Put ‘Em To Work: R. Kelly’s Girlfriends Reportedly Raising Funds To Spring For Super Lawyer

Source: Nuccio DiNuzzo / Getty The girlfriends of R. Kelly are hoping to help out their jailed boo by reportedly hoping to secure funds to hire the services of a powerful lawyer. Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage are working some angles in the industry to secure book deals and other avenues so that Kelly can hire the services of the attorney that got Michael Jackson off from facing child molestation charges. TMZ reports : Sources close to Kelly’s girlfriends/alleged sex slaves tell TMZ … they’re joining forces to help Kelly scrounge up the funds to hire the attorney who got Michael Jackson acquitted in his child molestation trial — Tom Mesereau. We’re told the ladies have a couple potential projects in the works that could land them a big payday — including a book deal — and their plan is to put that money toward the Mesereau fund … along with Kelly’s general defense fund. Our sources say Joycelyn and Azriel have just hired reps who are reaching out to media outlets to score some paid interviews. None are scheduled yet … but we’re told there’s some interest. The outlet adds that the goals of Clary and Savage could be a longshot as they’re having some difficulty in acquiring a talent manager that could get them in some rooms to pitch their ideas. Mesereau doesn’t come cheap so this could be a long uphill climb. — Photo: Getty

Black-Owned Real Estate Development Company Fights Gentrification In Atlanta

The rest is here:

A Black-owned real estate development firm is on a mission to address gentrification within the city of Atlanta. According to Black Enterprise , a division of the real estate company H.J. Russell & Co., dubbed Russell New Urban Development LLC, is working towards providing affordable housing for Atlanta residents impacted by the wrath of the city’s changing landscape. Black-Owned Construction Firm Revitalizes Housing Units in Atlanta to Combat Gentrification https://t.co/Xf8XPQpurw — Black Enterprise (@blackenterprise) August 27, 2019 The company completed a residential project that features 210 affordable units for families, senior citizens, and those who have disabilities. The properties are located in Old Fourth Ward and Reynoldstown. All of the units are subsidized, and residents will have to pay 30 percent of their annual income for rent. Organizers of the $22.3 million project say that they are dedicated to bridging the housing affordability gap for low-income families and are on a mission to provide quality housing for Atlantans impacted by gentrification. “Our investment to enhance affordable housing underscores our dedication to building communities, and at the same time, enhancing the living environments of some of the city’s most vulnerable residents who also deserve quality housing in the heart of Atlanta,” President of H.J. Russell & Co. H. Jerome Russell , said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “With the completion of these renovations, along with the stipulations on these projects, we have effectively preserved a significant amount of affordable housing for seniors and families in the heart of Atlanta for the next 20 years.” There has been a push to create more affordable housing options in major cities. In August, Wells Fargo announced that it would invest $1 billion over the next five years for the creation of affordable housing. “We will address three key issues in underserved communities that have been plagued by the lack of affordable housing – housing affordability, financial health and small business growth,” Candy Moore , Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo’s Community Relations and Southeast Community Development, told The Atlanta Voice . “We feel we should be doing even more to address the systematic changes in affordable housing and uncover new ways to increase the availability and sustainability of affordable housing.” SEE ALSO: Rapper Common To Invest In Transformation Of Underdeveloped South Side Chicago Property Real Estate Mogul Don Peebles To Launch $500M Fund For Underrepresented Developers [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3885832″ overlay=”true”]

‘LHHHS6’ Recap: Lyrica Is Heartbroken But Her Girls Got Her Back

Excerpt from:

Source: Lucianna Faraone Coccia / Getty Tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood picks up from Apryl and Moniece’s face-off [*cough* over Fizz]. Moniece says she doesn’t want Fizz, but it seems like she’s jealous of Fizz and Apryl’s relationship, or whatever it is they’re doing. In fairness, Moniece is also upset because Apryl and Fizz have been making moves with her son Cam, like going on a family trip to Chicago, without telling her. That’s actually valid. Apryl still denies that she and Fizz are a thing. Basically, we’re still in the lying phase. But anyway, they manage to get past the hostility and apologize to each other for their respective transgressions. This is clearly not over. But for now, they make amends and even decide to support each other when it comes to their music.  Apple Watts is back. She’s the resident stripper-tryna-be-a-rapper. Every Love and Hip-Hop city has to have at least one. Anyway, she’s still working on her music but she isn’t affiliated with the manager she had last year, and definitely not that man who pretended to be her father. Now she’s seeking guidance from Yoyo, who has taken on the role of rap mentor April’s mentor through the literal Yoyo School of Hip-Hop.  Next, we find a heartbroken Lyrica is kicking it with Princess and her best friend, Sia. This is the aftermath of Jason Lee leaking that info about A1 cheating with Summer Bunni while Lyrica was pregnant. Lyrica is in tears as she laments how hurt she was. Princess chimes in and says she caught Ray J “headed in that direction” when she was pregnant so she empathizes. Lyrica has A1’s phone number blocked at the moment but he has a show coming up and Sia suggests they run up on him. That’s not this episode, but it’s coming.  Now we’re back at the Yoyo School of Hip-Hop. Yoyo thought she was going to connect Apple Watts and Summer Bunni, not knowing what was about to happen. Basically, Apple Watts was down with meeting Summer at first, but then she recognized who Summer was. Apple and Lyrica are cool, so Apple immediately calls her out and goes into fight mode. They go back and forth for a second, but you know security got this. Apple gets removed but she’s outside yelling about how she wants to deliver Compton Fists of Fury to Summer Bunni.  Meanwhile, Summer is standing with Yoyo, going back and forth between crying and yelling back at Apple. Yoyo is telling Summer to pull it together because she’s going to have to deal with a lot worse as her career progresses. Blacc Chyna is in the studio with Brittany and they’re planning her music. The real point of this scene is for Blacc Chyna to encourage Brittany B to work on her relationship with her mother since they both have toxic moms in common. Brittany isn’t too sure about that though because she’s still dealing with the trauma from her mother’s crackhead-ish behavior over the years. But we’ll get back to this next episode.  Let’s fast forward a bit. Now we’re at a party or showcase, or something. We find Misster Ray with Summer Bunni and Yoyo. We’re not sure if Apple is coming, but she probably is, because, Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood , but Yoyo mentions that Summer Bunni needs to be ready in case Apple shows up. Summer starts getting all teary-eyed again talking about how what happened the other day with Apple wasn’t called for and she’s tired of people putting stuff in #TheBlogs about her and calling her a homewrecker when they don’t really know her, yatta yatta. Yoyo tells her to snap out of it, once again, then Ray J and Princess walk in. You already know that Princess ain’t feeling Summer on behalf of Lyrica. And then…Lyrica waltzing in with Apple. That’s how the episode ends tonight. But it’s going down next week because Lyrica and Summer Bunni are going to have a war of words.  RELATED POSTS ‘LHHHS6’ Recap: Apryl Has A Love Jones For Fizzle Pop ‘LHHHS5’ Reunion Recap: Moniece And Princess Love Do The Unthinkable

The center will provide resources for Black men who are educators within Maryland’s school system. There will be forums, trips, and mentoring programs for participants. For its inaugural year, the center seeks to recruit up to 50 locally-based students to join the program. The center’s leadership team aims to engage teachers who will focus on STEM education. The initiative is being led by associate professor  Julius Davis . “It feels great to know that the University System of Maryland thought that it was worth the investment to create a center for research and mentoring of Black male students and teachers at a historically Black university,” Dr. Davis said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I’m excited to start working with the young men. I do research, but I really want to impact what’s going on in the community, where the work matters most. I hope that it will create a national reputation for Bowie State to be a center for excellence for looking at black male students and black male teachers.” News about the creation of the center comes at a time where teachers of color are underrepresented. According to Teach for America , only 2 percent of teachers in American public schools are Black men. President Obama Responds To Recent Mass Shootings: “Reject Language From Leaders That Normalizes Racist Sentiments”

Source: NICHOLAS KAMM / Getty Former President Barack Obama released a personal statement on Monday condemning “language coming out of the mouths of any of our leaders” that “normalizes racist sentiments.” Although the statement did not directly name  Donald Trump , the statement comes on the heels of two mass shootings in the country on Saturday, one of which carried out by a white supremacist suspect. “We should soundly reject language coming out of the mouths of any of our leaders that feeds a climate of fear and hatred or normalizes racist sentiments; leaders who demonize those who don’t look like us, or suggest that other people, including immigrants, threaten our way of life, or refer to other people as sub-human, or imply that America belongs to just one certain type of people,” Obama wrote. He added, “It’s time for the overwhelming majority of Americans of goodwill, of every race and faith and political party, to say as much — clearly and unequivocally.” You can read Obama’s full statement below. pic.twitter.com/nNOVtQ50O4 — Barack Obama (@BarackObama) August 5, 2019 RELATED:  El Paso Shooter Identified Online As Trump Supporter Who Didn’t Like ‘Race Mixing’ RELATED:  Multiple Fatalities Reported Following Mass Shooting In El Paso, Texas
