Diddy Doesn’t Get ‘Caught Up’ In Forbes Hip-Hop List

‘People think that I have that money actually sitting at home in the basement,’ Diddy tells MTV News of topping ‘wealthiest in hip-hop’ list. By D.L. Chandler Diddy Dirty-Money Photo: MTV News Everything Diddy touches turns to gold — or millions, in this case. The mogul with the Midas touch has topped yet another list — but it isn’t due to record sales for his new group Diddy-Dirty Money. Sean Combs tops Forbes ‘ list of the wealthiest hip-hop entertainers , with his $475 million besting Roc Nation mogul Jay-Z by a mere $25 million. Diddy spoke with MTV News about his inclusion on the list, flanked by his Dirty Money beauties, Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper. “To be honest, on that list, I was on the cover of Forbes back in ’98,” Diddy said. “I been on that list. I don’t really get caught up into the list. I think people think that I have that money actually sitting at home in the basement.” The figure, according to Forbes, includes current holdings and past earnings from public financial documents. Diddy confirmed that by humbly stating that, in order to have that manner of cash on hand, he would need to sell off all his companies and assets, something he takes great pride in. “It’s really like if I sold all my companies, and I take pride in [building] something as a black man that’s worth that much,” Diddy said, but he added a warning with a laugh: “To everyone calling me for a loan today, I do not have that money today!” Diddy and Jay are definitely not at war over the top spot on Forbes ‘ list. In fact, Diddy hopes people are motivated by their success. “It helps inspire people and it shows the power of hip hop,” Diddy said. Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Birdman round out the top five. Foo Fighters Fans Are ‘People Who Dig Rock Music,’ Dave Grohl Says

‘There’s not one particular demographic,’ he tells MTV News during their ‘MTV First’ premiere of ‘Rope.’ By Vaughn Schoonmaker, with reporting by James Montgomery Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Photo: MTV News The Foo Fighters came to one lucky fan’s house Thursday for “MTV First,” where they premiered their “Rope” video and answered questions submitted on Twitter and in person. When MTV News’ James Montgomery asked the band about their fanbase, lead singer Dave Grohl described the diversity of those who fill up stadiums when the band is on tour. “There’s not one particular demographic. It’s just people who dig rock music,” Dave noted. “When we play gigs, it’s a trip to stand there and look at the audience, because there’ll be kids, like 5- or 6-year-old kids, and then there’ll be like full-on mustache dads. And then there’ll be like crazy MILF drunk mamas.” The Foo Fighters certainly treasure their fans, both new and vintage. “We still get new fans and then we still have some that saw Nirvana. So to me it’s really awesome, because we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for our fans.” As far as what the average Foo Fighters fan may be like, there’s certainly a lack of paparazzi stampedes and screaming teenagers. “I think we have a cool relationship with [our fans],” Dave smiled. “Like when people see us, they don’t go, ‘Oh my God! It’s the Foos!’ They’ll just be like, ‘Hey, Dave, what’s up?’ and I’m like, ‘Do I know that guy?’ So I never say, ‘It’s nice to meet you.’ I always say, ‘It’s nice to see you.’ ” Dave also spoke of his recent discovery of a vast and enthusiastic population of Foos fans in South America, when he joined Twitter. “One of the first things I noticed when I first tweeted is that like 98 percent of the people on Twitter live in Argentina and Brazil,” Dave said. “I [tweeted] a picture of the tape machines, and 50 percent of the responses were like, ‘Come to Argentina!’ ‘Come to Brazil!’ ‘Come to Chile!’ ” The South American fans have already made quite an impression on the Foo Fighters. As Dave recalled, “We had this one knob on the mixing deck that we made the ‘grunge’ knob, so we turned it up to 11 and took a picture of it, and someone from Argentina wrote, ‘Never too grungy!’ And so that became this catchphrase that we use.” Do you count yourself among the Foo Fighters’ eclectic fanbase? Massive 8.9-Magnitude Quake Hits Japan 7th Largest In History

The epicenter was 373 kilometers (231 miles) away from the capital, Tokyo, the United States Geological Survey said. But residents there felt the tremors. The quake rattled buildings and toppled cars off bridges and into waters underneath. Waves of debris flowed like lava across farmland, pushing boats, houses and trailers toward highways. In Tokyo, crowds gathered in the streets and tried to reach relatives via cell phone. Scenes inside office buildings showed papers strewn all over the floor and people clinging onto seats and desks. Such a large earthquake at such a shallow depth creates a lot of energy, said Shenza Chen of the U.S. Geological Survey. It caused a power outage in about 4 million homes in Tokyo and surrounding areas. A tsunami in the Pacific was moving closer to other shorelines in other countries, said CNN meteorologist Ivan Cabrera. It triggered tsunami warnings for various countries, including Japan and Russia, the National Weather Service said. “Earthquakes of this size are known to generate tsunamis potentially dangerous to coasts outside the source region,” it said. “Based on all available data a tsunami may have been generated by this earthquake that could be destructive on coastal areas even far from the epicenter.” The quake was the latest in a series in the region this week. Early Thursday, an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 struck off the coast of Honshu. A day earlier, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck off of Honshu, the country’s meteorological agency said. The largest recorded quake took place in Chile on May 22, 1960, with a magnitude of 9.5, the USGS said.

Chile earthquake 2011

A woman holds a child as they stand outside a building as a precaution after a magnitude-6.8 earthquake in Concepcion, Chile, Friday Feb. 11, 2011. The earthquake struck central Chile Friday, centered in almost exactly the same spot where last year#39;s magnitude-8.8 quake spawned a tsunami and devastated coastal communities. Electricity and phone service were disrupted and thousands of people fled to higher ground following Friday#39;s quake, but the government quickly announced that there was

Charlie Sheen’s Hospitalization Resulted From ‘Hernia’

‘I’m not dying,’ troubled actor reportedly said in phone call from the hospital. By Gil Kaufman Charlie Sheen Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Prior to troubled “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen ‘s trip to the hospital on Thursday with what were described as stomach pains, someone called his neighbors Dr. Paul Nassif and his wife, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Adrienne Maloof-Nassif, according to People.com . “We did receive a call from Charlie’s house this morning, asking for medical assistance and advice … and immediately insisted the caller dial 911,” the couple said. “Dr. Nassif also immediately called 911.” A short time later, Sheen was rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. “As longtime friends, we are obviously very concerned about his well-being,” the couple added. “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family right now and we wish him a speedy recovery.” The actor has not responded to the variety of salacious rumors about his activities in the days before his latest health crisis, but “Extra” quoted an unnamed source who spoke to Sheen in the hospital, who said the sitcom star told him, “I’m not dying.” TMZ described Sheen’s ailment as a hiatal hernia in Sheen’s stomach, a condition he’s reportedly suffered from for several years and which causes “horrible, horrendous pain.” As for what caused the hernia, one of Charlie’s pals, Steve Brodersen, told “Extra” that it was a preexisting condition that was exacerbated by Sheen laughing too hard at something he was watching on TV. It’s possible Sheen could undergo surgery on Friday (January 28) to repair the hernia. While doctors at Cedars are not discussing the case, Radar Online quoted an unnamed source close to the star as saying that “Charlie’s red blood cell count was low and his white blood cell count was high” and that he was “not alert” and appeared dehydrated. A high white cell count could indicate an infection; Sheen recently suffered an ear infection. Multiple outlets reported that sources close to Sheen denied that this latest incident was related to a drug overdose, but the actor was said to have been partying hard with a number of adult film stars at his Hollywood home for several days before the 911 call. One of the porn stars, Kacey Jordan, reportedly tweeted a provocative photo of herself from inside Sheen’s home a short time before the star’s collapse. Neighbors say that Sheen had thrown a party the night before, where women were heard singing along to Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. The party went late into the night and into the early morning hours. Production of his hit CBS comedy is not expected to be affected by the hospital stay because the show is on hiatus this week. Jordan, who allegedly took part in the party, spoke to TMZ , saying she had a drinking contest with Sheen, who was already “f—ing wasted” when she arrived at his house. She described a late-night delivery of a large amount of cocaine and a marathon session watching adult movies in the actor’s home theater. “He didn’t want me to leave, but I was really shooken up,” she said. “I had an anxiety attack. I feel really bad. I hope he is well … I just hope that he gets better.” Sheen was also hospitalized last October in New York. He reportedly stopped communicating with his sober coach, a therapist that aids with addiction recovery, shortly after the incident. “He has not heard from Charlie since he told him not to start New Year’s Day!” a source told UsMagazine.com .

Kanye West, Killers, 30 Seconds To Mars To Headline Lollapalooza Chile

First international edition of festival will be held in early April in Santiago. By Gil Kaufman Kanye West Photo: Gareth Cattermole/ Getty Images Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell has long dreamed of taking his festival overseas. After announcing earlier this year that he would finally make that vision come true by putting on a Lollapalooza in Chile in April, he unleashed the lineup for the two-day event on Friday (January 28). The top of the roster reads like a who’s who of past Lolla performers and includes such headliners as Kanye West, the Killers, 30 Seconds to Mars and, of course, Farrell’s own Jane’s Addiction. The show, which will take place in O’Higgins Park in Santiago on April 2 and 3, will also feature the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Deftones, Fatboy Slim, the Flaming Lips, Cypress Hill, 311, Cold War Kids, the National and Ben Harper. After nearly 20 years of wandering the U.S. and then putting down stakes along the Chicago lakefront since 2005, Lollapalooza is one of the most recognized music festivals on the planet. The Chilean show will, as promised, feature a mix of international acts and South American stars, who will perform on five stages set up in the scenic downtown park. Farrell has also promised to engage in a “cultural exchange” and bring some of the Chilean artists to this summer’s Lollapalooza in Chicago, whose lineup has not yet been announced. “The job we did to gather these artists for 2011 was remarkable,” Farrell said in a statement. “Imagine gathering 60 artists while the contract ink is still wet. We put it together at a record pace as we had four months. We did not want to come to Chile with a lineup that was anything other than world-class. … Our selections are very animated, with much diversity. There is Chilean talent in the mix. … Our ambition is to plant a very strong seed in Chile. One that will grow over the years, and provide Santiago with an event for the ages.” Among the other acts on the Lollapalooza Chile roster: Armin Van Buuren, Sublime with Rome, Empire of the Sun, CSS, Los Bunkers, Cat Power, Devendra Banhart, the Drums, Boys Noize, Steel Pulse, Fischerspooner, PerryEtty vs. Chris Cox (Farrell’s electronic side project), Mala Rodriguez, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Datarock, Todos Tus Muertos, Bomba Estereo, Ghostland Observatory, Joachim Garraud, Francisca Valenzuela, Zeta Bosio, Anita Tijoux, Quique Neira, Latin Bitman, DJ Raff, Toy Selektah, Fractal + Joe Vasconcellos, Fother Muckers, Astro, Devil Presley, Denver, Como Asesinar a Felipes, the Ganjas, Matanza, Ital, New Kids on the Noise, Magictwins, Los Pulentos, Achu, Cuchara, Mundano and Los Plumabits. Young Black USA Soccer Players “Agudelo & Bunbury” Come On And Save The Day Scoring Tying Goal… Then Bust Out The Dougie! [Video]

This kid Bunbury is no-joke and the new breed of soccer player in the U.S.A. Burnley (20) and his boy Agudelo (18) saved the day for the U.S. Saturday: On the play of Agudelo and Bunbury: There is no more inexact science than predicting the future performance of forwards, as anyone who hyped, say, Eddie Johnson can attest. That said, you can’t help but be cautiously optimistic about what the U.S. put on show after Sporting Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury, 20, and New York Red Bulls frontman Juan Agudelo, 18, came on for the mispositioned Chris Wondolowski and hapless Brek Shea. A game that had been slowly gliding into Chile’s favor, and not just on the scoreboard, turned. The two dropped off, darted, juked and combined their young hearts out, involving teammates who had been isolated and generating a dynamism the side hadn’t seen since, well, the last time the two had appeared for the U.S. together against South Africa in November. In the 75th minute, Agudelo wormed his way into the box and earned a penalty, which Bunbury converted and celebrated with a silly little dance. (*ALL SOCCER PLAYERS IN EUROPE CELEBRATE… THIS WRITER IS A DOUCHE AND PROBLEM IN AMERICAN SOCCER) Later, Agudelo’s sharp shot on goal could have been his second game winner in two games. But while the aforementioned feats were encouraging, it was Agudelo’s and Bunbury’s off-the-ball play and synergy with their teammates that could give rise to a bright future for the U.S. And this is rather good news, given that highly rated wingers Shea, 20, and Alejandro Bedoya, 23, still haven’t done anything to prove they belong. Shea covers a lot of ground and tracks back well, but his understanding of the game is so poor that he appears to lack even the faintest idea of how to use his considerable physical gifts. Bedoya, too, has enough skill for the job — although his left leg might as well be a wooden peg — but in seven caps, he has yet to turn in more than a nice run here and there. He’s either been incompatible for coach Bob Bradley’s system or lacked the temerity to demand the ball. But we shouldn’t let our stomachs churn over these players. They’re young; there’s time. The performances of Agudelo and Bunbury alone are sufficient to conclude that the next generation is at least on the right track.
