The Jackson family saga is growing more sad, disturbing and confounding by the day. Here’s the latest: In the wake of Katherine Jackson losing contact with her grandkids – Paris, Prince and Blanket – TJ Jackson, the son of Michael’s brother Tito, is pushing to become the children’s temporary legal guardian. TMZ reports his attorney is actively drawing up the paperwork now. Katherine has been serving as the trio’s guardian since Michael Jackson passed away, but sources close to the family believe she’s being held against her will by MJ’s siblings in Arizona. She has not seen her grandchildren in nine days. Insiders tell TMZ that all three children are in favor of TJ taking over guardian duties. He’s reportedly very close to his niece and nephews. “I know it’s completely unfair for them to do this to you and your brothers. We will keep trying. I love you,” TJ Tweeted to Paris last night. Tension continues to rise within the Jackson clan because Michael only left money to his foundation and his children in his will. Moreover, there have been accusations that Katherine is being treated unfairly by the will’s executors. Police were called to the family home in California yesterday over some kind of domestic dispute. No arrests were made, but photos later surfaced of Janet and Jermaine Jackson in a heated discussion. Finally, in case this wasn’t all strange enough, there’s this: TJ Jackson went to the prom with Kim Kardashian .

Kellie Picker covers the latest issue of Maxim . But the former American Idol contestant has goals in mind that include a lot more than merely showing skin: she’s espousing the virtues of the USO and hoping others get involved in assisting our military. “I come from a military family,” says Pickler, who has traveled abroad with the USO five times. “My grandfather is a retired Marine, and I’ve always had a great deal of respect for anyone who serves our country. It really does take someone special to sacrifice everything. I don’t mean just their lives, either. There are men who are sacrificing the chance to hold their newborn baby!” Pickler adds that she hates singing the National Anthem, which may seem like an odd stance for someone with her belief system, but her rationale is spot-on. “I love the anthem if someone else is singing it, but doing it myself gives me anxiety! I feel like people are waiting for you to mess up! I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again, I’m sure, but I’d rather show my patriotism by going to Afghanistan.” Amen. William Balfour will never be a free man again. A judge in Chicago made sure of that today. The 31-year old who was found guilty in May of killing Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences today, appearing inside a courtroom and maintaining his innocence until the end. Hudson was also present at the sentencing. During the hearing, a judge looked directly at Balfour and told him: “Your soul is as barren as dark space.” Balfour was convicted of triple murder, home innovation and residential burglary after he went into a jealous rage in 2008 because he believed his ex-girlfriend has received a present from another man.

Teen Mom 2 wreck Jenelle Evans appeared in a North Carolina courtroom this morning and admitted that she tested positive in a drug test in July. The 21-year-old, who has been in and out of trouble with the law, told a judge that she did indeed fail the drug test, as reported, back on July 15. She has been tested every week since then, however, and hasn’t had another positive test … which is actually a fairly impressive feat for Jenelle. “Jenelle is doing really well,” her lawyer Dustin Sullivan said after today’s hearing . “She completed her parenting class and her anger management class.” She does not have custody of her young son Jace back yet, but when she’s not beating the crap out of other girls , she spends time with the tyke daily. After a wildly successful stint in a California rehab center, Jenelle tested positive for THC (found in marijuana) and she will remain on probation until April. Her trials and tribulations can be seen on MTV starting next Tuesday when the show that made her a star returns. Watch the Teen Mom Season 2 trailer !
