The outspoken comic has gotten public praise from everyone from Oprah to Jada Pinkett. Despite the adoration, the 39-year-old recently announced in a tweet that she’s cutting folks off she thought were friends. “Yesterday I learned that people that say “they care about you or they got your back” only mean that when they think it benefits them, I am done with a lot of y’all.” Although Tiffany didn’t specify exactly why she was feeling alone during this time, it’s easy to guess why. She’s been the subject of public scrutiny after she allegedly showed up tipsy to perform standup to a sold-out crowd in Miami on NYE and bombed. Source: David Livingston / Getty Salim Akil Thinks Alleged Mistress’ Lawsuit Is Too Little, Too Late Salim Akil has finally responded to a lawsuit that alleged he abused and stole a script from a former mistress, Amber Dixon Brenner . According to The Blast , the producer/director is demanding his alleged mistress’ lawsuit accusing him of domestic violence be dismissed. In court documents, Akil claims the statute of limitations on Amber Brenner’s claims has passed. He also says Brenner is barred from bringing claims against him due to her own “negligent, intentional or bad faith conduct.” Additionally, Akil is demanding her lawsuit be thrown out and she be made to pay his attorney fees. Yikes! Amber Dixon Brenner initially filed a lawsuit against Akil on November 20th, 2018 that detailed explicit sexual abuse she allegedly endured from him for over a period of TEN YEARS. She also claimed in the lawsuit that she shared a script with him, which he shopped around on her behalf. After months of failed communication, Akil’s show “Love Is____” was picked up by OWN, bearing similarities. Brenner is suing for compensatory damages, emotional distress, attorney fees, and punitive damages. The amount she is asking for is not disclosed in her complaint. Thoughts?

Bodycam footage shows the moment officers responded to the 911 call made by the teen, who called 911 when her dad took her cell phone. The unnamed child told dispatchers: ‘My father took my property, which is an $800 phone that doesn’t belong to him. He didn’t buy it.’ According to Daily Mail , The father, Anthony Robertson, and his daughter were both sitting outside the home when officers arrived on Saturday afternoon. Robertson then explained to cops: ‘I took her phone because she’s a juvenile, and I don’t want her to have it. ‘I can’t inspect it, because the phone is locked, so I took it away.’ Cops sided with the dad, one of the officers explaining: ‘But guess what? Everything that you own belongs to your mother and your father. Having a phone is not a right.’ SMH, here’s the footage.

The singer made the exciting announcement via her very own YouTube channel on Tuesday morning. She will be the first female host of the show in 14 years. “I’m soooo EXCITED to announce that I’ll be hosting the 61st Annual Grammy Awards !! There’s so much in store and I CAN’T WAIT for y’all to see it ALL come to life ” she wrote in the caption of her video. Alicia Keys is only the fifth woman to ever host the Grammys in the show’s 61 year span, and on top of that, she’s only the third woman of color. This gig will also make the first woman to host the show in 14 years, following Queen Latifah in 2005, Rosie O’Donnell in 2000 and 1999, Ellen DeGeneres in 1997 and 1996, and Whoopi Goldberg in 1992. The choice to have a woman host this year is important for the show, especially after controversy during last year’s program. At last year’s Grammys, only six women were nominated in the show’s major categories, and Alessia Cara was the only woman to receive an award during the entire televised portion of the show. Along with the announcement of Keys as 2019’s host, 15 women are nominated in the top four categories this year, compared to only six in 2018. Congrats to Alicia Keys!

Source: RADOSLAW KOLESNIK / Getty Five Teenagers Were Killed In An Escape Room After A Fire Erupted Five teenage girls were killed–and one man was injured–in a fire that broke out in an “escape room” venue in northern Poland, according to authorities on Saturday. The 15-year-old girls were said to be celebrating one of their birthdays in the town of Koszalin when the fire encircled the venue at around 5 PM. Local firefighters revealed that the incident was likely the result of faulty electrical wiring in addition to a lack of proper security. Poland’s firefighting chief, Leszek Suski, explained that the wiring was in dangerously close proximity to flammable materials saying, “Security was not ensured and that led to the tragedy.” Interior Minister Joachim Brudzinski has reportedly issued fire safety tests at other similar venues following this tragic incident. The president also shared his condolences on Saturday, calling the incident a “crushing tragedy.” The girls’ bodies were reportedly found once local firefighters had extinguished the blaze. In addition to the death of these girls, an injured 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital for severe burns following the incident. If you aren’t already familiar with escape rooms, this probably isn’t the best time to tell you to go. Escape rooms have become increasingly popular around the world after first originating in Japan. The experience is an in-person simulated adventure where players are made to feel endangered, as if they’re trapped. Participants are typically locked inside a room and asked to complete puzzles and different intricate tasks under pressures to exit. There are said to be over 1,000 similar venues across Poland.
Source: Mary Knox Merrill / Getty She Really Tried It A 32-year-old woman was clearly up to no good when she pretended to be a homeless teen so she could enroll in high school classes. According to WNYT.com , Michaelann Goodrich told the Cairo-Durham School District in New York that she was a 15-year-old named Riley Madison. She reportedly attended one day of high school classes and even rode the bus to and from school on December 20th. She was absent on the 21st and then the holiday break began the next week. Authorities arrested Goodrich on the 28th and charged her with offering a false instrument for filing, falsifying business records and criminal trespassing. Investigators are still unsure of how Goodrich was able to enroll in classes in the first place. District Superintendent Anthony Taibi said administrators immediately felt something wasn’t right. “She could’ve gone in numerous different ways to obtain a degree and we actually found out through the investigation and that she has a high school diploma,” he said. “So that just leads to our investigation to try to figure out what exactly her motive was for attending school.” According to Taibi, the district had to admit Goodrich into the school immediately under the McKinney-Vento Act because she was homeless. Parents in the neighborhood were obviously distraught when they found out about the over-aged high school attendee. “It was kind of unnerving, it could’ve been anybody you know you hear about school shootings all that, could’ve been anybody coming in here trying to get plans of the school,” said Joshua Mack, who has a daughter in middle school. “I mean obviously that wasn’t the case but it could’ve been.” Taibi said that the McKinney-Vento Act should probably be re-assessed after a situation where non-teens can slip through the cracks. Mack agreed with the sentiment. “I don’t know maybe they need to look into the act a little better maybe find out–not throw her in school right away, find out where she came from, find out what’s going on with the family and everything,” Mack said. The case surrounding Goodrich is still active and investigators are asking anyone who may have had contact with Goodrich to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
