Eric Garner’s Mother Gwen Says She Can’t Forgive Cops After Son’s Death

New Series “Two Sides” Examines The Lives & Legacies Of Those Who Died In Police Custody & Sparked Social Change The mother of Eric Garner said she still wrestles with forgiving the police officers who killed her son three years ago. “I pray every night to forgive,” Gwen Carr said of her son Eric Garner’s death. “Because you have to forgive for yourself. But when someone takes your child away, it’s so hard. I pray to God every night to forgive me because I haven’t forgiven them.” Garner died in the midst of an arrest in 2014, and his final words, “I can’t breathe,” ignited protests around the world. Carr said the lack of accountability in the death of Garner, a married father, makes it even worse. “Maybe in time when justice comes,” she said, “I will have a better sense of forgiveness in my heart. Because there has been no justice.” Garner’s life, death and the movement it sparked is one of the subjects of “Two Sides,” a new docu-series from TV One that examines four cases – Eric Garner, John Crawford, Sandra Bland and Ezell Ford – that became symbols in the social justice fight. Instead of reenactments, the series uses actual footage from the incidents and goes in-depth with the people who were involved. Oscar winner Viola Davis is one of the series’ executive producers, and her producing partner Lemuel Plummer said his goal for “Two Sides” was to “bridge the gap between black and blue.” “Two Sides” courtesy of TV One “We’re not taking a biased approach,” Plummer said, “We’re hearing from all sides. We want the audience walking away understanding why this is happening, and why police officers end up making these decisions.” Shante Needham, the sister of Sandra Bland, agreed with Carr, and said every day has been a struggle since losing her sibling, especially when she sees more cases of people dying at the hands of police officers. “Well of course, we have to forgive if we say we are children of God,” Needham said. “But it’s the act of forgetting. I still ask three years later, ‘Why?’ Why did they do this to my sister?” Needham added that she hoped viewers would see the show as a call to action. “When you see something, speak up,” she said. “Stop letting things go under the rug…so our kids and grandkids don’t have to come up in the manner we have.” “Two Sides” will air Jan. 22 on TV One. Still Canceled: Chrisette Michele Says She’s Still Selling Out Shows After Trump Fiasco

Chrisette Michele Says She’s Still Selling Out Shows Back in January, it was revealed that R&B singer Chrisette Michele would be singing at Donald Trump’s inauguration . The songstress was dragged back to the darkest layers of hell for the $250,000 decision and tentatively canceled by all of Black Twitter . Chrisette spoke to everyone and their mama about her inauguration performance and claimed she only did it to “help” the black community bridge the gap to the White House. Despite the fact that the singer NEVER even got to meet Chump-in-Charge Trump, she continued on her mission to not be seen as a sellout. The songstress now says she is still selling out shows even though she had been canceled : She’s still at it, folks: Hit the flip for more… IG

Amazon Responds to Anti-Muslim Rhetoric With Perfect Holiday Commercial

When one thinks of efforts to bridge the gap between people of different faiths and help our nation heal during times of widening divisions, Amazon probably isn't the first organization to come to mind. Nevertheless, the online retail giant has debuted a new holiday commercial that seems to be a direct response to the growing problem of Islamophobia in the Western World. Set in England, the ad features an Episcopal priest and a Muslim cleric enjoying tea and griping about shared ailments. Eventually they part company and use Amazon's Prime service to send one another presents. Each of them gets a knee brace in the mail (presumably with free shipping) and reflects fondly on their friendship as he slips on. The message is clear: Whether you're a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist or atheist – getting old sucks. We kid. As the priest and the cleric both kneel (now with less pain), it's clear that the ad intends to remind us that we're all more alike than we are different. Not to get all political in our description of a warm-and-fuzzy Amazon ad, but it's an important message during a time when the media has been forced to frequently use the phrase ” Muslin ban ” in its coverage of the guy who will soon be president. Interestingly, some advertising industry experts believe this to be the first commercial featuring a Muslim cleric ever to be broadcast on mainstream American television. “I can’t think of one. There are plenty of religious figures in televisions, especially sitcoms and police procedurals. But no ads with imams,” says Tobe Berkovitz, advertiser professor at Boston University. Toss out that giblet if the conversation gets too political during tomorrow's feast.

Alba’s Hard Mom Nips of the Day

I saw these Jessica Alba pictures yesterday and thought nothing of them. I thought “hard nipples on a mom”…I see that shit everyday. I just assume it is from all the lecherous parasites that ravaged their vaginas chewing on their goddamn nipples over the course of 4 years that just makes them more engorged and inflamed and scarred up and numb…erotic…. But there was a time I used to think hard nipples were everything – because they were everything – it was an era where girls didn’t show much skin and t-shirt in gym class thanks to cheap cotton bras and bouncing around in the fall weather would give the 15 year old me something to cum to… So I guess what I am saying this magical Friday is that hard nipples are timeless, they bridge the gap of generations, they apply to young and old, sick and healthy, dead or alive…well maybe not dead, I don’t necrophilia, even one could argue the birth of a woman’s first child is her death…but some go getters, like Alba, power through. Miley Cyrus Hires Psychic to Contact Dead Dog

Miley Cyrus’s dog Floyd passed away back in April, leading the singer into a deep depression that she shared with fans online.  We later found out that Miley’s dog had been killed by coyotes , prompting some to criticize Miley as an unfit pet owner. But whether or not Floyd’s death was preventable, Miley has clearly been feeling the loss in a big way. In fact, the pain has gotten so bad that Miley has finally done what any rich, grieving crazy person would do: she hired a psychic to communicate with her departed pooch. Miley recently reached out to animal medium Melissa Bacelar who helped bridge the gap between dead dog and living twerk specialist. “I connect with the dog telepathically,” says Bacelar of the services she offers. “Some will give actual words, but most give me images and feelings which I pass on to the owner.” “It was particularly hard as [Miley] wasn’t there when Floyd died, so there would have been a huge amount of guilt.” Sounds legit. Who knew dogs learn how to talk after they die? Learn something new every day. Believe it or not, attempting reach Floyd in canine heaven is not the strangest way Miley has tried to connect with her beloved pet since his death. Earlier this month, Miley got a tattoo honoring Floyd and somehow got some of her friends to do the same. Guess that’s one way to make sure his memory lives on. Miley Cyrus’ Weirdest Instagram Photos 1. Miley Cyrus in a Wig Miley Cyrus is rocking a rainbow wig for this Instagram photo. It’s definitely a different look for the artist.

Pauly D Confesses He’s ‘Addicted To The Cameras’

DJ talks to MTV’s Sway Calloway in YRB magazine about the upsides of being in the spotlight. By John Mitchell Pauly D on the cover of YRB magazine Photo: YRB Magazine Pauly D is blazing his own trail independent of “The Jersey Shore.” The reality TV star is busily working the DJ circuit and hopes to break out on his own as a recording artist with his in-the-works debut album for 50 Cent’s G-Note Records. But he tells YRB magazine that, for now, he’s completely comfortable having cameras document his attempts to change the course of his career on his new show “The Pauly D Project.” “I’m addicted to the cameras now. It’s almost as if I expect them to be outside now,” Pauly D tells MTV’s own Sway Calloway in the magazine’s latest issue. “There are times you wish you had a certain amount of anonymity, but in the end, the good outweighs the bad. Believe me when I say that.” The “good” he refers to includes the fame “Jersey Shore” has brought him and the way he’s been able to parlay it into a successful career beyond the show. His fame, mixed with his skills as a DJ, helped him land an opening spot on Britney Spears’ successful “Femme Fatale” arena tour, which had the DJ spinning for audiences numbering in the thousands each night. Spears is set to appear on the “Pauly D Project” and Pauly D tells Sway he has approached the pop star about appearing on his album. “Of course I did,” he says. “She liked the idea of that, and we’re actually in talks about that now, so hopefully it works out.” Pauly knows some will always view his DJ career as little more than a vanity side project, but says the haters actually motivate him to work harder to prove himself. “There have been plenty of DJs that didn’t take me serious because of the ‘Jersey Shore’ show, but once they came out to one of my sets, their opinions changed,” he tells YRB. “I have had some of the haters come up to me after my set and tell me, ‘Dude you are really legit, you killed that set.’ I love when I can change people’s perceptions of me.” Right now he’s focusing on popular hits to get his point across. Asked by Sway about his go-to songs when he’s spinning, he name-checked some Top 40 staples. “Right now anything by LMFAO is a banger. Rihanna is super hot, Pitbull is tearing it up, and without a doubt, Chris Brown is doing the damn thing right now.” In fact, one of Pauly’s first mainstream remixes was of Brown’s “Turn Up the Music.” He used the opportunity to prove his skills as a producer. “I had just signed the record deal, and I needed to show people that I can produce,” Pauly says. “I took a banging song that I already knew was going to be a hit, and I gave it more kick for in the club. I produced a beat for it to get the fists pumping, and it’s a smash now.” He sees his style as a combination of two world-famous DJs, David Guetta and DJ Khaled. “I gotta say I’m a mixture of the two. I love dance music just as much as I’m all about hip-hop,” he says. “They actually call me ‘the Bridge’ because I bridge the gap between house and hip-hop. I make the house music person, who may not normally vibe to hip-hop, appreciate the music and vice versa.” Whether he’ll be able to bridge the gap between his current reality celebrity and a future as a mainstream DJ, producer and singer remains to be seen, but he’s clearly off to a good start.
