Battleship Director Peter Berg to Israeli Interviewer: ‘Are You a Draft Dodger?’

Now here’s the way to make your run of the mill Battleship junket interview way more interesting: Turn the tables on your talking-head interviewer by grilling him on Israel’s nuclear policy and why he didn’t serve his compulsory service in the military. Which is what Peter Berg did to one unsuspecting journalist for Israel’s Channel 10. While sitting for an on-camera chat about his summer blockbuster, Berg went off on TV interviewer Jason Danino-Holt about issues that, he admits, are much more important than his movie about aliens adapted from a board game. Instead of talking up his pop starlet cast member or his excitement for the film (okay, he managed to squeeze that in, too — what a pro!), Berg launched into Israeli arms policy as Danino-Holt sat, seemingly befuddled. By the time Berg asks, “Are you a draft dodger?” and shouts, “You’ve gotta join the army, motherfucker!” this has automatically become the stuff of legend. Berg’s big shiny summer blockbuster has a heavy military element — it’s very much pro-servicemen and women, and big on international cooperation between nations that, granted, can unite against a common extraterrestrial enemy without dealing with the tricky human realities of real world politics. Does Battleship give Berg the moral ground to badger a perfect stranger for not joining the army? Well, no. Is this 100 times more interesting than hearing him talk about ships and aliens and Rihanna? Hell yes. Make your weekend movie plans accordingly. [ Pajiba via Complex ]

Taylor Swift ‘Absolutely Traumatized’ By Justin Bieber’s ‘Punk’d’

Singer rules out revenge on Justin after he made her believe she had ruined a couple’s wedding day. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift on “Punk’d” Photo: MTV On the season premiere of “Punk’d” on March 29 , Justin Bieber had some fun pulling pranks on his pals Sean Kingston, Rob Dyrdek, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift . Swift’s punk was particularly memorable, as the singer was left in tears after Bieber made her believe she ruined a wedding. The premise: Bieber and his pal, Ryan Good, talked her into launching off a special firecracker that was sent to them. That firecracker launched off farther than they could have expected and set a boat on fire. That boat had a wedding party on it. And, Swift believed she ruined a couple’s big day. Of course, she hadn’t. When CMT Insider asked if she would ever get back at him by, say, flour-bombing, she replied, “No, I’m not gonna do that to somebody! I love Justin. I would never do that to him and I’m not really that girl that’s like, ‘I’m gonna get him! I’m gonna get him back!’ … cause he’s too smart. I’d never be able to punk him. Like, he’d figure it out, then turn the tables on me and then it would be Justin: two, Taylor: zero.” All eyes were on Swift throughout the specially designed prank, eyes that she later learned included the youngest members of the First Family when she caught up with Sasha and Malia at the Kids’ Choice Awards. “They told me they saw the ‘Punk’d’ episode, so now I know they’ve seen me absolutely traumatized and terrified, so that was good.” Did you catch the premiere of “Punk’d”? Alex Da Kid: Dr. Dre Trusted Me With ‘I Need A Doctor’

Producer talks to Mixtape Daily about Eminem-featuring Detox track. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Steven Roberts Alex Da Kid Photo: Gabriel Bouys/AFP/Getty Images Behind the Beats: Alex Da Kid At this rate, Alex Da Kid might want to consider changing his name to Alexander Da Great pretty soon. The British beatsmith was nominated for two Grammys this week for his work on B.o.B’s blockbuster hit “Nothin’ On You” and Eminem’s chart-topper “Love the Way You Lie.” He also produced Nicki Minaj’s “Massive Attack.” While he only has a few placements under his belt, the producer has a knack for knocking what he does do out of the park. His next big single comes courtesy of his work with Dr. Dre. The veteran hip-hop producer invited Alex Da Kid to work with him on a track for his forthcoming Detox project, “I Need a Doctor” featuring Eminem. “That was amazing,” ADK told Mixtape Daily about the experience. “He’s one of my favorite producers of all time. Everybody knows how much of a perfectionist he is: He’s been working on his album for 11 years. For him to bring me in, trust me, not micro-manage me, and let me bring what I do to the table, I can’t even describe how that makes me feel.” The song recently arrived online, and on the number, Eminem attempts to turn the tables on his mentor. The MC credited Dre with being one of the people to help him out of his funk the past few years, so on “I Need a Doctor,” Em looks to repay the producer. “It hurts when I see you struggle/ You come to me with ideas/ You say they’re pieces, so I’m puzzled,” Eminem raps on the track. ” ‘Cause the sh– I hear is crazy/ But you’re either getting lazy/ Or don’t believe in you no more/ Seem like your own opinion is not one you can form/ Can’t make a decision/ You keep questioning yourself, second guessing/ It’s almost like you’re begging for my help/ Like I’m your leader; you’re supposed to be my mentor/ I can endure no more/ Don’t you remember who you are?” “I think it’s gonna be huge,” Alex Da Kid said. “It’s just my opinion, but it’s one of my favorite songs that I did and just what it means for hip-hop.” Next Wave of Flav

Nicolas Cage Decides to Make Trespass After All, Probably

Nicolas Cage just can’t make his mind up about the new Joel Schumacher thriller Trespass . Originally set to star with Nicole Kidman as a husband and wife who turn the tables on their kidnappers, Cage then decided he’d rather play the lead kidnapper before ditching the project entirely as of yesterday. Now, like a wayward Amish youth with a Rumspringa hangover, Cage has returned to the film in his original role. We give it a week before he switches parts with Nicole Kidman. [ Deadline ]
