A ctivists are getting paid from protests surrounding the death of Kenneka Jenkins in a suburban Chicago hotel earlier this month, according to the teenager’s mother. “I’m ending y’all’s agendas that’s not righteous toward my child,” Tereasa Martin accused the activists in a video posted to Facebook on Sunday night. READ MORE: Kenneka Jenkins’ Mother Announces Funeral Date Martin’s claim seemingly targeted one person in particular who has been organizing daily protests outside of the Crowne Plaza hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, where Jenkins’ body was found frozen in a walk-in storage freezer on September 9. “Who else could she have been talking about?” Jedidiah Brown asked the Chicago Sun Times during a recent interview. Brown told the Sun Times that he had raised more than $6,000 to supplement any relevant legal fees. Still, Brown went ahead and organized a protest for Tuesday despite Martin’s calls for the demonstrations to end. 5440 n river road @6pm Tomorrow! Many questions still exist im going back, this is bigger thn us. Only a direct no frm mom will stop me. — Jedidiah Brown (@livelifefreed) September 26, 2017 Martin’s appeal to have the protests end came as a social media chorus grew louder wondering about the status of the investigation into Jenkins’ death. The prospects of her death going unsolved like so many other black teens before her was a main concern of many on Twitter. It's starting to look like we'll never know what really happened to Kenneka Jenkins. — Thomas Kelly (@thomas_438) September 26, 2017 Kenneka Jenkins story gone get swept under the rug smh. Poor baby & her funeral finally this weekend. — KB (@a__mirah) September 26, 2017 Jenkins’ funeral has been scheduled to take place on the South Side of Chicago on Saturday, Martin also said in the Facebook video. Meanwhile, details of the Rosemont Police Department’s investigation into Jenkins’ death have been scarce while authorities await autopsy results. The cause of death has not yet been revealed and there is no surveillance footage of her entering the freezer. The absence of both have prompted a whirlwind of conspiracy theories , which authorities have said only slowed their investigation. Martin has pleaded for the FBI to intervene and launch its own independent probe, but Rosemont police declined the participation of the federal agency. See Martin’s full Facebook video below. Inspired By Egypt, The People Of Lybia Ask Moammar Khadafy To Give Them Free

The uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia have inspired a few more uprisings by oppressed people elsewhere in Africa and the Middle East. Unfortunately, as motivated as the people are, in each country the desire for freedom is bringing the same thing: violence. Dozens of protesters were killed in clashes with Libyan security forces in the nation’s second-largest city Saturday as protests against eccentric dictator Moammar Khadafy stretched into a fifth day. The worst uprisings in Khadafy’s 42 years of power continued as government snipers killed 15 mourners attending the funerals of slain protesters in Benghazi. But a witness said the death toll was much higher. “Dozens were killed…not 15, dozens. We are in the midst of a massacre here,” the witness said. The government also cut off Internet access across the nation, blocking the anti-Khadafy protesters from posting photos and video. Human rights officials estimate the death toll in the demonstrations has now hit 84 as the Khadafy regime lashes out at its opponents. A similar scene played out on the streets of Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, where one demonstrator was shot to death and five wounded during protests against President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Protesters, now in the 10th day of demonstrations, are demanding Saleh’s resignation after 32 years under his rule. Between all the death and destruction of protest, we just hope these people are able to enjoy their freedom once they finally get it. Source

The Fire Rages On In Egypt: Protesters Give The Government An Ultimatum ‘Sh*t Or Get Off The Pot’

Gotta hand it to these folks in Egypt, they will NOT be denied what they feel they are owed. CAIRO – Opposition groups accused the Egyptian government Wednesday of trying to draw out the process of amending the constitution after Vice President Omar Suleiman said the only way forward was through “dialogue” or a “coup.” The public show of dissent that has roiled Egypt for more than two weeks spread for the first time to the labor sector, with trade unions, railway technicians, oil workers, public transportation empoloyees and some members of state-controlled media striking or joining the protests, according to local news broadcasts. Despite government efforts to placate them, demonstrators were adamant that President Hosni Mubarak act quickly to end his 30-year autocratic rule. They said they were angered by Suleiman’s remarks on Tuesday that the demonstrations must end soon, and by the vice president’s claim that Egypt is not ready for democratic rule. “We believe all [President Hosni Mubarak] needs is seven days maximum” to amend the constitution by setting term limits and relaxing eligibility requirements to run for president, said Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, the secretary general of the Wafd Party, a liberal opposition party involved in negotiations with the government. “We are faced with two choices,” Nour said. “Either to move forward with reform through constitutional legitimate channels, or we’re opening the door to complete chaos or a military coup.” For the 16th day, thousands of protesters gathered in central Cairo’s Tahrir Square to demand Mubarak’s immediate ouster. Protesters also gathered outside the parliament and the cabinet building for the second consecutive day. Al-Jazeera reported that the cabinet building was evacuated because of the protests. A government spokesman said that he could not confirm that account but believes the cabinet may be moving their offices because of the demonstrations. Dear Mr. Mubarak, It’s a wrap, just give them their “free” and get it over with already. Clearly, they’re not about to stand down. Kind Regards, Bossip Nation. Source
