By James Montgomery Justin Bieber Photo: Jack Guez/ AFP Justin Bieber , Christina Aguilera , Kelly Clarkson , Mary J. Blige and Maroon 5 have been added to the ever-expanding list of performers for the 2011 American Music Awards , joining a roster of talent that already includes Katy Perry and Pitbull. While most of this year’s performances are being kept under wraps, a spokesperson for Dick Clark Productions announced Monday (October 24) that Aguilera and Maroon 5 will team up on their current smash “Moves Like Jagger” at this year’s AMAs, which will air live on ABC on November 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Earlier this month, in a nomination special hosted by Pitbull and Nicki Minaj , it was revealed that Perry would head into the show as one of the night’s most-nominated acts (along with fellow females Adele, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift), up for Artist of the Year, Pop or Rock Music: Favorite Female Artist and Adult Contemporary Music: Favorite Artist. It’s somewhat fitting, given not only the rather huge year she’s had, but that she also delivered a full-throttle version of her hit “Firework” at last year’s AMAs . For the fifth year, American Music Award winners will be determined by online voting. Fans can support their favorites in all categories by heading over to AMAVote.com . Britney Spears Is ‘Epitome Of Pop,’ Says Demi Lovato

Demi tells MTV News why she’s looking forward to Britney’s VMA tribute. By Jocelyn Vena Demi Lovato Photo: MTV News Britney Spears is set to get the tribute treatment this Sunday at the 2011 Video Music Awards . At 29, she may be younger than your typical awards show tribute subject, but looking back at Brit’s catalog of great videos and memorable VMA moments , we think she deserves it. As part of the new generation of pop stars following in Britney’s footsteps, Demi Lovato is pretty excited to see how the icon will be honored on Sunday night. “Who isn’t a Britney Spears fan?” Lovato asked, just days before the show goes live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. “My favorite Britney Spears song is ‘I Wanna Go,’ ’cause it’s the latest song that she has and I love it.” Go behind the scenes as Britney films her 2011 VMA promo. Since Spears first took the VMA stage back in 1999, alongside ‘NSYNC, she’s managed to rack up five performances and take home four Moonmen, the first of which was back in 2008, over 11 years after her first appearance on the show. At this year’s show, she’s up for two awards for her video for “Till The World Ends,” Best Pop Video and Best Choreography. Demi has a simpler reason for a Britney tribute: ” ‘Cause she’s the ultimate pop star; nobody can touch her,” Lovato said. “She’s been around for such a long time now and she’s the epitome of pop. So when I think of pop music, I think of her.” While Demi is gushing about Brit’s long pop career, she’s poised to launch the next phase of her own. She will drop her album Unbroken next month. Its lead single, “Skyscraper,” rocketed to the top of the charts when it was released earlier this summer. What are you hoping to see in the Britney Spears tribute? Share your thoughts in the comments below! The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Kreayshawn Gets NYC Crowd ‘Bumpin’

Bay Area rapper was joined onstage by V-Nasty. By Paul Cantor Kreayshawn (file) Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage NEW YORK — On Wednesday, while premiering their video for “Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” on MTV.com, the Red Hot Chili Peppers said they decided to scrap the version of the video that was originally directed by Bay Area rapper Kreayshawn — she of “Gucci Gucci” fame — and go with something that they felt was more “them.” If the news caused any damage to the budding female MC’s ego, it didn’t show last night. She was warmly embraced by a Big Apple crowd at the Highline Ballroom, her first official performance in New York City. Diminutive and wiry, Kreayshawn burst onto the stage at 10:45, after the audience was treated to opening sets by rappers Moe Green, Roach Gigz, Phony Ppl and finally, Smoke DZA. Despite the openers, the energy in the venue initially remained icy. It resembled something of a showcase, with people anxious to see if the controversial rapper — who’s up for a Best New Artist award at the 2011 VMAs — could hold her own in front of a feisty and oft-critical New York audience. Speculation also abounded about whether or not her White Girl Mob counterpart V-Nasty would let loose with a barrage of N-words, as she’s recently come under fire for doing. Kreayshawn didn’t seem swayed, though. Clad in a white Bathing Ape T-shirt, mom jeans and a colorful snapback cap, she squealed — often inaudibly, but not without a distinguishable melisma — over the backing vocal tracks of lesser-known cuts from her Kittys x Choppas mixtape (“Wavey”), and newer, unreleased material (“Left Eye”). Playful, petite and most of all, entertaining, she gingerly marauded from one end of the stage to the other. The energy was turned up a notch, however, when V-Nasty took the stage. Donning a retro Charlotte Hornets cap, a plain white T-shirt and jeans, she tore into cuts from her Don’t Bite Just Taste mixtape, and then played Thelma to Kreayshawn’s Louise for the rest of the show. The show’s climax, however, came when Kreay explored her most popular tunes. The opening synth blurps of “Bumpin Bumpin” got the entire crowd’s hands in the air, and then her DJ, Two Stacks, dropped the beat for “Gucci Gucci.” The audience sang back each line to Kreayshawn, while a random person walked onstage and took a courageous stage dive. “Why there only guys up here?” Kreayshawn questioned, as the beat was halted. “I need a bad bitch up here.” Her request went unmet, but that didn’t stop the crowd from singing the song a capella until its end. She parted the stage amidst a dance party, singing the lyrics to Alexander O’Neal’s 1985 hit “Saturday Love.” It was a fitting, celebratory close to a night on which New York finally gave one of hip-hop’s most controversial new artists its nod of approval. Would Lady Gaga Ever Want To Be President?

The Mother Monster talks about which of the country’s big problems she’d like to solve. She’s stumped for marriage equality and spoke out against “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Her Born This Way track “Americano” even touches on immigration issues, but just because she’s currently pop music’s most vocal advocate doesn’t mean she’d want anything to do with actually holding public office. During the live “MTV First: Lady Gaga” on Thursday night, the singer said that she has no aspirations to ever do something like become president, even if she was given a free pass for the day to be the leader of the free world.
