The Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador continues feuding with fellow Housewives , but she’s also caught up in another fight. Her ex-husband, David, is accusing her of being an alcoholic. He has filed papers with the court to prevent her from drinking — at all — when she’s spending time with their teen daughters. Us Weekly confirms that David Beador filed papers with the court, hoping to forbid Shannon from drinking around their teenage daughters. “The mother has publicly stated on television within the last month, she ‘self-medicates’ with alcohol,” the documents accuse. Discussing your personal life is part of being a reality star, but your words can be thrown back in your face in court if you’re not careful. “That behavior is detrimental to the children,” David’s attorney claims. Their children are Sophie, who is 16, and twins Stella and Adeline, who are each 14. According to David’s team’s request, Shannon would be under very strict rules that go beyond avoiding having wine with dinner. The proposed court order would prevent Shannon from drinking at all while the girls are with her. That would include a ban on drinking eight hours before the girls come to stay with her. An order like this is usually made when someone has demonstrated that they have a drinking problem. That said, for those without a drinking problem, it’s usually easy enough — if socially inconvenient — to follow. Does Shannon have a drinking problem and, if so, is it actually negatively impactful to her girls in any way? Honestly, we don’t know. Either way, this sounds like a clear effort to use Shannon’s status as a reality star against her. Things had been going a little better with Shannon and David’s divorce, right up until the reunion special aired. Is this David’s attempt to exact revenge upon Shannon for disparaging him and his girlfriend on international television? Or was this born of genuine concern? This news comes on the heels of Shannon facing a real medical crisis. On Monday, December 17, Shannon revealed that she had gone to the emergency room. “At ER with horrible pain in my ribs,” Shannon shared with her fans and followers. “Getting tests.” “Everyone so nice but not a hospital fan…” she admitted. Mystery pains are never good, but when they’re in or around your chest, they can be downright scary. Fortunately, Shannon had more to tell her followers. “No blood clot,” she announced. “And all is good.” The human body is kind of a mess, so sometimes phantom pains defy explanation. In this case, if Shannon received a specific diagnosis, she did not see fit to share it with fans. “Heading home with an antibiotic,” Shannon revealed. “Thank you to so many of you for the well wishes.” Shannon told her fans: “It’s overwhelming and kind.” Maybe David has real concerns about Shannon’s drinking, or maybe this is just a game that he’s playing with their divorce. Maybe both. Some fans cannot help but be reminded of one of the elements in the dissolution of their marriage. David, as you may recall, did not respond well when Shannon’s stress eating caused her to gain weight. It reached a point where Shannon said David stopped loving her because she was fat . Does David, even now that he’s moved on with a younger lady love, feel a need to control what Shannon puts in her body? Or is this just fatherly concern for his teenage daughters, who may soon be exposed to alcohol at parties if they are not already? His motives remain shrouded. We’ll see what the court decides. The continuing adventures of Florida Man have taken a grim turn. A vengeful ex-lover went to great lengths to find the new boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend. He hit the man over the head with a tire iron, carved his initials into the man’s leg, and then cut off the man’s penis . The Chicago Tribute reports that, on a judge’s orders, Florida man Justin Foster is being held on $1 million bond. Foster is a Tallahassee resident, but he made the trek to Atlanta before flying to Chicago. In Chicago, he rented a car and drove to Des Plaines. It was in Des Plaines that the alleged crime went down. Foster apparently approached the 26-year-old boyfriend of his former lover before the violence began. According to police, after Foster approached the victim, he struck him over the head with a tire iron. The victim was then rendered unconscious, but Foster was allegedly just getting started. He is said to have then carved initials — which initials are unclear, but many have assumed that they were his own — into the victim’s leg. Foster then allegedly cut off the man’s penis. Every single part of that is horrifying. According to detectives, Foster then tossed the penis over a fence. The victim was then dragged behind a parked car. It is there that Foster allegedly left the victim in a growing pool of his own blood. The victim was found by someone who was passing by. Emergency services were contacted and he was rushed to the emergency room. In the mean time, Foster boarded a flight back to Atlanta. Foster was arrested on August 27. He was extradited back to Illinois in September. He has been charged with attempted murder, which is appropriate since his assault could have easily claimed the victim’s life. There was more to it than the horrific mutilation. The victim received permanent brain damage from the tire iron blow to the head. Whacking someone over the head with a heavy object isn’t like what you see on television, folks. Hitting someone hard enough to knock them out means hitting someone hard enough to damage them or even to kill them. This is a truly gruesome case on every level. Based upon what we know, it appears that the sole motive was that the victim was dating Justin Foster’s ex-girlfriend. This goes above and beyond most of the horror stories about jealous exes that we’ve ever heard. It sounds like Justin Foster may be the worst incarnation of Florida Man. For now, anyway. … View Slideshow: Florida Man: 21 Ways in Which He Actually Got Arrested
One of the many stresses of flying is that you don’t know if you’ll be seated beside a normal person, a talker, or maybe some creep masturbating on a Southwest flight . We hate to refer to this airline incident as non-consensual footsie , but we’re at a loss as to what else to call this creepy assault. After a man started rubbing his feet upon his neighbor’s and refused to stop, things escalated — and the plane was forced to make an emergency landing. Justin Brafford is a 29-year-old man from Texas. He is now facing charges for simple assault and for intimidating a flight crew on his Southwest flight from Los Angeles to Dallas. This began with, as we mentioned, non-consensual footsie as he allegedly rubbed his feet against those of the woman beside him. Unfortunately, this peak horror scenario was only the beginning of the nightmare that forced a Southwest flight to make an emergency landing. Not satisfied by merely using his feet to make her life a living hell, he also began verbal harassment. It sounds like she tried to weather this assault — and let’s be clear, rubbing your foot against someone without their permission is assault. But when he allegedly warned her “don’t f–k with me,” she was able to persuade a flight attendant to allow her to change seats. That should have been the end of her story of the worst flight of her life, right? Well, Brafford then got up and confronted her at her new seat, apparently offended that he didn’t appreciate his unwanted attention. Flight attendants tried to intervene and persuade him to return to his seat. They were unsuccessful. Brafford is said to have then launched into an expletive-laden rant aimed primarily at the woman who had fled from his assault. Apparently whatever he was saying was not only foul, but alarming. (And, to be fair, his erratic behavior — far beyond what you’d expect from a run-of-the-mill creep who thought he could exploit social norms to cop a feel — was also alarming) The flight crew alerted the pilot, and the plane was forced to divert and make an emergency landing in Albuquerque. Brafford was then escorted from the plane. That whole incident sounds deeply harrowing and seems beyond explanation. But police say that they know why it happened. Authorities say that Brafford was high on methamphetamines. We don’t mean that he was a little wired — reports say that he believed that he was hearing “calls” from God while on the illicit substances. He had taken the methamphetamines the day before the flight, and he had apparently overdosed on heroin over the weekend. If you’d planned on pairing that combo of drug experiences before boarding a flight, we’d advise against it. Brafford is, of course, super in jail. Our legal system may not make it easy for women to get justice when they are assaulted, but misbehavior on airplanes in a post-9/11 world does not go over well. He could face as much as 20 years behind bars for his prolonged outburst. He could also face a fine of as much as $250,000. Messing with a flight crew is, after all, a federal offense. We’re not normally in the business of feeling sorry for major, oligopolistic corporations. Or of airlines, for that matter. But we kind of feel for Southwest here. It sounds to us like they responded in the best way possible, but their name is still all over this story. Officials at Southwest have affirmed for the bajillionth time that their first priority is the safety and comfort of their passengers. The flight was then able to continue to Dallas without incident. Source: vorDa / Getty Black women are now the most educated group in the country , which means it’s natural we have more money at our fingertips. However, as anyone who has ever dealt significantly in the financial arena knows, just because you make money that doesn’t automatically mean you know what to do with it. It’s easy to neglect investing, saving and making other sound decisions with your money, in favor of spending it on things you want instead of things you need to provide you with a comfortable life long after your working days are behind you. Culturally, Black people don’t utilize their finances the way they should in comparison to their non-white peers, but that has a lot to do with not making as much and being afforded the same opportunities. When you know better, you do better, so we spoke to Tiffany Aliche (known as The Bugetnista) and AttiQuewa Green (known as That Finance Chick), black women who are financial experts and filled with sage advice, to give us some tips on how to get your finances to where they should be and how to make your money work for you even while you’re sleeping. This is the year to level up…and that definitely includes your finances! Hello Beautiful: What do you think are the biggest obstacles between black women and their finances? Tiffany Aliche: The biggest obstacle for black women surrounding their finances is thinking that we need to manage it all on their own, and asking for help is a sign of weakness. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength. I had a period after getting laid off from my job where I felt ashamed. It was isolating. Nothing gets solved in isolation. This is what’s so powerful about my Facebook forum, the Live Richer Dream Catchers Group. Over 300,000 members are in the group. I see women daily getting support from each other. They share stories of how getting advice on building credit, repaying debt, and saving has completely changed their financial outlook. AttiQuewa Green: I think the biggest obstacles black women have when dealing with our finances is finding a way to end the cycle of financial illiteracy for ourselves and finding our financial comfort zone to meet our goals. Often times, it’s up to us to learn how to “do better” with our money when we didn’t realize there was an issue in the first place. Then once we get over that hump, we have to silence the voices around us saying that our ambitions are too much for our current circumstances. For example: for the woman barely making ends meet aspiring to make six figures so she doesn’t have to figure out which bill not to pay for the month and maybe be able to travel once in a while. Or the most insulting obstacle in my opinion, silencing the old traditional or insecure voices telling us not to intimidate our men by making more than them. HB: How do you feel about the belief that black people lack the abundance of generational wealth of other races, thus leaving them behind financially? Aliche: History’s impact on our ability to generate wealth can’t be ignored. But I don’t believe that the black community lacks the capacity to build wealth for future generations. Abundance is all around us, we just need to give our community the right tools to accumulate it. Creating affordable tools with strategies to build wealth is my passion. Green: I believe it’s true. The historical events involving slavery through mortgage redlining has set us back tremendously, but I also believe that we don’t have to stay where we are. We cannot continue to play the blame game as it does nothing for us. It’s all about educating yourself, your family & community to get ahead. There are so many tools and resources available to us that can allow us to create generational wealth including, but definitely not limited to, having multiple sources of passive income. HB: At what age do you recommend sitting down with a young black woman and teaching her the basics of financial responsibility? Aliche: I’m working on a children’s book right now teaching children how to manage money. I also worked on a financial literacy bill to make financial education required in schools. The basics of financial responsibility should be taught to young black women right along with reading and writing at a very young age. Simple lessons like saving an allowance and giving back has a long-term positive impact as they transition into their teenage and young adult years. Green: As soon as possible. If they can talk, they can listen. It’s all about creating great habits young because it’s way easier than having to break bad habits as an adult. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people with the mindset that “kids should be kids” or they need to stay in a “child’s place” not realizing that they are stifling them. Your childhood is about learning life lessons you’re going to need as an adult and the sooner we can adopt that mindset they better off our next generations will be. HB: With the uncertainty of the current administration, what advice do you have for black women to secure their financial future? Aliche: Don’t let fear or uncertainty scare you into inaction. The news can be depressing, but there are moves you can make within your control. Of course, vote — locally and on the national level. Entrepreneurship as a means to building generational wealth is another way to secure your future. Developing multiple streams of income is advice I always stress. You never know when you could lose a job or lose a salary in your household. Having a side business can ease the financial blow. A side hustle can also grow into a full-time job or a company that you can pass down to future generations. Green: Definitely have multiple streams of income! It is a must! Also, prepare for your future by saving now, making safe investments and taking advantage of the current tax laws when looking at investing and growing your money as well as have the best credit you can possibly obtain. HB: What financial mistakes do you commonly see black women make that they need to change? Aliche: Living beyond means is a common problem I see with black women, but the good news is this isn’t such a terrible problem to have. You can rectify it by taking a hard look at your spending habits, downsizing, and creating a good budget. I was able to save about $40,000 in a few years on a teacher’s salary, so cutting back can be done even if you’re making a modest salary. Green: Not having multiple sources of income. Living a life that they can’t afford. Not planning out their financial future. Letting other people have an influence over their money (significant other, friends, family “black tax” & jobs.) HB: If you could narrow it down to a few specific tips, what advice would you give a black woman about her finances? Aliche: Know it’s not a race. As teenagers, we believe we’ll be married by 25, living in a McMansion by 28, and driving a Rolls Royce at 30. Then we get to 30, realize we’re sitting on a pile of student loan debt, and feel like failures. There’s no race. It’s a journey. Mistakes will be made. Financial security happens from learning and making smarter decisions over time. Get your emergency fund together. An emergency savings fund is where you should put a few months’ worth of your salary. Don’t ever spend this money. Keeping a cash cushion will help you avoid having to rely on credit cards and other debt when unexpected expenses come up. Protect your credit. Having good credit history comes with many perks like affordable loans and credit. You may think you’re a good friend, partner, parent, or cousin by co-signing for someone else, but their payment habits will impact you. Your needs come first. Work to keep your credit history clean. Use your employer retirement plan. It’s never too early to start saving for retirement. Even if you can only put a few bucks away in your employer retirement account, do it! Work towards increasing your contribution to match your employer contribution. If your employer doesn’t offer a retirement plan, consider investing in an IRA or another retirement account. Green: Outside of the usual “make sure you have a great budget, plan for your future, fix your credit & have multiple sources of income,” do not allow anyone to make you feel negative about your financial ambitions. As women, we crave stability and security and if people don’t understand that, that’s none of your business. Also, be sure to surround yourself with like-minded people. It’ll make your financial journey a lot easier. Meghan Markle has had it, folks. She doesn’t know what to do with herself, almost literally. In this time of desperate need, anger and confusion – as she gets attacked by her awful father left, right and in between – The Duchess of Sussex can only think place to go… … home. According to the latest issue of Life & Style, Markle is planning an emergency trip home to Los Angeles to spend time with her mother, Doria Ragland. She remains very tight with this parent, even while the other parent speaks to every news outlet he can find about how terrible and ungrateful Meghan is as a daughter . “She’s at a breaking point. She needs to escape from the craziness,” an insider explains to this tabloid, adding of Prince Harry’s better half: “Meghan is living in fear of what her father is going to do next.” Can you blame her for thinking this way? Thomas Markle has often said that he has no way of contacting his daughter. His solution, therefore, is to give one disgusting sound bite after another, saying that Markle will “deprive” her future kid of time with the kid’s grandfather, for example… … and taking full credit for all Markle has become. “She became the woman that she is today thanks to everything I did for her,” Thomashas said. “Did I get any recognition for it? Any thanks? She doesn’t even speak to me now. How cold is that?” Markle, as you might expect, can scarcely handle such attacks any longer. Writes the Life & Style source: “Apart from Harry, Doria is the only person Meghan feels she can trust. “She’s holding a crisis meeting with her mom, who has some insight into her ex-husband’s behavior and is hoping to help Meghan figure out how to handle him.” At this point, though, let’s be honest: Who knows how to handle an off-the-rails Thomas Markle? Thomas has lived a quiet and secluded life in Mexico. He didn’t attend the Royal Wedding due to heart problems and Markle responded in an understanding manner. But he’s decided to turn on his child in the months since for some reason, leaving Meghan confounded and heartbroken. “She’s really struggling to come to terms with the fact that the man she once adored and looked up to has stabbed her in the back,” the insider says, adding that Meghan’s husband supports the trip home: “Harry and Doria have spoken on the phone about their concerns for Meghan’s well-being. “Harry agrees that Meghan needs some quality time with her mom.” View Slideshow: Meghan Markle: 19 Cruelest Things Her Own Family Has Said About the Duchess
Source: Eduardo Bassotto / Getty Make sure you hide the weed from your dogs. Or else they can end up smacked out their minds — which will simultaneously be hilarious to watch, but also scary. Just take Rita from Orange Grove, Texas. The tiny little Chihuahua was on a nice stroll with owner Seth Mersing when they found an edible at a park. One thing led to another and Seth was left with a canine baked to perfection. Here’s a short clip of my dog at the hospital after she found an edible on our walk at the park! pic.twitter.com/ramq9MS96i — Seth Mersing (@seth_2018) July 31, 2018 Seth had to take his dog to the veterinarian when he noticed she was acting strange and it seemed she was losing consciousness. According to BuzzFeed , the VCA Oso Creek Animal Hospital and Emergency Center confirmed that Rita had ingested THC — the chemical found in marijuana — and they kept her overnight. Though the dog made it out their high spell okay, medical officials say marijuana can still be harmful to pets. According to Pet Poison Hotline , the substance is poisonous and can cause seizures, low heart rate, low blood pressure and respiratory depression. If your dog takes a dip in the herbal essence, you should call a veterinarian or Pet Poison Helpline immediately. But in the meantime, that doesn’t mean we can’t be entertained by the done dogs. Jenelle Evans sure can pick ’em. While fans wonder if Jenelle Evans and David Eason had a secret breakup , one of Jenelle’s exes with a troubled legal history has gotten remarried. Hint: it’s the ex who referred to Jenelle as a “hurricane.” And Courtland Rogers’ new wife is pregnant. What advice, we wonder, would Jenelle give Lindsey Frazier? Jenelle Evans is … well, she’s not many people’s favorite Teen Mom star. Jenelle’s custody battle with Nathan Griffith goes further than just nasty Twitter squabbles . Both have accused the other of abusing their son, Kaiser. No matter who’s right, that poor boy deserves better. In fact, accusations of abuse seem intensely common around Jenelle. Her current husband, David Eason, being only the latest. It’s difficult to think of adults in Jenelle’s story who haven’t faced accusations of these serious and unforgivable offenses, either against children or partners or both. One of those alleged abusers is none other than Courtland Rogers. And he has the criminal record to show for it. In 2013, Courtland was faced with three different arrest warrants. The first states: “The defendant named above unlawfully and willfully did assault and strike Jenelle Rogers, a female person, by grabbing her by her hair and slamming her against the wall.” She was pregnant, folks. “The defendant named above unlawfully and willfully did commit a battery on a pregnant woman named Jenelle Rogers.” There were other accusations, including a warrant that mentioned that he had allegedly slammed her head against the floor in an effort to take her keys. Jenelle Evans also wrote about Courtland’s alleged abuse in her memoir, writing: “Courtland slapped me around a few times, then started punching me in the gut.” It was then, she says, that she started to miscarry. “My mother rushed me to the emergency room, where they explained to me that I had suffered a miscarriage due to my recent altercation with Courtland.” It should come as no surprise to anyone that Courtland has denied having ever hit Jenelle. And now, Courtland Rogers has married his pregnant girlfriend, Lindsey Frazier. This isn’t a secret — Lindsey posted the marriage certificate on social media. And she got some celebratory congratulations in response: “Congrats! Court needed and finally got a WOMAN with a good head on her shoulders! Wishing you 3 the very best and a loooong happy marriage.” Another wrote: “Congratulations to you both! It’s great to see Courtland happy and in a good place after all he’s been through.” Still, some who are familiar with Courtland’s history of domestic violence accusations can’t help but worry about a woman putting herself in Courtland’s hands. One can certainly understandy why. Considering that Jenelle Evans says that Courtland beat her so badly that she miscarried, some worry that Lindsey’s putting herself in danger but also her future child. Others point out that Jenelle has many problems, including a history of drug abuse and her own accusations of abuse, and that her accusations can’t be taken at face value. View Slideshow: Jenelle Evans: Her Complete, Completely Insane Soulmate History! In fact, some Teen Mom fans would point out that they wouldn’t trust any ex of Jenelle’s as far as they could throw them. They say that Jenelle has a type, and it’s nothing good. (One of Jenelle’s exes just got busted for running a meth lab , folks) All things considered, it’s difficult to congratulate Lindsey on tying the knot. But we do genuinely wish her the best.
