T he late rapper Tupac Shakur ’s impact and influence spanned far beyond the music industry. Shakur was known for using his platform to bring attention to issues faced by the Black community. 22 years after his tragic death, Temple University is paying homage to the rapper by adding some of his belongings to their Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection, USA Today reported. A collection of items belonging to the late Tupac Shakur—including jewelry and several handwritten documents—are now part of the @BlocksonTU Collection. https://t.co/XrIVyf1g8G — Temple University (@TempleUniv) November 1, 2018 The collection—which is known for being one of the most extensive collections of items that captures the essence of the Black experience in America and beyond—has nearly 500,000 items, the news outlet writes. Amongst Tupac’s items that will be added include handwritten lyrics from some of his most popular songs, handwritten track listings and his jewelry. All the items were donated by Goldin Auctions of Runnemede. The Philadelphia-based university offers a course that explores the legacy of Shakur. “He’s a hip-hop icon,” Diane Turner , a curator of the Blockson collection said in a statement, according to the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education . “This is a significant, contemporary addition to our already impressive collection of music items, ranging from African instruments to material from John Coltrane, Grover Washington Jr. and Natalie Hinderas. We are thrilled.” News about the donation comes shortly after the 22nd anniversary of his first posthumous album Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory . Dirty Game: Georgia NAACP Charges That Voting Machines Are Changing Stacey Abrams Votes To Brian Kemp

Image via John Bazemore-Pool/Getty Images Georgia NAACP Says Voting Machines Are Incorrectly Registering Votes The great American wordsmith Tupac Shakur once warned us to “keep your eyes on your riches”, and never has such sage advice been more applicable than in the case of the valuable gubernatorial votes that have been cast early for Stacey Abrams. According to USAToday , the Georgia chapter of the NAACP has filed a complaint with the shady Secretary Of State, and Stacey Abrams opponent (no conflict of interest there…), Brian Kemp, stating that there are malfunctioning voting machines that are logging votes for Abrams as votes for Kemp. *side-eye* The complaint details failure of machines in both Bartow and Dodge counties to correctly register the votes that people have cast. “We’ve experienced this before,” said Phyllis Blake, president of the Georgia NAACP. “They ended up taking these old dilapidated machines out of service. The ones giving the problems. They should have been replaced about 10 years ago.” This suspicious situation is just another reason to distrust Brian Kemp amidst previous charges that the Secretary of State is suppressing the vote of over 53,000 people who are likely to vote for Stacey Abrams. “If warranted, our office will open a formal investigation on behalf of the State Election Board,” Candice Broce, a spokeswoman, said in an email. “We always encourage voters to reach out to our office if they experience any issues or witness any suspicious activity at the polls.” You have to see how important it is to vote. So many people believe that voting doesn’t matter and this story should serve as the most damning evidence to the contrary. If the votes don’t matter then why are people like Brian Kemp so concerned about turnout and why is he working so hard to keep people away from the polls? “Vote for @staceyabrams , that’s a win, win, win, win!” #TeamAbrams is fired up. We’re energized. We’re mobilized. And we’re working hard to make Stacey Abrams our next #GAGov ! https://t.co/qpjf1AGB18 @jayrock #GetOutTheVoteChallenge #gapol pic.twitter.com/jqyCoPyxlS — Team Abrams – Vote Early TODAY (@teamabrams) October 21, 2018 November 6, go f***ing vote!
