WATCH: Don’t Judge ‘The Place Beyond The Pines’ By These Three Videos

Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond The Pines remains among my favorite unreleased movies since I saw it at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, it’s testament to the movie’s satisfying complexity that these three video clips don’t really convey the emotional wallop that the film packs. Here’s the other thing: I can’t really set these videos up properly without some major spoilers, so I would urge you not to write off the movie if these three excerpts don’t exactly move you. Suffice it to say, the first two clips feature appear, in chronological order in the first third of the movie, where motorcycle stunt driver Luke ( Ryan Gosling ) learns that he fathered a child by Romina (Eva Mendes) and decides that he doesn’t want to be the deadbeat dad that he had as a kid.  Alas, his decision to be a responsible parent involves robbing banks to support his kid, which is not exactly Brady Bunch territory, but Cianfrance uses Luke’s storyline to set up a movie that has some very smart things to say about morality and legacy. Luke and Romina’s story is intertwined with the narrative arc of police officer Avery Cross, played by Bradley Cooper. In the third and final clip, he attempts to inform his superior of corruption in the department and doesn’t exactly meet with a willing audience. The movie only gets more interesting and gripping from there. The Place Beyond The Pines opens on March 29. Michael J. Fox and Taylor Swift: All Good!

Hollywood’s most random feud has come to an end. A few days after telling Vulture he’d rather his son never date Taylor Swift – before sarcastically praising the singer’s method of writing hit songs about ex-boyfriends – Michael J. Fox has reached out to the artist. “Hey everybody, Michael J. Fox got in touch with me today and we are good,” Swift Tweeted last night. “Thank you for having my back.” That was all Taylor had to say on the subject, which is just the latest setback in what has been a rough start for her in 2013. Already in the new year, Swift has been referred to as too prude for Harry Styles , and possibly gotten rejected by Bradley Cooper . But, hey, it can only get better from here!

Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult Break Up!

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult broke up, according to Us Weekly . The couple mutually ended their two-year relationship very recently. The Hunger Games actress, 22, and Skins actor, 23, met on the set of X-Men: First Class in 2010; they played one another’s love interests in the film. Lawrence, who was recently named Most Desirable Woman of 2012 , hasn’t given any indication the relationship was heading south in recent interviews. “He is honestly my best friend, and hopefully I’m his best friend, too,” the Silver Linings Playbook star told Elle magazine in its December cover story. “He’s my favorite person to be around and makes me laugh harder than anybody.” Fortunately for Jen, she’ll have ample distractions in the next few months as she tries to move on from the breakup – it’s awards season in Hollywood. She’s among the 2013 Oscar nominees , and may even win one for her acclaimed performance alongside Bradley Cooper in the aforementioned film. Also, have you seen Jennifer Lawrence bikini photos lately? She shouldn’t have too hard a time generating interest once she decides to date again. Sorry Nick.

Jenny McCarthy’s New Show: Bringing Sexy Back to Late Night?

Jenny McCarthy is hoping to bring a sexy twist to late night. Not Jenny McCarthy bikini photos sexy … but sexy enough. The Jenny McCarthy Show, which premieres February 8 on VH1, marks the 40-year-old’s first foray into the genre – one she hopes allows her to stand out. Shouldn’t be too hard – whether it’s any good is the question. “Not that Jay Leno is not sexy, but l feel like the template that I talked about is Playboy After Dark,” she said. “I love that Hugh Hefner did [this kind of thing].” “[It’s a] sexy, after hours party, but he also had great conversations with guests. That was really my goal and that’s our goal now as we do rehearsals.” “[We’re trying to] incorporate that sexiness with having great conversations with celebrities.” Jenny has already tried a few segments in test runs, including some interesting interviews. “I wanted to kind of put my own stamp on how I do celebrity interviews, so I’ve been doing a segment right now called ‘Groundbreaking Interviews.'” “I take the celebrity and we literally lay on the ground and we look up and we have the camera overhead and I interview them in a casual conversation,” she said. “And I’ve found by doing this, which I’ve tested – on Bradley Cooper – it works quite well.” “There’s just something that [happens where] the celebrity kind of lets go and has a little bit more of a conversational tone. It’s not so scripted.” As fans of Jenny know, she was in development for a daytime talk show, but she realized a good girl Jenny during business hours wasn’t the most authentic Jenny. “I am definitely more late night than daytime right now, at this point in my life,” she said. “I’m really excited that VH1 told me that they would allow me to be myself and let me continue kind of being that brand of being outrageous [and] outspoken, but fun.” “It felt at home, that’s why we’re gonna come and do late night.” Will you watch J-Mac’s late night TV effort?
