Meet Hottie Anya Monzikova

According to Wikipedia, Anya Monzikova is a Russian/American model and actress who is currently in enrolled in stunt classes, so that she can do her own stunts when she eventually stars in an action movie. Good news! I’m producing my very own action movie and was looking for a leading lady. If Anya is up for it, there are a few stunts I’d like to work on with her beforehand, and if all goes well, the role is hers. Call me.

Johnny Manziel Heisman Photo: Real or Fake Blunt?

Johnny Manziel puts the high in Heisman, according to a photo making the rounds. The Texas A&M quarterback was photographed kissing college football’s famous trophy this past weekend in Vegas … with the Heisman holding a fat blunt. 2 Chainz would be proud … but is the photo in question even real? Manziel says it is 100 percent fake. He just tweeted: “ABSOLUTELY PHOTOSHOPPED. People are always out to get me … sorry for kissing my trophy.” The pic does sort of look bogus, but then again, Manziel parties hard and posts photos of it on Instagram (remember the casino pic ?) so who knows.

Miley Cyrus Wedding: Still An Eventual Go, Source Claims

The Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth wedding has not been called off, contrary to previous reports, and an insider gives E! News a very good reason why: It was never officially on ! “You can’t postpone a wedding that never had a date in the first place,” the source says, citing articles that claimed the Miley and Liam engagement was over: “Their plan all along was to wait a couple of years before even thinking about a date. The People story is ridiculous.” Cyrus has not been seen with her Catching Fire beau in many weeks, while many have taken note of her bare right index finger. But this same source tells E! that Miley simply “doesn’t wear” her engagement ring “sometimes” and “people shouldn’t read too much into that.” In the end, according to a SECOND mole, the 20-year old artist “loves Liam very much” and the two “are finding things hard right now, but Miley is hopeful it will get worked out.” Millions of fans around the globe hope for the same.

Michael Bay Apologizes for Armageddon!

Quick! Name a silly “popcorn” blockbuster action movie! Did you all say  Armageddon ? I bet you did. Well, Michael Bay agrees with you. The director stated in an interview published yesterday, “I will apologize for  Armageddon .” Whoa! So why exactly does Michael Bay apologize for  Armageddon ? “I would redo the entire third act if I could,” he said. “But the studio literally took the movie away from us. It was terrible. My visual effects supervisor had a nervous breakdown, so I had to be in charge of that.” The film’s production schedule was incredibly rushed, so that the studio could release it in competition with the similarly-themed  Deep Impact . “We had to do the whole movie in 16 weeks. It was a massive undertaking. That was not fair to the movie.”

REVIEW: De Niro, Statham and Clive Owen in a Pizza-Guy Mustache: So This is the Killer Elite?

What do you call an action movie manned by people who look as if they don’t want to be there? An inertia movie? Action movies aren’t just about action — they’re also about presence, about watching appealing or compelling personalities go about the business of kicking ass. Killer Elite features one proven action star, Jason Statham and two actors who have played fewer action roles, Robert De Niro and Clive Owen. But it’s all these actors can do to look present and accounted for. The picture, the debut feature of Irish director Gary McKendry, is rote and joyless, an exercise in disposability.

REVIEW: Hong Kong’s Tsui Hark Makes a Grand, Loopy Spectacle with Detective Dee

When I saw Hong Kong producer-director Tsui Hark’s Detective Dee and the Mystery of Phantom Flame at the Venice Film Festival last year, I lamented that although American viewers would probably be able to track the movie down on DVD or online, the picture wasn’t likely to get a U.S. theatrical release. Happily, I was wrong, and if you’re lucky enough to live in one of the cities where Detective Dee is playing, you too will now have a chance to witness Tsui’s glorious and somewhat unhinged vision as he tackles an episode in the real-life history of China — the ascent of the first female emperor to the throne — adding fanciful touches like spontaneous human combustion and mysterious creepy-crawlies with dangerous powers. It’s the kind of ambitious, loopy spectacle that begs to be seen on the big screen if at all possible.
