Glee’s Cory Monteith tribute episode gave the Fox series it highest rating since September of 2012. The tear filled goodbye to Monteith’s character Finn brou…
Speaking out about the death of Cory Monteith , Glee creator Ryan Murphy has revealed how the show will handle the loss of one of its biggest stars. Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter that he and the rest of the cast are still grieving: “It’s always sad and shocking when somebody so young dies.” “One of the things that made it even more upsetting is that so many of us who knew and loved him were actively involved in trying to get him better.” “When you’re faced with something so sad and so shocking, what do you do? Do we cancel the show? Do we start shooting in January? What do we do?” “The right thing to do for the show, at this point, is to have that character pass,” Murphy says of his plans for the premiere, which was pushed back a week . “Ultimately, we decided the best thing for everyone is to get back to work and be around people who knew him and loved him so that everyone can grieve together.” “When we do a tribute episode to [his] character, we’ll do it in a way where the cast will not have to re-create feelings of grief they’ve had this week, but do it in an upbeat way.” Murphy says the role of Finn Hudson, McKinley High’s football star-turned-glee clubber, will not be re-cast, and the season’s third episode will be a tribute. Murphy said he told Cory Monteith’s costar and real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele , that he would understand if she didn’t want to return to Glee this fall. She said that was not an option, however, and will be back. Glee returns Thursday, October 26.
Oops, Glee did it again. And it pissed Britney Spears off this time. The Fox musical aired its second tribute episode in honor of the pop icon last Thursday, but sources tell Access Hollywood that Spears felt anything but honored by how she was portrayed. Glee Covers Britney Spears Her manager spoke to Billy Bush and said the artist’s team was unaware the show would revisit Britney’s troubled times – referencing her infamous buzzcut and atrocious ” Gimme More ” performance at the 2007 Video Music Awards – and was “livid” over the depiction. On “Britney 2.0,” Heather Morris’ Brittany laments having to repeat her senior year and dons a costume similar to Britney’s in 2007 for a school assembly. It ends in disaster. Many have been miffed as to why Glee would bash Spears, who is now a fellow Fox employee on The X Factor and who actually appeared on a Season 2 episode. However, the episode in question did conclude on a positive note, with Morris’ character saying she wanted to be like Spears because “no matter what happened to her, she just came back stronger.”
‘It was literally perfect,’ the actress deadpans about stepping on a rusty nail on her final day. By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart in “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” Photo: Summit This fall’s final installment of “The Twilight Saga” will leave fans feeling bitter-sweet. While excitement bubbles with the anticipation of seeing ” Breaking Dawn – Part 2 ” finally grace the big screen, it wavers a bit with the realization that the cast has put away their golden contacts for good. When MTV News caught up with Kristen Stewart , she told us what her last moments on set were like after filming “Breaking Dawn” reshoots. Keeping true to KStew’s honest nature, it wasn’t filled with teary-eyed goodbyes or a final empowering line from the script. Instead, she injured herself. “The very last thing I did was step on a rusty nail,” she said, “before a big promotional tour, running barefoot through fake woods.” That’s pretty typical Stewart behavior if you ask us. “I know! It was literally perfect,” she continued. “I was like, ‘I need to do this on a ‘Twilight’ set before I had to go wear heels in front of the entire world and have people go, ‘She’s just ridiculous with the heel situation.’ It’s like, ‘No, I promise you I actually hurt myself again!’ ” The filming for both parts of “Breaking Dawn” wrapped back in April 2011, but director Bill Condon revealed reshoots were in store for April 2012. On the film’s official Facebook page he wrote, “Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen will be there too, to pop in those gold contacts one last time.” But with the rest of the cast absent and the glitzy wrap parties over, Stewart said the final filming felt a bit anticlimactic. “I also wasn’t there on the very last day that Bill finished. I think he had a few pick up shots. When they wrapped me and Rob — you know, people clap for the actors when they wrap because they wrap before everyone else — it felt so ridiculous. We were like, ‘Why are you guys clapping right now? Yeah, good on you, too.’ ” she said as she began clapping and mimicking the confused look on her and Rob’s faces. “I came back to set to do the same for Bill,” she continued, “and he was like, ‘I have to come back tomorrow to shoot, like, Volturi feet running through snow.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, damn, bye.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Fox comedy will also move to Thursday, like ‘X Factor,’ where Brit has signed on to judge. By Jocelyn Vena Heather Morris and Britney Spears on the set of “Glee” Photo: Facebook After drawing record ratings the first time around, “Glee” has announced plans to pay homage to Britney Spears … one more time. The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Spears will join the “X Factor” as judge, when the competition show returns to Fox this fall on Thursday nights. (Glee also moves to Thursdays for season four.) While Brit appeared in the September 2010 tribute episode, which used her impressive collection of hits, the 2012 tribute episode will instead focus on her “Glee” namesake, Brittany S. Pierce (played by Heather Morris), without any appearances from Spears. EW.com reports that the new episode will be the second in the show’s fourth season, returning in the fall. The Spears-centric episode will feature eight of her songs, and a source revealed that Fox is excited to have Spears joining the network on “X Factor” and that the “Glee” ep is partly a reflection of that. Spears was on hand Monday at the Fox Upfront presentation in New York City, where she appeared alongside fellow “X Factor” newbie Demi Lovato , as well as returning judges L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell. At the event, the judges and host of “So You Think You Can Dance” weighed in on the ladies joining the show . “I don’t have any advice for those ladies,” “SYTYCD” host Cat Deeley told MTV News. “What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I love the idea that they’ve been in the business for so long and since being kids, and so quite often they’ve had successes and they’ve had failures on things. “And I think the most important thing is the mistakes we make,” she added. “You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I think they’ll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. I think it’s a great booking.” Are you excited for another Britney tribute episode on “Glee”? Tell us what songs you want to hear in the comments section! Related Artists Britney Spears
Despite previous reports that Britney Spears would not personally appear on the Glee tribute episode devoted to her, creator Ryan Murphy says she will ! Just last week, star Jane Lynch said that the episode was very much in the works, musically and plot-wise, but the pop singer herself would not appear . So much for that. On Ryan Seacrest’s radio show today, Murphy said Brit is 100 percent “going to be on the episode,” likely as a dental assistant to John Stamos’ character. “The Britney episode is so reverential about her and so kind and it’s about her music and it’s not about her personal life,” Murphy revealed to Seacrest. The girl on the right has shown her face many times from about 2005-present, but Britney Spears on the left will be the focal point of Glee’s tribute episode . “And I think, Britney Spears is pop culture, and I think she’s been through a lot. And I wanted to do something that just sort of says, you know what, ‘thank you for who you are and what you have done.'” Hopefully that includes a head-shaving, as rumored. Regardless, it should include a rendition of “Baby One More Time,” as this Lea Michele pic shows. As for the other tribute songs, which would you rather hear when the episode airs September 28 (the season premieres a week earlier)? Vote below:
The upcoming Britney Spears Glee tribute episode may have been the pop star’s management’s own idea, but the singer herself will not be appearing in it. “Britney’s not in it,” Jane Lynch told reporters today at her wax figure unveiling at Madame Tussaud’s in Hollywood, Calif. “It’s a tribute to her music.” Even though Spears herself will be absent from the episode, Lynch promises that tales from entertainer’s real life will be tied into the show’s storyline. One of our all-time favorite tales, in fact. “It’s kind of [about] how Matt [Morrison]‘s character Mr. Schuster doesn’t see any value in her and the kids really do,” she says. “And at the end [of the episode], he comes around and he likes [her music] so much, he shaves his head.” Great moments in celebrity gossip – and soon, Glee . Who would have guessed Britney shaving her head would one day inspire an episode of a Fox comedy about a glee club. You can’t make this stuff up. On the subjects of Spears and Glee , her ex Justin Timberlake has been rumored to appear on the series also … and also isn’t likely to actually do so. “I love him,” the show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy, who also wrote the screenplay for Eat, Pray, Love , told reporters last week at TCA. “But I think somebody just said, ‘Do you want him?’ And I think Lea [Michele] said, ‘He’s my favorite.’” “Suddenly, he was on the show.” Too bad he won’t be in person … but there’s always room for some *NSync adaptions, are we right? Actually no, let’s say bye, bye bye to that idea.
