Justin Bieber Can Do Anything!

Justin Bieber got himself in a spot of trouble last week in Great Britain, as viewers of his performance on X Factor took exception with the singer’s obvious lip-syncing . But the 16-year faced no such scandal in Spain, which is where he headed to next. Justin was honored with a gold record (pictured below) and also wowed fans with the following display of yet another talent. During an appearance on a Madrid TV show, it took this superstar just 90 seconds to solve a Rubik’s Cube. Amazing. Jon Gosselin: Employed!

Talk about an early Christmas miracle! Apparently Jon Gosselin has a job. One that does not involve being a douche. Well, at least not on TLC. We know, we’re as surprised as you are here. An IT guy before Jon & Kate Plus 8 took off, he’s back in the tech field . The balding, Ed Hardy-wearing seducer of mediocre girls has come full circle. A GREAT CATCH : How could any employer resist this man? “Jon is back at work at a normal job not in media or entertainment,” the source says. “He’s working in technology, which he did before the show.” As for the ongoing shenanigans of Kate Gosselin , including her appearance on the Today show in which she said she was still awaiting an apology? Dude just doesn’t care! “He is happy as can be,” the source said, noting that incidentally, he’s still happily dating the latest of his post-Kate girlfriends, Ellen Ross . Sorry to break that one to you, ladies. Just to sum up, Jon’s working full-time at a regular 9/5 job, not seeking publicity, in a steady relationship and wants his kids OFF the air? What’s next, Bristol Palin promoting abstinence?

Not Extending Unemployment Benefits Would HURT Economy

WASHINGTON — If Congress lets unemployment benefits expire this week for the long-term unemployed, they won't be the only ones to feel the pain. The overall economy would suffer, too. Unemployment benefits help drive the economy because the jobless tend to spend every dollar they get, pumping cash into businesses. A cut-off of aid for millions of people unemployed for more than six months could squeeze a fragile economy, analysts say. Among the consequences they envision over the next year: _ Annual economic growth could fall by one half to nearly 1 percentage point. _ Up to 1 million more people could lose their jobs. _ Hundreds of thousands would fall into poverty. “Look for homelessness to rise and food lines to get longer as we approach Christmas if the situation can't be resolved,” says Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial. The issue is expected to be taken up in the lame-duck session of Congress that resumed Monday. Among other unfinished business, lawmakers are likely to vote on whether to extend 2001 and 2003 tax cuts that are set to expire at year's end. … That money ripples through the economy, into supermarkets, gasoline stations, utilities, convenience stores. That allows those businesses to hire more people, who, in turn, spend more money. … By contrast, money given to higher-income families – say, through tax cuts – tends to deliver less economic benefit because those taxpayers typically save a big chunk of their windfall. added by: tverdell

A Heavy Dose of Pro-Obama Books (and Insider Favors) on the New York Times Top 100 Books List

Typically, The New York Times has released its annual book reviewers' list of the 100 Most Notable Books of 2010 , and they favor liberal authors, and most helpfully, current and former staffers of the New York Times. For people who may buy Christmas gifts or make Christmas lists based on this top-books list, Obama is still the hero. The Times recommended both The Bridge by David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker, and The Promise: Year One by Newsweek columnist Jonathan Alter, not to mention leftist Salon writer Rebecca Traister's book Big Girls Don't Cry: The Election That Changed Everything for American Women. The Times calls it “A colorful, emotional argument that 2008 gave feminism a thrilling 'new life.'” With Michelle Obama growing vegetables?
