Amber Portwood came face-to-face with her 14-month old son on Thursday, July 18. She also came face-to-face with her brand new reality. The troubled Teen Mom OG cast member was a rrested for felony domestic violence back on July 5 and, shortly thereafter, was barred from going near the victim of her alleged assault, boyfriend Andrew Glennon, or the couple's child, baby James. As such, she hadn't see her son for nearly two weeks after being taken into custody. This finally changed on the aforementioned date — but Portwood was unable to spend actual alone time with James. Her New Reality As we said up top, Portwood was charged with THREE felonies after she allegedly attacked Glennon in early July — while he was holding their young son in his arms. 2. Why? What Happened? According to various reports, Amber got really mad at Andrew because the family missed a July 4th fireworks show. She responded by throwing a shoe at him, striking Glennon in the neck. 3. But That Wasn’t All Far from it, in fact. 4. Oh, God, What Else? Glennon told police that he ran and locked himself – along with James – inside of a bathroom. This is when Amber allegedly grabbed a machete and used it to try and break through the door. 5. Andrew Claims That Amber Threatened Suicide He even says she downed a number of pills in front of him, only to eventually throw them back up. 6. As a Result of All This? Source: RYAN MCBRIDE / Getty First Black Mayor Of Upper Marlboro Resigns Amidst Racist Bullying A Maryland mayor is stepping down from her position after saying she’s been the victim of racists attacks and bullying. According to NBC 4 , Mayor Tonga Turner of Upper Marlboro is resigning and residents claim it wasn’t until she made her announcement that the alarming incidents came to light. “I am writing to inform you that effective Friday, June 21, 2019, I will no longer be serving as mayor and president of the board of commissioners for the town of Upper Marlboro,” Turner wrote in a letter, which cited progress in having secured $800,000 in grants, legislation that advanced economic development and the creation of “an outreach team that is focused on diversity and inclusion.” Turner continued: “It is no secret that the Town of Upper Marlboro has been plagued with a dark history and past, but my hope is that in the past two years under my leadership, each of you has seen the great promise for our future.” Turner is Upper Marlboro’s first Black mayor, and she said the bullying began as soon as she first took office, according to people at a Monday town hall meeting. Folks say the incidents included everything from her tires being slashed to a former town commissioner sketching swastikas DURING A TOWN HALL MEETING. “She explained a lot about receiving threatening emails and being called certain words from her constituents,” Upper Marlboro resident Angel Saules explained. “Her tires have been slashed, from what I understand. And then kind of like the kicker and I think what made it be a part of the meeting is that someone who attends very regularly had been sketching swastika signs.” Another Upper Marlboro resident, Monica Wilson, took a photo after noticing a guy at Monday’s meeting drawing swastikas in a yellow legal pad. Multiple sources confirmed the man was a former town commissioner. “And I look over and see him scribbling swastikas over and over again,” Wilson said. “He flips the pages, continues to scribble additional swastikas.” Like whaaa?! “There have been some things that have happened during her year and a half as mayor that she did talk about at the town meeting last night,” town spokesman Ray Feldmann explained. “There have been some incidents that she’s had to deal with, but those were not incidents that had anything to do with her resignation.” Feldmann said that while the racism has been challenging, Turner gave up her mayoral position to spend more time with family. But he also acknowledged the mayor’s progressive views received some pushback. “She is about not accepting the status quo, shaking things up, and that has not been acceptable to a lot of people,” Feldmann said. Interestingly enough, Upper Marlboro is apart of Prince George’s County, Maryland, which is predominately Black. Of course, White folks still occupy space in Upper Marlboro’s town of 657 people, and it seems the town’s history of once being predominantly White is showing its ugly face. Smh. WSBTV reports that two men lost their lives this holiday weekend at Lake Lanier. A 30-year-old man, Reginald Whitehad, was on a jet ski and trying to pull it onto a boat ramp at Shoal Creek Park when the watercraft flipped over around 8 p.m. Search crews recovered Whitehad’s body around 10:45 p.m. Authorities told WSBTV that the victim was from Perry, Ga. and did not know how to swim. He was also not wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident. AHEAD IN OUR NEXT HOUR: 30 year old Reginald Whitehad drowned on Lake Lainer after his jet ski flipped over Saturday night. His friends confirmed this picture of him to me. In it, he has a life jacket on. According to a report in the DailyStar , the boy found a metal pipe protruding from the wall in his home that was the perfect height to get his hump on. The thing is after he got his alloy afternoon delight, he had some trouble pulling his pipe out of the pipe. After trying to free himself, the boy eventually had to call his roommates for help and they laughed, and laughed, and laughed until they eventually called emergency services. Senior Fire Officer Seniman Idris of the Tangkak Fire and Rescue Station said they received an emergency call from the victim’s residence at around 10pm on May 20. He said: “The metal pipe is about six inches in length with a [thickness] of 5 millimetres, and is no longer used. The firemen had to cut the pipe first.” In order to cut the pipe, the fireman had to use a circular saw. Just the thought of it makes us queasy. Once the pipe was removed from the wall the boy was taken to the hospital to get the pipe removed from his mashed up member. SMFH.
D ominique Clayton was a 32-year-old mother of four in Oxford, Mississippi. On Sunday, she was reportedly murdered inside her home and her body was found by her children. Investigators claim it as possible the two were in a relationship. Jeff McCutchen, interim chief with the Oxford Police Department said, “We want to assure you that we will not hide behind our badge. Our hearts go out to the family of Dominique Clayton. To the family, we thank you for your patience and your trust in us to see this through.” There have not been many details releases about her death but WREG says, “A family member said Monday that Clayton’s body was lying on her bed and there was a lot of blood on the back of her head.” Dominique’s sister Shyjaun Clayton said she’s disappointed there aren’t more details about Kinne’s arrest, saying, “Hopefully he’ll get convicted. Source: CBS Photo Archive / Getty MusiCares Reveals The Mac Miller Legacy Fund The Mac Miller Legacy Fund has officially been launched by MusiCares, and will set out to help young people who are struggling with substance abuse, according to their website. MusiCares, which was created by the Recording Academy back in 1993, announced the non-profit on Thursday in Los Angeles during its annual MusiCares Concert for Recovery. Mac Miller’s very close friend Vince Staples was in attendance to reveal the news during a tribute to the late musician. The Mac Miller Fund—which was founded at the Pittsburgh Foundation by the rapper’s family—will grant $50,000 to help establish the MusiCares Mac Miller Legacy Fund. The site also shares that the legacy fund “is dedicated to helping members of the music community age 27 and under who are facing addiction.” The Mac Miller Fund currently has assets of nearly $1 million, which has been accumulated from donations via the Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life concert that took place last October, along with some contributions from the public. Mac’s family issued a statement after the MusiCares’ announcement saying the following: “These grants celebrate Malcolm’s life and legacy by funding two respected organizations that provide opportunities for young people to realize their talents and potential. It’s critically important to our family to fund a safety net for artists and musicians who are struggling with substance addiction. No life should be cut short for lack of expert help.”
Source: MARK RALSTON / Getty Man Arrested After Beating A Woman With An Electric Scooter A man in California was arrested and charged in the murder of an elderly woman after he allegedly beat her to death with an electric scooter, according to reports from KTLA . 27-year-old Amad Rashad Redding was indicted on Wednesday on one count of murder in the death of 63-year-old Rosa Elena Hernandez. Authorities say that Redding approached Hernandez in Long Beach on Monday afternoon, knocking her to the ground and then proceeding to stomp on the woman’s head. When a bystander tried to help, that is when Redding reportedly took an electric Bird scooter and bludgeoned her to death. Officers who responded to the horrific incident found significant injuries to Hernandez’ upper torso and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police don’t believe that Redding actually knew his victim prior to this incident, and prosecutors described him as a transient who “randomly attacked” Hernandez. One resident did tell the station, however, that she had seen Redding in the neighborhood before. “I’ve seen him, he walks around, I’ve seen him walk around a few times by our house actually,” said Misty Velasco. Hernandez was a local babysitter who had lived in Long Beach for almost 40 years. “She knew everybody in the community, she would walk around, talk to all the Latinas and Latinos who lived in the neighborhood,” Dennis Fitzgerald said. “She did not drive, so she just walked every place.” Redding fled following Monday’s assault but was found about four hours later inside of a business, according to the Los Angeles Times . He was previously arrested back in February for allegedly setting a fire inside his family’s home in Louisiana, as reported by the Louisiana State Fire Marshal . Redding is currently being held on a $2 million bond and faces a possible sentence of 25 years to life in jail if convicted.
