Monique Greene and Nelly filed paperwork earlier this week agreeing to toss the civil rape case, which accused Nelly of luring her to his tour bus and attacking her following a concert at a Seattle nightclub in late 2017. Each side will pay their own legal fees, but it was unclear Thursday whether a financial settlement was in play. The case was acrimonious from the get-go, with Greene, 21, accusing Nelly, 43, of smearing her reputation before she even filed the suit with lies about her character. Nelly meanwhile insisted that their encounter was consensual and accused Greene of trying to inflame public opinion against him with her claims in court documents. We’ve reached out to lawyers for both Nelly and Greene for comment.

(Photo by Samir Hussein/Samir Hussein/WireImage) Monique Greene Suing Nelly For Rape Nelly has complained that his rape accuser is filling her court filings with “scandalous” info that isn’t relevant to their sex assault and defamation case to hurt the rapper’s rep, but the woman said she is simply fighting fire with fire. Lawyers for the St. Louis rapper filed court docs Monday asking the court to bar portions of his accuser Monique Greene’s new complaint, arguing that she purposely put “impertinent, immaterial, redundant and scandalous” information in it – like a photo of Nelly in handcuffs and allegations from two more women who said Nelly assaulted them – in order to curry public favor and smear Nelly. Greene sued Nelly last year, contending his handlers lured her to his tour bus after a Seattle club appearance, where he raped her. However, Greene stopped working with law enforcement, and Nelly was not criminally charged. But Greene fired back in her own filing on Tuesday, and said she had no reason to overhype the alleged incident, because the circumstances around it were already lurid to begin with. Greene said Nelly has gone on a PR offensive to discredit her every chance he got, and even got his girlfriend Shantel Jackson in on the act. “This is a sexual assault and defamation lawsuit that is ‘scandalous’ by its very nature,” lawyers for the 21 year old club hostess wrote in court papers. “It involves a celebrity who chose a college student half his age to rape. It is a case that is of interest to the media which defendant Nelly has made full use of by having his lawyer issue media releases and appear on television; by not just protesting his innocence but threatening legal action against his victim during the initial stages of the criminal investigation; by having his girlfriend publish an alibi; and by having his spokesperson deliver legal documents to media outlets as soon as they are filed.” A judge has yet to rule on whether or not to strike portions of Greene’s complaint. In the comments section for her latest post on the blogging site Medium, a writer named Judy Anne was heavily criticized for her overly-simplistic explanation for why so many beloved celebrities prematurely passed away in 2016. Like so many of us, Judy Anne is desperate to make somehow make sense of how the entertainment world could be shaken by so many tragedies in a single 12-month span. Unlike the rest of us, she claims to have the answer. Judy believes that a rise in the use of illicit substances is to blame for the endless string of famous deaths that marred the past year. Thankfully, dozens of Medium users were quick to point out the foolishness of her argument. (The fact that she felt the need to refer to George Michael as “an enthusiastic cannabis user” – as though that habit played any role in his death – certainly didn’t help her case.) Were some beloved entertainers felled by substance abuse over the past year? Sadly, yes. The most obvious example is the death of Prince , who overdosed on the fentanyl, which he had been using to treat chronic pain. But the celebrities who left us in 2016 did so in myriad ways, ranging from freak accidents to unthinkable acts of violence to old age. By now, you’ve likely heard the jokes about the awfulness of 2016, joined in the mourning when an entertainer whose work touched your life passed before their time, and wondered aloud why so many celebrities died in such a short period of time. Of course, despite what Judy Anne would have you believe, there’s no indication that a new addiction epidemic is sweeping Hollywood. No, the real reasons that stars seem to be falling in record numbers are more complex and far less scandalous: For starters, the number of entertainers, athletes, politicians, and other public figures who could be described as famous exploded in the years after World War II. As television entered households, entertainment options expanded, and faces were matched with the names of America’s favorite stars. With each ensuing decade, the number of celebrities increased, sometimes exponentially. The Internet opened the doors for a new breed of media personality by eliminating the need to follow the traditional paths to fame. In short, there are more celebrities now than ever before, and because the pop cultural landscape we know today began to take shape in the mid-20th Century, many of those stars are getting on in years. So part of the reason it seems like so many famous people are dying is because we’re feeling the after-effects of the celebrity boom that began in the late ’40s and early ’50s. Sadly, that means the trend of beloved showbiz icons passing on in astonishing numbers is likely to continue in the years to come. Of course, the fact remains that some of the stars who left us this year were not baby boomer legends, but young phenoms who had yet to show us what heights they could achieve. Anton Yelchin, Christina Grimmie, Joey Feek, Phife Dawg, and Dave Mirra ranged in age from 22 to 45, and they all left this world well before their time in 2016. There deaths remind us that there’s no way to fully make sense of the tragedies that hit Hollywood this year. We can point to the increase in the number of celebrities, the proliferation of media that brings our attention to deaths we may not have known about, and plain old horrendous luck, but as anyone who’s ever mourned a loved one knows, attempts to make sense of the loss of a life that touched your own are usually in vain. Ashley Greene has a bone to pick with Joe Jonas. And it’s all about the time Jonas and Greene totally boned as teenagers. The attractive male singer revealed to the world in a Reddit AMA this week that Greene was his first sexual conquest . This shouldn’t have come as a major shock to anyone who was aware that Greene was also Jonas’ first serious girlfriend. It’s not as though the two just banged in the backseat of some car after a night of heavy drinking. Are you kidding me? KSPR.com : A Springfield babysitter will spend a month in jail after pleading guilty to child molestation. Police say Joseph Presley admitted to molesting an eight-year-old boy on two separate occasions. Greene County Judge Calvin Holden sentenced Presley last week, and now Presley is in the Greene County Jail. But he won’t be there for long. He was given a 30-day ‘shock’ sentence, and then he’ll be on probation for five years. “That’s is simply not enough, that doesn’t deter people from doing this sort of crime against children,” said Child Advocacy Center Executive Director Barbara Brown-Johnson. She says the sentencing took her by surprise. Children are taken to the Child Advocacy Center after they become victims of a sex crime, and they speak with investigators about what happened. “I just can’t help but think that the victim’s needs were not met with this outcome,” she said. According to court documents, Presley molested the boy on two occasions while he was babysitting the child at his own house, once when the boy was 8 and again when he was 9. The boy told investigators that when he tried to call his mother on the home phone, Presley took the phone away and sent the child to bed. Dee Wampler is Presley’s defense attorney. He says the 23-year-old is a first-time offender who is active in his church. Wampler says in this case, prison was not the answer. “I’m sure a lot of the public is going to say, ‘Lock him up and throw away the key. And they’re in favor of strong law enforcement, as long as the law applies to the other fella. And not to their child,” said Wampler. He says Presley will likely have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, which is a punishment in itself. “Do we really want to take a boy that’s not institutionalized, that has not been in prison before, and put him in prison with some real sex molesters, and some real rapists? So that he can really learn the trade? Is that what we want?” asks Wampler. He says Presley is remorseful and is in need of counselling, especially because Presley was molested when he was a child. “It’s not to say it justifies it, but it’s an explanation probably as to why it happened,” Wampler said. But Brown-Johnson says that’s no reason to go easy on a sex offender. “You have to deal with the child victim in from of you, and saying that a perpetrator should get a lesser sentence because of their perpetration, when they’re an adult, that makes no sense whatsoever,” she said. Presley pleaded guilty to a class B felony, that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Judge Holden originally sentenced Presley to ten years in prison, but now he will not go to prison at all, unless he violates his probation. KSPR.com
