Evander Holyfield Hates, Bails on Dr. Phil

Less than a week after saying Dr. Phil was “the only one” who could save his troubled marriage, Evander Holyfield now refuses to go on the blowhard’s talk show. Over the weekend, the former boxing champ and wife Candi Holyfield were flown first class to L.A. by the show’s producers and put up at a hotel in Hollywood. But a private meeting between the couple and Dr. Phil at the host’s Beverly Hills mansion to discuss the format of their interview quickly turned into a disaster. “The truth is Evander did not like Dr. Phil and what he was proposing,” a source said. “There was a clash of personalities . He felt he was totally man-bashing him.” Whatever that means, it can’t be good! The Holyfields were also put off by Dr. Phil’s wife Robin who “was floating around the house entertaining other guests inside their massive mansion.” The Holyfields’ issues began earlier this month when Candi asked for a protective order, claiming Evander hit her during an argument in their home. Candi wanted him to turn up the thermostat and he allegedly beat her for not putting God first . There’s something in the Bible about thermostats. She later asked for the restraining order to be lifted. In order to rebuild their image, they reached out to Dr. Phil last week … but that went south. “He’s not the type of guy who likes to feel bullied,” says a source. “That was what Dr. Phil was trying to do and it wouldn’t help his marriage one iota.”

Evander Holyfield & Wife to Dr. Phil: Help!

Troubled boxing champion Evander Holyfield and his wife Candi are reaching out to the only man they say can solve their domestic woes: TV blowhard Dr. Phil! Seriously. They feel the way to resolve their marriage issues – she wants him to turn up the heat, he beats her for not putting God first – is through his format. Candi Holyfield filed, but then agreed to drop a request for a protective order against Evander over that incident. Today, they issued a joint statement saying: “We are in agreement that we both are moving forward to reach out to Dr. Phil one-on-one as we believe he is the only one who can help us at this time.” The ONLY one who can help them. They wrote this. “We each admire and respect Dr. Phil for his down to earth and heartfelt approach in working with couples and relationships in a positive and uplifting way.” If you’re Evander and Candi Holyfield, why resolve your private issues with a real therapist when you can do so on TV with this guy running the show?

Report: Evander Holyfield Beats Wife For Not "Putting God First"

Sometimes, Christianity is subject to interpretation. Some believe the death penalty is immoral, for example; others feel it is the only just solution at times. Beating your wife because she isn’t “putting God first,” however? It’s hard to see a way in which Christ would justify that one. Sorry, Evander Holyfield. The former world heavyweight champ always made it clear he had no plans to retire from fighting – we just didn’t know he was referring to the bedroom! His current and third wife, Candi Holyfield, called the police after the couple got into a fight at their home last week. It all started because it was cold. No, seriously. She claims the heat was off in their Georgia mansion and as she took their kids to the bathroom in the night, she complained to Evander. “He told me I was only thinking about myself, and the children’s hearts beat faster,” she wrote in a court declaration seeking a restraining order against him. The “deeply religious” boxer accused her of being disrespectful to God when pulled the covers over her head, and said she needed to “start putting God first.” Maybe so, but come on, dude. You can afford to set the heat at 68. Holyfield refused to let up, asking his wife if she’d been tithing. He asked for check stubs of her payments to their church and after she refused … look out. Candi alleges Holyfield hit her in the face on the back of the head twice and on her back. She claims Holyfield hurt her before in the presence of their kids. Understandably, now Candi wants out . “She is fed-up with his womanizing and money troubles,” says a source. “She is working as a nurse and is now in the process of finding a new place to live.” The boxer, who was once married to Paulette Brown and then Dr. Janice Itson, claims he’s not earning as much as he once did. Eleven kids will do that. Three wives, 11 kids, multiple violent episodes. Talk about putting God first! Evander has not spoken with cops. He and Candi are due in court Feb. 18.
