she reacted. “I took her hoodie and I jacked her up against the locker.” She added, “I’m the last person who’s going to hurt my kids.” Following the incident, a resource officer took a warrant out on Tommie. She was later rearrested for “stalking” after her daughter told police she had been in contact with her. “My daughter thought she was helping me,” she explains. When asked if she had seen her mom, her daughter lied and said she had cooked her breakfast that morning. Technically, though a lie, it was a violation of her bond order. She was arrested again. “This situation really hurt me” she says fighting back tears. “It hurt my family.” Rehab allowed Tommie to self-reflect. While she doesn’t consider her relationship with alcohol on the level of others in treatment, it held a mirror up to her battle with depression. She realized “You have a real good chance to do something with your life and you can lose it all with one mistake.” Since being released just a week ago, Tommie says she’s focused on her music. “It’s therapy for me. I have a lot of truth in there. I have club sh*t you can vibe to. It’s a release for me My EP is coming soon. We’re going to finish what we started before all this happened. I have a song with Anthony Hamilton called Truth out now. She is also promoting her documentary that was originally supposed to chronicle the road to her EP. Instead it captured her during a turbulent time in her life. Watch it, here .
