The baller is now adding safe housing to the school he founded in his hometown, so that students have a stable place to live while they get their education. The Ohio native announced on Monday that a historic apartment building in Akron is being renovated and turned into transitional housing for families in need at his ‘I Promise’ School. https://twitter.com/KingJames/status/1191387812404322304?s=20 “Initially, our work was focused on helping these kids earn an education. But we’ve found that it is impossible to help them learn if they are struggling to survive — if they are hungry, if they have no heat in the freezing winter, if they live in fear for their safety,” James said in a statement. “We want this place to be their home where they feel safe, supported, and loved, knowing we are right there with them every step of the way as they get back on their feet.” James and his foundation opened the school for at-risk third and fourth graders in 2018 and plans to expand to first through eighth grade by the year 2022. LeBron has promised free tuition to the University of Akron when the students graduate. The foundation is currently working on the project with Graduate Hotels, which operates boutique hotels in college towns around the United States. Graduate is going to renovate the historic Westmont apartment building, located approximately five blocks from the school in Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood to donate the apartments to the school. “The I Promise Village by Graduate Hotels will be a monumental next step for us and LeBron and his Foundation’s commitment to the future of the students and their families,” said Graduate Hotels founder and CEO Ben Weprin in a statement. “It’s humbling to see the change they are affecting on a daily basis and we’re honored to be a part of the journey.” The building currently has 22 units and the foundation said renovations will start immediately, since it’s scheduled to be operational in July when the next school year begins.

Source: WENN/ Apega / WENN Irv Gotti Defends Ashanti’s Reputation On “Wendy” Show Appearance Give Irv Gotti some credit, the Murder Inc. mogul appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” Monday to help clear up rumors started after Williams aired a recent clip of Irv and his family on “Growing Up Hip Hop: New York,” where he revealed he’d bedded his former artist Ashanti before his divorce was finalized from his ex-wife, Deb, who also appeared in the clip. Gotti addressed the situation directly with Williams live on her show, saying: “Ashanti is not a homewrecker, guys,” he went on. “Ashanti had nothing to do with me and Deb. Deb caught me when I was directing ‘I Cry’ in Baltimore. Deb, being the vicious person she is, she came down unannounced, ‘I’m Mrs. Lorenzo, give me the room key.’ The door was latched, but she knows I’m in there. That’s what broke me and Deb up.” Irv went on to say he and Deb had been separated and added that Williams didn’t want to be hypocritical seeing as how she had been out in these skreets zippin’ and zooin’ before finalizing her own divorce. He has a point. But do you think he’s done enough to clear Ashanti’s name? Or has the damage already been done? Gotti also confirmed that Ashanti was indeed a background vocalist on J.Lo’s hit song “I’m Real”: “Ashanti was a background vocalist, that’s it, period, don’t make a big thing about it,” he went on. “Yes, it was her voice, but you know how many records have background vocals? Why y’all making a big thing out of it? Ashanti wasn’t a star, she was just in the studio with me, and I was Napoleon.” The ego on this man. But is he right, in y’all’s opinion? Update: Buffalo Wild Wings Employees Fired Over Rancidly Racist Seating Incident

Buffalo Wild Wings Employees Fired Two employees who participated in the racist moving of black patrons at a Buffalo Wild Wings have been fired. As previously reported a Naperville, Illinois Buffalo Wild Wings made national headlines after a group of patrons decided to leave after being asked to move tables because a regular customer “didn’t want blacks sitting nearby.” During the rancidly racist incident the host at the restaurant who was described as a young black man — asked, “What race are you?” to the group before noting that one of the restaurant’s regular customers seated nearby “doesn’t want black people sitting near him.” When the party refused to move to accommodate the bigoted chicken wing chomper, a phony “reservation” excuse was used by a manager to try to prompt the party to switch seats. That incident has left those two employees without jobs. The Naperville Sun reports that Buffalo Wild Wings spokesperson Clarie Kudlata in an email late Sunday said the company conducted a thorough, internal investigation and “terminated the employees involved.” She said a service manager and shift manager were fired. “Buffalo Wild Wings values an inclusive environment and has zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind,” Kudlata said. Reportedly several employees quit as well in connection with the incident. You never win when you play dirty, BWW better hope the family doesn’t decide to sue for discrimination.

The former NFL quarterback decided to spend his 32nd birthday feeding the homeless in Oakland, California. According to reports from TMZ, Kaepernick brought out a food truck for those living in Tent City, a large homeless encampment in Oakland. While there, he reportedly paid for every person there who wanted a meal. From the photos of the truck, it looks like some Al Pastor was on the menu. Unsurprisingly, this isn’t the first time Colin Kaepernick has used his birthday to give back to the community. In 2016, he hosted his first Know Your Rights Camp event, where he brought dozens of kids together to teach them about their rights and to learn about social injustice. Source: Bambu Productions / Getty Anti-Vax Mom Hands Out Chickenpox Lollipops For Halloween A mother who is a strong advocate for anti-vaccination took to social media this week to let everyone know about her decision to give out tainted lollipops this Halloween . The Australian woman–who identifies herself online as Sarah Walker RN–posted in the private Facebook group “Stop Mandatory Vaccination,” saying that her son contracted chickenpox and she planned to “help” other children by spreading the virus through candy. “So my beautiful son [redacted] has the chickenpox at the moment and we’ve both decided to help others with natural immunity this Halloween!” she wrote. “We have the packaging open and closing down pat and can’t wait to help others in our community.” What….the f***? Walker’s message ended up making it out of the anti-vax community and a screenshot and shared on Light for Riley , a page dedicated to protecting “babies & families from vaccine-preventable diseases” in honor of Riley Hughes, a baby boy who died from whooping cough. Though the mother claims to be a registered nurse at the “Royal Children’s Hospital, Brisbane” on her Facebook page, Queensland Health confirmed that she was never employed at any of its medical facilities. After getting negative responses to her chickenpox plan, Walker took to Facebook once again to double down on her plan, despite backlash online. “Dear internet trolls,” she wrote. “You think you’re right by judging me and my trying to report me and get me fired. I don’t care. The health and wellbeing of my baby is far more valuable than any job…You say I’m vile and gross like I have done something that hundreds of thousands of parents haven’t already done. How many times do you see children dropped off to day care or school when they’re clearly sick and contagious? Exactly!” She continued, “I’m offering life long immunity for the price of a couple of blisters and a few days off school.” Luckily, whether or not Walker actually went ahead with her weird scheme, Queensland Health told News.com.au that the risk of chickenpox transmission from such lollipops would be extremely low, since the virus does not survive long on surfaces. But, if she were to be found guilty of food tampering, or making false claims to do so, she could be facing serious prison time.
