New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Tells Republican Haters To Sit The Fawk Down!

You tell them Governor! Christie caught a whole lot of shade for dissin’ Mittens on his campaign stop the last night before voting day. According to The Huffington Post though, Governor Christie doesn’t give a fawk what Robney’s camp is saying: Christie responded to the report during a press conference on Tuesday, saying that Romney had called him last Sunday to get an update on the situation as Hurricane Sandy headed toward New Jersey. “I told Governor Romney at that time that if the storm landed as predicted that it was going to be catastrophic to New Jersey and unprecedented,” Christie said. “I said to him, ‘Listen, Mitt, if this storm hits the way I think it’s going to, I’m off the campaign trail from here to Election Day.’ And he said to me, ‘Chris, of course. That’s what you have to do. Do your job, don’t worry about me. I’ll take care of things.’ So all this other noise, I think, is coming from know-nothing, disgruntled Romney staffers who, you know, don’t like the fact that I said nice things about the President of the United States. Well, that’s too bad for them.” “He told me last Sunday night that he expected no other political travel or help from me over the course of the remaining time between then and the election, if in fact the storm hit the way it was projected,” Christie continued. “If it missed us, I would have been happy to go out on the road and help him. But it didn’t.” The superstorm devastated parts of New Jersey and left millions without power. President Barack Obama declared New Jersey a major disaster area, freeing up federal aid to help with the storm recovery. Christie said last week that the federal response “has been great.” “I was on the phone at midnight again last night with the president personally,” Christie said. “The president has been outstanding in this, and so the folks of FEMA, Craig Fugate and his folks have been excellent.” Politico reported earlier this week that Romney insiders were unhappy with Christie’s praise for Obama, which one described as “over the top.” A source inside Romney’s campaign also told Jon Ward that Christie should have attended a rally in Morrisville, Pa., 20 minutes from Trenton, the New Jersey capital. “You can’t tell me he couldn’t have gone over there for a night rally,” the source told Ward. Can these fools stop whining already so we can move on?!?! Images via twitter

PBS Schools Mittens On Why They’re More Important Than His Shady Azz!

This idiot really knows how to tick off the wrong people… and PBS didn’t even wait 24 hours to call Robney out on his whack azz claims that public broadcasting is bringing down the economy. When Robney told Jim Lehrer, longtime PBS anchor and moderator for the night, “I’m sorry, Jim, I’m going to stop the subsidy to PBS. I’m going to stop other things. I like PBS. I love Big Bird. Actually, I like you too. But I’m not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for us.”, all of our jaws dropped and Big Bird even tweeted his disappointment. Check out the smack down PBS put out , defending public broadcasting and fact checking Robney’s lyin’ azz: We are very disappointed that PBS became a political target in the Presidential debate last night. Governor Romney does not understand the value the American people place on public broadcasting and the outstanding return on investment the system delivers to our nation. We think it is important to set the record straight and let the facts speak for themselves. The federal investment in public broadcasting equals about one one-hundredth of one percent of the federal budget. Elimination of funding would have virtually no impact on the nation’s debt. Yet the loss to the American public would be devastating. A national survey by the bipartisan research firms of Hart Research and American Viewpoint in 2011 found that over two-thirds of American voters (69%) oppose proposals to eliminate government funding of public broadcasting, with Americans across the political spectrum against such a cut. As a stated supporter of education, Governor Romney should be a champion of public broadcasting, yet he is willing to wipe out services that reach the vast majority of Americans, including underserved audiences, such as children who cannot attend preschool and citizens living in rural areas. For more than 40 years, Big Bird has embodied the public broadcasting mission – harnessing the power of media for the good of every citizen, regardless of where they live or their ability to pay. Our system serves as a universally accessible resource for education, history, science, arts and civil discourse. Over the course of a year, 91% of all U.S. television households tune in to their local PBS station. In fact, our service is watched by 81% of all children between the ages of 2-8. Each day, the American public receives an enduring and daily return on investment that is heard, seen, read and experienced in public media broadcasts, apps, podcasts and online – all for the cost of about $1.35 per person per year. Earlier in 2012, a Harris Interactive poll confirmed that Americans consider PBS the most trusted public institution and the second most valuable use of public funds, behind only national defense, for the 9th consecutive year. A key thing to remember is that public television and radio stations are locally owned and community focused and they are experts in working efficiently to make limited resources produce results. In fact, for every $1.00 of federal funding invested, they raise an additional $6.00 on their own – a highly effective public-private partnership. Numerous studies — including one requested by Congress earlier this year — have stated categorically that while the federal investment in public broadcasting is relatively modest, the absence of this critical seed money would cripple the system and bring its services to an end. How’s that for spittin’ the truth?! SMH Images via facebook

NYC Mayor Reignites Gun Control Debate After Colorado Theater Shooting

A longtime proponent of gun control, New York City Michael Bloomberg weighed in on the tragic shooting early Friday morning in Aurora, Colorado, that left 12 dead and dozens more wounded at a showing of The Dark Knight Rises . Twenty-four year-old suspect James Holmes was arrested after allegedly opening fire in the crowded theater and carrying a rifle, handgun and gas mask. The tragedy prompted Bloomberg’s police commissioner to announce increased security at screenings of The Dark Knight Rises in NYC to prevent any possible copycat incidents. “You know, soothing words are nice, but maybe it’s time that the two people who want to be President of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country,” Bloomberg said Friday morning on WOR Radio’s The John Gambling Show with Mayor Mike. “Everybody always says ‘Isn’t it tragic?’ And you know, we look for was the guy, as you said, maybe trying to recreate Batman. I mean, there are so many murders with guns every day, it’s just got to stop. And instead of the two people – President Obama and Governor Romney – talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place, okay, tell us how. And this is a real problem. No matter where you stand on the Second Amendment, no matter where you stand on guns, we have a right to hear from both of them concretely, not just in generalities – specifically what are they going to do about guns?” Watch the full interview below. Florida’s Young GOP Voters Confident In Mitt Romney

‘He’s a successful businessman, and that’s what we need,’ one supporter tells MTV News. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Andrew Jenks Mitt Romney after winning the Florida primary Photo: Joe Raedle/ Getty Images TAMPA, Florida — As you might expect, things were pretty upbeat at the Mitt Romney primary party Tuesday (January 31). With the GOP presidential candidate solidifying his front-runner status following a convincing win over Newt Gingrich, the former Massachusetts Governor’s supporters had high praise as they poured out of the ballroom at the Tampa Convention Center. After following Romney on his bus Monday and speaking with young voters about the potential impact of the controversial new voter-registration laws in Florida , MTV’s Power of 12 wanted to hear what policies and campaign promises drew 18- to 29-year-old voters to cast a vote for Romney and how they think he may be able to help their generation. Hillary Brunner, 19, said she was drawn in by Romney’s stance on immigration policy. “I chose to vote for Mitt Romney because I really like his policy on the DREAM Act,” she said of Romney’s pledge to veto a long-stalled immigration measure that would create a path to citizenship for some undocumented immigrants. “And making it if you want to immigrate to this country you have to go to the military first instead of just going to college. I think the military is a great way to show that you really want to be an American and that you love this country and that you are dedicated to this country.” Her friend, Shelly Mittal, 19, was more drawn to Romney’s character. “I think he has great family and moral values and he possesses a strong attitude towards good business, and I think he can get the economy back toward where it needs to be,” she said. Not only did Romney trounce bitter rival Gingrich by drawing 46 percent of the vote to the former House speaker’s 32 percent, but in a turnabout from the three previous contests, CNN exit polls in Florida showed that he also finally broke through to young voters (18-29). While Romney had reliably scored with older voters, in Florida, he won 39 percent of the youth votes to 26 percent for Congressman Ron Paul, 23 percent for Gingrich and 12 percent for Rick Santorum. One of those twentysomething converts, Dywan Washington, 22, said he believes Romney’s extensive experience in the private business sector could be the remedy for the country’s financial ills. “The key people that we need in Washington, D.C., at any level of government [are] more business people,” Washington said. “We can’t keep going to career politicians who’ve spent 20 to 30 years in D.C. … Governor Romney is a perfect example of executive leadership that we need. … We need executive experience and business experience, and that’s why I support Mitt Romney.” Earlier in the evening, after congratulating his rivals, Romney issued a stern warning to the Democratic Party in his victory speech. Suspecting that the Obama campaign was savoring the vicious infighting among the GOP candidates, he said, “A competitive primary does not divide us; it prepares us. And we will win.” After he and Gingrich (and their SuperPac supporters ) spent more than $20 million on negative ads, Romney took the opportunity Tuesday night to turn his focus away from his competitors and put it squarely on the president: “My leadership will end the Obama era and begin a new era of prosperity.” MTV is on the scene in Florida!
