A suspect sketch and clearer video of the man police believe shot and killed 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes on Sunday has been released and the nation as well as Harris County deputies want the man found. In a meeting with the media on Thursday, Jazmine’s mother LaPorsha Washington provided a new description of the suspect. She said he was a white man with blue eyes, wearing a black hoodie and looked “sick” and skinny. Washington also said that the man did not have on glasses and did not have a beard, which was previously reported. Celebrities such as Gabrielle Union, Ava DuVernay, Bun B and more have called on people to help solve her murder. Shaquille O’Neal and DeAndre Hopkins are set to cover Barnes’ funeral costs. Jazmine died after investigators say someone in a red, four-door pickup truck pulled alongside her mother and three sisters as they sat in a car near a Walmart along the east Beltway and Wallisville Road and fired. The truck has yet to be found. A Justice for Jazmine rally has been planned for Saturday at noon in the parking lot of the Walmart on the East Beltway. On Tuesday, January 8, a viewing is planned for Jazmine at 10 a.m., followed by a public funeral at noon to be held at Green House International Church at 200 W. Greens Rd. Purple balloons will be released to the sky in honor of Jazmine and all murder victims in Houston and Harris County following the service. Let some tell it, she kind of bombed, so much so that she was booed, prompting some folks at her sold-out show to walk out. Apparently, “The Last O.G.” star had been “partying all night,” still had some “Ciroc in her system” and had trouble remembering her lines. She ended up cutting her set short, but to make sure the audience still had a good time, she invited some folks up on stage to enjoy some of her vodka and see if they could do stand-up better than her. “F–k it,” she declared. “I really wanted to talk about some stuff and can’t remember none of it.” Was her behavior disappointing? Most definitely. Should everyone get a refund? Absolutely. Or maybe it does. Too often, when Black women have the audacity to excel at their craft, especially in areas that are male dominated, there will always be insecure men who will do and say anything to undermine that success. Hence, all these new rules that Black women have to follow and double standards we must adhere to that men never have to abide by. See, our greatness isn’t always looked at something to celebrate, it can be seen as a threat and a roadblock to other’s accomplishments. ‘Cause be crystal clear: We’re all Black queens, until our stars begin to shine brighter than theirs. Tiffany Haddish just happens to be the one currently in the crosshairs of that misogynist nonsense and her bombing in Miami continues to show us that as Black women we aren’t allowed to make mistakes. There is no room for error. We have to work harder, be smarter and be flawless in order for our talent to get a sliver of the recognition our mediocre male counterparts garner. But whether you love or hate her, Ms. Haddish isn’t going anywhere, but up. Now of course, these fights might result in a lawsuit…or even jail time. But when it comes to the seriousness of your fast food order, a customer’s gotta do what a customer’s gotta do. However, sometimes the customer isn’t always right. Daniel Willis Taylor proved this when he had the audacity to grab a McDonald’s employee by the shirt when he was unhappy with her service. Little did he know that the employee had hands like Joe Frazier. In a clip posted on Facebook, Taylor argues with employee Yasmine James over an incident involving a straw, according to the Atlanta Black Star. The chaos took off around 6:50 p.m. at a Florida location on Monday and witness Kinie Biandudi recorded the most intense moment. The argument between Taylor and James escalated, and Taylor proceeded to reach over the counter and grab James by the shirt. James was not about this life though, so she proceed to unload a round a fists towards Taylor’s face. According to Biandudi, James said she used to box and after the fight Taylor “came back and went behind the counter & tried to fight the manager. The guy left before the cops arrived.” The Pinellas County Police eventually arrested the 40-year-old Taylor, accusing him of assaulting Yasmine James as well as kicking another female employee in the stomach. Smh, like whaaa… According to the report, Taylor was mad that the restaurant had a policy requiring customers to request drinking straws at the front. The footage of him attacking James went viral and many people came to the 20-year-old’s defense. “He should be jailed and she needs to have her job,” one user said. “It was self defense.” James was obviously praised for her hand skills as well. “She showed him those hands real quick tho!” one user wrote. “Someone get her an MMA contract.” McDonald’s came out with a statement regarding the incident saying, “Our highest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants.” But we all know it’s something about those yellow arches that has people seeing red. Fast food toxins maybe? But that’s another story. Until the next Mickey D’s throw-down!
