Tragic news today out of the world of professional sports: Garrett Reid, the son of Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid, was found dead in his room at the club’s training camp at Lehigh University. He was 29. Reid’s body was found by local police after a 911 call was placed at 7:20 a.m. Police chief Edward Shupp says “no suspicious activities” have been reported. The team gathered for practice this morning, without Andy Reid present, and said a prayer prior to assistant coaches leading the squad through a walk-through. Garrett and younger brother Britt have each battled substance abuse problems over the years. They were arrested on drug charges after two separate traffic accidents in 2007 and Garrett was in jail off and on in 2009. “This is a tough morning for all of us in the Eagles family,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said. “Garrett grew up with this team and this makes this news even harder for us to process.”

She’s dead,” awhile another is equally disturbing: “Ellen Page if you continue to date Alexander [Skarsgard] I will K-1-L-L you in public in the next year … Be it in a club, at a game, in a restaurant, or when you’re signing autographs.” The Tweets have been removed, but authorities continue to look into the issue. Making the threats even more eerie and worth taking seriously? Organizers of the LA Film Festival, where Page premiered To Rome with Love on June 14, received a phone call around the same time from someone who said he would show up at the event and “kill” the actress.

The Bachelorette finale that featured a tear-filled engagement bewteen Emily Maynard and Jef Holm also endeared millions to Arie Luyendyk, Jr. While the majority of viewers are happy for – and confident in – Emily and Jef, the response to Arie Luyendyk has been overwhelmingly positive. In other words, contrary to what the tabloids would have you believe. The runner-up, who was the subject of wild, crazy and sometimes hurtful gossip reports throughout the season, has finally taken them to task. Numerous magazines have painted Arie as a womanizer who only went on the show for publicity; an ex-girlfriend of his even got in on the act. In addition, “insiders” claimed Emily Maynard was dumped by Arie despite wanting him to receive the final rose, with Jef winning by default. Tuesday, Arie Luyendyk, Jr., who has wished Emily and Jef well, took to his Twitter page to address the stories, albeit without specifics: “It’s been brought to my attention what all the tabloids are saying. IT’S ALL FALSE, I mean where do they come up with this crap?! #carryon.” Carry on he will … very possibly into The Bachelor driver’s seat. It seems all but a lock that Arie or Sean Lowe will be the next Bachelor , and given the former’s popularity, you have to think he has the edge. Who would you like it to be?
