Source: Splash News / Splash News Disney To Have Full Control Of Hulu By 2024 Disney owns your childhood. Like…they don’t, but if you partake in the following… Disney movies Marvel movies ESPN Star Wars movies ABC shows Disney World Then Disney might be getting all of you and your kid’s coins. Soon, if you’re team “Hulu and chill,” they will be getting you $5.99+ a month as well. According to the New York Daily News , Disney announced on Tuesday that they’ll be taking full control of Hulu, which will fully be in effect by 2024. “Hulu represents the best of television, with its incredible array of award-winning original content, rich library of popular series and movies, and live TV offerings,” Bob Iger , the chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, said in a statement. “We are now able to completely integrate Hulu into our direct-to-consumer business and leverage the full power of The Walt Disney Company’s brands and creative engines to make the service even more compelling and a greater value for consumers.” Disney was already a majority stakeholder in Hulu after taking control of most of Fox’s assets in March 2019 and after buying WarnerMedia’s interests in the streaming service last month. Disney will now have control over not one, not two, but three streaming services, including ESPN+ and Disney+ where Disney movies, Marvel movies and Star Wars movies will stream in November 2019. Luckily, Iger said customers will be able to bundle all these streaming services for one subscription fee. There’s no word on the pricing yet. Disney hasn’t clarified how Disney+ and Hulu’s programming will differ, but Disney+ is expected to be the more family-friendly option while Hulu could possibly continue its more general/adult programing such as The Handmaid’s Tale. Under the agreement, Hulu will keep NBCUniversal content (which is owned by Comcast) on their streaming service until “late 2024,” at which point Disney can mandate the sale of Comcast’s final 33% stake in Hulu. Meanwhile, according to Vox , NBCUniversal is supposed to be setting up their own streaming service in 2020, which could gradually have them moving all their content from Hulu to their own service. So in other words, in a few years, you might have to pay for even more streaming services than you’re already paying for, depending on what content you watch. So get your Netflix and chill, HBO and chill, Hulu and chill, and NBCUniversal and chill plans ready. The future is coming. Are you here for it or nah?

T he NAACP has named Jay-Z as its coveted President’s Award winner, a prize that recognizes the honoree’s distinguished record in public service. The rapper-turned “businessman,” will be honored during the 50th NAACP Image Awards , which will be broadcast live on TV One from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles Saturday night. Previous recipients of the President’s Award include Muhammad Ali , Jesse Jackson and Colin Powell . “The President’s Award is an honor we carefully bestow upon an individual, maintaining its significance and commitment to recognizing excellence in service that directly affects our community,” NAACP’s President Derrick Johnson said in a statement Thursday. Power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z helped raise $6 million for the non-profit City Of Hope. https://t.co/TqTVKQOcpm pic.twitter.com/q5nOj2pu6n — NewsOne (@newsone) October 20, 2018 Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter , is well known as an entrepreneur, Hip-Hop icon and music industry giant, but the 22-time Grammy Awards winner hasn’t received that same type of accolades for his activism. For example, Roc Nation , the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, has become a major civil right player . One of its latest victories involved helping to clear 11-year-old Jabari Talbot , who was arrested in February after he refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance in his 6th-grade classroom in Florida. That was at least the third time this year alone that Roc Nation had stepped in to offer legal assistance, adding to an impressive list of civil rights accomplishments that included helping to free rapper 21 Savage from immigration detention. Jay-Z was also instrumental in the release of Meek Mill from prison in 2018. He had spent nearly five months incarcerated after a controversial sentence for probation violation. “Shawn Carter has been committed to shedding light on the issues that plague the Black community including systematic racism and unjust treatment under the law, utilizing his global platform to create everlasting change. There is no better time than now, as we celebrate our 50th year, to honor him with this award,” said the NAACP’s president. The announcement about Jay-Z came amid controversy over the Image Awards nomination of Jussie Smollett . The actor was nominated for the most outstanding supporting actor in a drama series for his role as Jamal Lyons on the primetime TV show “ Empire. ” California’s Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters will also be honored this year with the NAACP Chairman’s Award and radio legend Tom Joyner will receive the Vanguard Award. Other award recipients will be revealed during the TV One’s live broadcast, which will be hosted by “ Black-ish ” star Anthony Anderson . Source: JRP/WENN / WENN “Plug Walk” Rapper Accused Of Being Rent Dodger On LA Manse Rich The Kid has been having a hell of a time these last few months. Just this week, the rapper was targeted in an armed robbery at an LA recording studio. And now, the rapper has landed in legal hot water over accusations that he owes more than $30,000 in back rent on the palatial Hollywood Hills pad where he and pregnant gal pal Tori Brixx have been living. Landlord Haikuhe Chichyan sued Rich The Kid last month for breach of contract last month after the rapper allegedly stopped paying the $22,500 a month rent for his Hollywood mansion. Lawyers for Chichyan – the chairman of a trust that owns the mansion – accused Rich of skipping out on the rent beginning in December 2018 even though he signed a half year-long lease promising to pay, according to court papers obtained by BOSSIP. In total, the landlord said that Rich, whose real name is Dimitri Roger, owes $32,376, which includes a $2,500 late fee and $7,376 in utilities. The home in question was built for a king: the 5,600 square foot pad boasts five bedrooms, six baths, views of downtown Hollywood and the Hollywood sign. The mansion’s over the top amenities include a saltwater pool, sauna, 20 foot high ceilings and a spa. The rapper has frequently posted pictures of himself on social media smoking by the pool or hanging out in one of his cars in the driveway. It was not clear if Rich was still living in the home. It was listed as available to rent online for $24,900 a month or $2,700 a night. A lawyer for the landlord didn’t respond to a request for comment. We also reached out to Rich The Kid for comment. The landlord’s case isn’t the only legal cases that that Rich The Kid is facing. In addition to a nasty divorce from his wife, Antionette, we exclusively revealed that a woman named Candis Watts sued him over the paternity of her five-year-old daughter. Rich has not yet responded to that case.
