Update: Woman Sucker Punched By Officer During Parade Speaks About Anger And Insecurity Over Assault [Video]

We’re still shocked by this video… and now Aida Guzman is finally speaking out after the incident. We showed you the footage of Aida being brutally assaulted by a police officer for no reason at a Puerto Rican Day parade and now police say they will launch a full investigation into the actions of the 19-year veteran cop. According to the Daily News… Mother-of-three Aida Guzman, 39, from Philadelphia, has a swollen and cut lip as well as injuries to her hands and arm after the violent assault from Highway Patrol Lt Jonathan D. Josey II, 40. Speaking at her Chester home yesterday, she said she was angry at the officer’s actions and insists she had done nothing wrong and that she was merely a participant in the parade. Translating for her mother, her daughter Keysha, 19, said her mom was hit from behind and while she was on the ground the officer said: ‘That’s what you get’. She then told him,’It wasn’t me.’ She said: ‘That’s what happened. I didn’t do it. He has no right to put his hands on me. I’m 39, I don’t play games like that. ‘I feel angry, very angry. I go to someplace, got a good time and look this happen, for no reason.’ Lt Josey – a 19-year police veteran who moonlights as an actor and comedian, according to the Philadelphia Daily News-is seen in the video punching Ms Guzman violently in the back of the head after someone else in the crowd throws silly string or water at the officers. In 2006, he nominated himself to be a ‘Daily News Sexy Single’, where he listed his most outstanding feature as his ‘charm and magnetic personality’. In March 2010, Josey was cleared in the fatal shooting of an armed robber at a 7-Eleven and was later cited for bravery. He was stabbed in June 2010 when he was trying to break up a fight at a bar when he was off duty. An internal affairs investigation was launched on Monday and Josey was placed on desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation. Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Ross said of the incident: ‘We’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge that the video is disturbing. ‘Clearly, the one issue at hand is she does appear to be walking away. She does not appear to be facing Lt Josey at that time.’ The 39-year-old was then arrested and was issued a summary citation for disorderly conduct, on which police reported she had thrown beer at them. We hope this ‘man’ gets dropped by the PD and soon. With all of this isht caught on tape, it’d be hard to convince any of us that he wasn’t out of line! Images via facebook/youtube

For Your Information: Romney ‘Health Plan’ Would Leave 72 Mil Uninsured!

How much more can this dude openly admit his plans to take away our rights to health care? According to Politico… Mitt Romney’s health care plan wouldn’t just insure fewer people than “Obamacare” — it would make the uninsured problem worse than it would have been if the law had never passed, according to a comparison of the two plans by a research group with a history of pro-“Obamacare” studies. The analysis by the Commonwealth Fund, a New York-based health care research foundation, found that under Romney’s health care plan, the uninsured population would soar to 72 million by 2022 — 12 million higher than if nothing had been done at all. By contrast, if President Barack Obama’s health care law is fully implemented — including complete state participation in the now voluntary Medicaid expansion — the number of uninsured people would drop from 47.9 million in 2011 to about 27.1 million people in 2022, the report estimated. The number of insured Americans would rise in every age group under the Affordable Care Act and fall in every group under Romney’s plan, Sara Collins, vice president for Commonwealth’s affordable health insurance program, told reporters in a conference call Monday. The report says most of the difference is due to Romney’s plans for Medicaid, which he would turn into block grants, and the expansion of Medicaid that’s planned under the ACA. The gap between those two proposals accounts for about 80 percent of the difference in their impact on the uninsured, according to the analysis. The Romney campaign said the “flawed report” misstates Romney’s proposals and depicts “a fantasy world where Obamacare has been a success.” “Under ObamaCare, Americans have seen their insurance premiums increase, small businesses are facing massive tax increases, and seniors will have reduced access to Medicare services,” Ryan Williams, a Romney spokesman, wrote in an email to POLITICO. “The American people did not want this law, our country cannot afford this law, and when Mitt Romney becomes president he will repeal it and replace it with common-sense, patient-centered reforms that strengthen our health care system.” With all that’s at stake, we hope the extra 12 million people estimated to lose out on Robney’s health care “plan” doesn’t make it past his little soapbox he’s been preaching from. Today’s the day. The Supreme Court will begin hearing oral arguments as to the constitutionality of various provisions of the Affordable Care Act. Note that phrase: “Various provisions.” The Supreme Court is not looking at the act as a whole. Rather, it’s considering four separate questions related to separate parts of the law. Here’s my colleague Sarah Kliff with a primer of what they are, and why… Broadcasting platform : Vimeo Source : Ezra Klein Discovery Date : 26/03/2012 01:01 Number of articles : 2

The Millennium Technology Prize trophy, named “Peak,” features a silicon tip. Back in 1991, Professor Michael Graetzel from the Lausanne Polytechnic invented what’s now called the Graetzel Cell , a non-photovoltaic solar cell made of a layer of titanium dioxide, glass and a dye from fruit that absorbs sunlight like the chlorophyll in green leaves. The Swiss professor has since continued deve… Read the full story on TreeHugger
