#UCCShooting: Crazed 26-Year-Old Shooter Identified, Described As “Angry Young Man Filled With Hate”

Religion May Have Been A Motivation For UCC Mass Shooter Yesterday the nation stood in shock, again, after news broke that there was ANOTHER mass shooting that took the lives of young people seeking an education. Umpqua Community College lost 9 students as a 26-year-old shooter named Chris Harper Mercer arrived on campus armed with 3 firearms with murderous intentions. According to the NYDailyNews, the shooter’s social media profile revealed that was a “fan” of the IRA (Irish Republican Army), other mass shootings in America and may have been hinting at his plans to terrorize UCC. Police believe that religion was a motivation for the violent massacre. Those victims had been forced to say their religions at gunpoint before Mercer fired on them, according to widely-cited eyewitness accounts. “The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” according to a Twitter user who said a relative had survived the shooting.”If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.” Also of note… A dating profile from the religious singles site Spiritual Passions also may hold some clues. Mercer identified himself as an “introvert” and “teetotaller” who was “not religious, not religious, but spiritual.” He called himself mixed race, a conservative Republican and said he was “always dieting.” The profile is titled “IRONCROSS45,” which could be a reference to the German military medal last used by Nazi troops in World War II. A blog that has been linked to him was last updated on Wednesday with an uploaded documentary on the 2013 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., according to CBS News. In another post, he discussed Vester Lee Flanagan, the shooter who gunned down two Virginia journalists on live TV in August. “I have noticed that so many people like [Flanagan] are alone and unknown, yet when they spill a little blood, the whole world knows who they are,” Mercer wrote. “A man who was known by no one, is now known by everyone. His face splashed across every screen, his name across the lips of every person on the planet, all in the course of one day. Seems like the more people you kill, the more you’re in the limelight.” Sounds like this guy was not only a psycho, but looking for a lil’ bit of fame at the expense of 9 human lives. What the HELL is going on in this world?! SMH.

Victoria Soto, Connecticut Teacher, Dies a Hero Saving Students

Out of the horror of the Connecticut school shooting Friday came incredible acts of selflessness and bravery by teachers willing to sacrifice everything for their students. Kaitlin Roig was able to save her 14 students by barricading them in the closet. She also survived. Victoria Soto was just as heroic, but not so fortunate. Soto, 27, a first-grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, ushered her students into a closet, placing her body between them and shooter Adam Lanza . “She was found huddled over her children, her students, doing instinctively what she knew was the right thing,” her cousin Jim Wiltsie tells ABC News. “I’m proud that Vicki had the instincts to protect her kids from harm. It brings peace to know she was doing what she loved, protecting the children, and, in our eyes, she’s a hero.” Victoria Soto was among the six adults, all women, killed in the Connecticut shooting massacre that also took the lives of 20 children, 12 girls and eight boys. The gunman, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, took his own life. His mother was also killed in a different location, bringing the Newtown, Conn., death toll to 28 in all. “It doesn’t surprise me at all that she would do this,” Sabeena Ali, the parent of a girl who was in Soto’s class two years ago, tells People magazine. Ali calls Soto a “vibrant young woman who loved the kids and would be with the kids and spend time with them and sit on the floor with them.” Two years later, her daughter – now a third-grader – still idolized Soto. “Every day there was some new Miss Soto story we had to listen to: ‘This is what she did, this is how wonderful she was today,'” says Ali. “She would bring in snacks for the kids and do special days.”

Aurora Movie Theater to Pay for Victim Funeral Services

The movie theater inside which James Holmes took the lives of 12 people last Friday is offering to pay for the funerals of those lost in the massacre. As first reported by TMZ, several services were held this week, including one for a 32-year old mother of two named Rebecca Wingo. And insiders say the owners of Cinemark called the chapel where her funeral was being held and made it clear it would cover the expenses for Wingo and also all other victims of the tragedy. Rebecca’s mother actually turned down the offer, sources confirm, but only because the Victims Advocate Fund has already paid for everyone’s main funeral expenses. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all those affected by this terrible incident.
