WILL Win: Best Comedy Series Veep is generally a hilarious comedy series, but the show was just not quite as funny during the most recent season. The acting was still on fine form, but Atlanta deserves the win. 2. SHOULD Win: Best Comedy Series Atlanta. The show was a roaring success when it debuted in 2016, and part of that was down to the solid script and acting from Donald Glover. It has a solid shot at winning, but this category may as well be named after Veep which will win. 3. WILL Win: Best Comedy Actress Julia Louis Dreyfus is one of the best comedy actresses out there, so we would not be totally mad about her winning. 4. SHOULD Win: Best Comedy Actress Tracee Ellis-Ross has great comedy timing and is very likeable as Bow Johnson, so we do think she’s in with a chance at winning. 5. WILL Win: Best Comedy Actor Jeffrey Tambor has been recognized in the past for his role on Transparent and the Emmy voters have been known to let the same person win more than once. 6. They wrote that “Former Stanford Swimmer Brock Turner…” was now out of prison or some similar nonsense. So we just want to make it clear here: Yes, Brock Turner once swam for Stanford University. But that fact only matters to the shady judge who gave him a lenient sentence. Brock Turner is only generating headlines these days because he is a rapist. Turner was somehow sentenced to only six months in prison for his heinous act, which took place in January of last year and which involved him inserting his figures in a woman lying on the street outside a party. He was caught by a couple of fellow students and ran away as quickly as he could at the time. Fortunately, one of those students caught up to Turner and tackled him to the ground. He was eventually arrested and convicted of rape, only for his father to argue in court that his son did not deserve any jail time for a mere “20 minutes of action.” The judge incredibly agreed with this assessment, going against the prosecutors’ recommendation and sentencing Turner to six months behind bars, which was reduced to three months due to good behavior. Turner is now a free man. But he will at least have an official stigma attached to his name forever. As you can see below, Turner registered on Tuesday morning in Greene County, Ohio as a sex offender. Shortly thereafter, Kailyn Lowry and Javi Marroquin separated after three years of marriage. But now, Marroquin is revealing for the first time that he believes the misplaced rage the couple directed at one another in the weeks following their tragic loss was the primary reason that they decided to call it quits. “The miscarriage was a big thing,” Javi said in a recent interview with Radar Online. “She always says I wasn’t there. You won’t believe this, but the Parents Television Council (PTC) has something to say about the bird that M.I.A. flipped during last night’s Super Bowl halftime show . As previously reported and depicted , this rapper aimed her middle finger directly at a NBC camera during her brief time on stage with Madonna, an act that resulted in both the network and the NFL issuing an apology. But the PTC has now released its own statement, coming down on the league for promising a clean show. M.I.A. Gives the Finger “NBC fumbled and the NFL lied because a performer known as M.I.A. felt it necessary to flip off millions of families,” wrote PTC president Tim Winter. “It is unfortunate that a spectacular sporting event was overshadowed once again by broadcasting the selfish acts of a desperate performer. “Last week the NFL formally told the PTC – and the American public – that the Super Bowl halftime show would be ‘appropriate.’ Most families would agree that the middle finger aimed directly at them is not appropriate, especially during the most-watched television event of the year.” Winter went on to blame NBC for failing to properly police itself, as well as for hiring the kind of talent that took to the stage. “The mechanism NBC had in place to catch this type of material completely failed, and the network cannot say it was caught off guard… They chose a lineup full of performers who have based their careers on shock, profanity and titillation. Instead of preventing indecent material, they enabled it. M.I.A. used a middle finger shamelessly to bring controversial attention to herself, while effectively telling an audience filled with children, ‘F– you.’” We agree with PTC in that M.I.A. is pathetic for resorting to such a maneuver in order to generate headlines. More than that, we just wish she had aimed the finger, privately, in the PTC’s direction instead.
