Source: Doug Menuez / Getty Jamaica, Iowa Mayor LaDonna Kennedy and her husband Randy Kennedy were arrested on Wednesday after police found 18 marijuana plants and nine weed packages in the couple’s basement. KCCI News reports : Authorities made the discovery after they received a tip that Rodney Halterman, who was wanted on an arrest warrant for attempted murder in Story County, was hiding in a home owned by Mayor Kennedy and her husband. While looking for Halterman in Jamaica, deputies called for a search warrant because they smelled an “overwhelming odor of raw marijuana” coming from the house. After a search warrant was issued, law enforcement authorities found 18 marijuana plants, nine packages of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Each package was estimated to contain 4-5 ounces of marijuana. Come to find out, Halterman wasn’t even hiding in the home. However, Greene County sheriff’s deputies found him soon after, and arrested him. The Kennedys’ were have been charged with manufacture with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and two counts of failure to affix a drug stamp. They’ve since been released and are waiting for their court date..
Source: Mary Knox Merrill / Getty She Really Tried It A 32-year-old woman was clearly up to no good when she pretended to be a homeless teen so she could enroll in high school classes. According to WNYT.com , Michaelann Goodrich told the Cairo-Durham School District in New York that she was a 15-year-old named Riley Madison. She reportedly attended one day of high school classes and even rode the bus to and from school on December 20th. She was absent on the 21st and then the holiday break began the next week. Authorities arrested Goodrich on the 28th and charged her with offering a false instrument for filing, falsifying business records and criminal trespassing. Investigators are still unsure of how Goodrich was able to enroll in classes in the first place. District Superintendent Anthony Taibi said administrators immediately felt something wasn’t right. “She could’ve gone in numerous different ways to obtain a degree and we actually found out through the investigation and that she has a high school diploma,” he said. “So that just leads to our investigation to try to figure out what exactly her motive was for attending school.” According to Taibi, the district had to admit Goodrich into the school immediately under the McKinney-Vento Act because she was homeless. Parents in the neighborhood were obviously distraught when they found out about the over-aged high school attendee. “It was kind of unnerving, it could’ve been anybody you know you hear about school shootings all that, could’ve been anybody coming in here trying to get plans of the school,” said Joshua Mack, who has a daughter in middle school. “I mean obviously that wasn’t the case but it could’ve been.” Taibi said that the McKinney-Vento Act should probably be re-assessed after a situation where non-teens can slip through the cracks. Mack agreed with the sentiment. “I don’t know maybe they need to look into the act a little better maybe find out–not throw her in school right away, find out where she came from, find out what’s going on with the family and everything,” Mack said. The case surrounding Goodrich is still active and investigators are asking anyone who may have had contact with Goodrich to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

According to TMZ : Brock Turner has registered as a sex offender … part of his punishment for sexual assault. TMZ has obtained the registration, filed in Greene County, Ohio, near his parents’ home in Bellbrook. Turner does not list any schools or jobs under the “Other Known Addresses” tab. SMH… People be losing their minds over fried chicken . The dispute started in the kitchen of a home on Morgantown Street in Point Marion. Rhome’s daughter-in-law was cooking dinner. “They didn’t do it right and George got mad,” Rhome’s girlfriend, Anna Jaggi says. Rome’s mother says he was unhappy beginning with the peas and corn. “It started over the vegetables because they usually put them in a bowl in the microwave,” Carolyn says. After the chicken was served, Rhome cried foul. “I think he was already mad about something. He said the chicken was dry,” Carolyn says. This is when matters got physical. “She picked up a chair and threw it at him and that’s what made him mad because she hit him,” Carolyn says. The food fight spilled from the kitchen to the sidewalk drawing neighbors and police. Rhome was arrested and so were Jason and Dottie Jaggi, Rhome’s son and daughter-in-law. Rhome is in the Fayette County jail on charges of simple assault and harassment. Jason and Dottie Jaggi are now housed in the Greene County jail on charges unrelated to the incident. The Indiana Court of Appeals says six inmates at the Greene County Jail didn't commit a crime when they sneaked into each other's cells to have sex. The 2-1 ruling upheld Greene Superior Court Judge Dena Martin's decision dismissing escape charges against three men and three women. Martin ruled the inmates didn't commit a crime because they didn't intend to leave the jail
