Remy Ma Recovering At Home After Blood Transfusion: “I’m Doing Much Better”

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Remy Ma Recovering At Home After Blood Transfusion After suffering complications stemming from child birth, Remy Ma is “doing much better” just in time for the holidays. Without sharing many details, she hit Instagram with an update on herself and her “golden child.” She wrote on Thursday night: “I’m FINALLY back home and doing much better. The baby has been PERFECTLY fine since being born Dec. 14th and I’m resting & recovering at home. (Pap is VERY happy, on cloud 9,999 )” She also thanked her loved ones and fans for all of the prayers, plus the team of doctors and security who made sure her family was OK throughout it all: “Thank you to all of our family, friends, and loved ones who reached out- Sorry for not responding to texts and/or calls – I physically was not able to and my husband @papoosepapoose was concerned & worried about me all while looking after our “Golden Child”. Also, thank you to all the fans who sent their love and prayers We would also like to thank the ENTIRE staff at the hospital (doctors, nurses, aides, even the housekeeping) as well as the AMAZING security team ; not only did you all make sure my family was well taken care of but everyone was very professional and extremely respectful & protective of our privacy; we truly appreciate it –  with love, The Mackies” In case you missed it , Remy Ma was rushed back to the hospital after giving birth due to excessive bleeding. She reportedly had blood transfusions while on the operating table. We’re glad Remy and her baby girl are in good health.

Source: Mihajlo Maricic / EyeEm / Getty Florida Father Has To Shoot Son To Save Other Son A father from Florida was forced to make an absolutely heartbreaking decision on Sunday when he shot and killed his older son in an effort to prevent him from hurting his younger son during a dispute over a game of pool, Martin County Sheriff’s Office said. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cops were called to the Stuart home a little before 6 a.m. when Marie Maloney said her older son was acting “irrational,” Sheriff William Snyder reported about the incident in a news conference. A few minutes later, the woman called again to say that her husband shot her son. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I don’t know if there is a way I could accurately describe the look on his face,” Snyder said of father, John Maloney. “I am not sure what the dad could have done.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Witnesses say that 30-year-old Joseph Maloney was acting “irrational” for about eight hours that day. Detectives confirm that Joseph and his 26-year-old brother James had been drinking alcohol all night prior to the fight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The physical altercation began over a game of pool then escalated into the violent attack of one brother on another,” Snyder said. Maloney told police he “verbally intervened” at first, while triying to get Joseph off of James–but he could not, which caused him to attempt the physical route. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “At one point the parents heard their younger son pleading for his brother to stop choking him because he could not breathe,” Snyder recalled. “His brother continued to strangle his sibling with one arm while holding a knife over him with his other hand.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once it was obvious that the family was unable to stop Joseph, Maloney ended up firing his gun and shooting Joseph several times, according to Snyder. So Sad: Puerto Rico Is Closing 283 Schools Due To Huge Drops In Enrollment Following Hurricane Maria

RICARDO ARDUENGO/AFP/Getty Images Puerto Rico To Close Nearly 300 Schools This Summer Puerto Rico’s Department of Education announced on Thursday that it is going to close 283 schools this summer. This comes following a sharp drop in enrollment amid the island’s long economic slump, and of course the continued departure of families after the effects of Hurricane Maria. Education Secretary Julia Keleher said that even though they’re closing a large amount of facilities, there will be no layoffs. Teachers and other employees are set to be reassigned to other schools, which is part of a fiscal plan that aims to save the department somewhere around $150 million. Right now, The U.S. territory has more than 1,100 public schools that serve 319,000 students–but a large fraction of that is going to be chopped this summer. Keleher commented on the impending closures saying, “We know it’s a difficult and painful process. Our children deserve the best education that we are capable of giving them taking into account Puerto Rico’s fiscal reality.” She also said that enrollment has dropped by more than 38,700 students since just last May, and that nearly half of the schools are using only 60 percent of their capacity. After the closures, 828 public schools will remain operational. Keleher said she has invited mayors in the island’s 78 municipalities to propose new uses for the shuttered schools. Aida Diaz, president of a union that represents some 30,000 teachers, said she and others would fight the closures. She said in a statement to The Associated Press , “The damage that the Secretary of Education is doing to children, youth and their parents is immeasurable.” There’s more to worry about than just the number of schools being closed. Those who oppose the closures are worried about transportation, along with the needs of special education children; Somewhere around 30% of Puerto Rico’s students receive specialized education, which is twice the average on the U.S. mainland. This stark drop in enrollment comes as roughly a half million people have fled Puerto Rico for the U.S. mainland in the past decade due to their long recession–an estimated 135,000 of those have been since Hurricane Maria in back in September.

House Owner Sues Tenants For Using Home In Filthy Porn Shoots A homeowner named Leah Bassett is DISGUSTED after renting her home in Aquinnah, MA to a guy named Joshua Spafford. Apparently, Joshua was using her pad to film gay, transexual p orn during his stay from from October 4, 2014 through May 15, 2015…And they did it on her linens! The Blast reports, Spafford was renting the home on behalf of a woman named Monica Jensen (aka Nica Noelle) and her company, Mile High Media, to “create a multitude of gay male and transsexual porn/videos.”  Bassett says Spafford never mentioned the home would be used “as a shooting locale for commercial porn.” Reportedly, their lease didn’t specifically mention porn BUT, it says the house was not to be used for any commercial purposes. On top of that, the perpetrators reportedly soiled all of furnishings while they filmed condomless sex scenes! Bassett says she secretly watched videos on the Internet and conducted a sampling of DVDs to determine the severity of the activity. She says the defendants “utilized nearly every room of her home for their porn production purposes, including nude, semi-nude and/or male ejaculatory scenes in her bedrooms, her living room and family room sofas, her stairway, atop her dining room table, her bathrooms, her basement, atop her laundry room appliances.” In addition, she says they “deliberately used her linens and bedspreads, including the decorative bedroom pillows hand-sewn/designed specifically by Ms. Bassett, for their condom-less ejaculatory porn scenes, rather than purchasing and using more generic linens … of their own.” Bassett’s lawsuit doesn’t ask for a specific dollar amount, she did calculate that the location fees she could have made had she actually leased her home for the production of porn would have netted her over $300,000.

Records On Records: ‘Black Panther’ Is Officially The Highest-Grossing Superhero Film EVER In The U.S.

Black Panther Has Officially Broken U.S. Super Hero Box Office Record And now, the record of The Avengers shall be stripped ehweh. Black Panther  continues breaking records, and this milestone is a huge one. Following another successful week at the box office, the Marvel film is now officially the top earning superhero film ever in North America, according to reports from  The Hollywood Reporter . The beloved film achieved this milestone on Saturday, passing by Marvel’s  The Avengers , which made $623.4 million at the domestic box office back in 2012. Ryan Coogler’s directorial masterpiece also boast the bragging rights of being one of seven movies ever to gross over $600 million domestically. T’Challa and his crew are doing great in the global box office, as well.  Deadline   reported on Thursday that  Black Panther  became the 14th movie ever to cross $1.2 billion internationally–it’s set to surpass  Iron Man 3 ( which made $1.214 billion) to become the third highest grossing superhero movie ever worldwide, behind only  The Avengers  ($1.5 billion) and  Avengers: Age of  Ultron  ($1.4 billion). Congrats to the whole cast and crew for their major achievements that just keep rolling in. Luckily for the film’s hoards of fans, we can catch some of Black Panther’s main characters in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War next month.

Don’t quite know what that word means? Well, you’re certainly not alone. Tyler Perry’s latest film,  Acrimony,  has left a bunch of people wondering what that word actually means. According to reports from  Page Six , there are so many people don’t know what “acrimony” means, it has become one of Merriam-Webster’s most  searched words  throughout the month of March. The director and producer  told   Page Six , “I was watching CNN and they described our president as ‘acrimonious’ — so I looked it up. I wanted it to describe who Melinda [Henson] was, and when I found the word I knew it had to be the title of my movie.” Initially, Perry was going to call the film  She’s Living My Life , but according to Perry, that was “too on the nose.” Perry himself was surprised by the spike in searches since the film’s promotion but proudly states, “So now it’s educational.” The film, which stars Taraji P. Henson , is set to hit theaters on March 30. And just so you don’t have to look it up, Merriam-Webster defines acrimony as “anger and bitterness; harsh or biting sharpness especially of words, manner, or feelings.”

This year I caught up with some of your favorite artists and influencers at the SXSW conference in Austin, TX.  The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference & Festivals celebrate the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries. Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery. The festival took place 3/14-3/18 with most stages held on Austin’s legendary 6th street. Here I was able to attend some of the most anticipated events including Fader Fort presented by The Fader, where there were on sight barbers giving fresh cuts, guests enjoyed cocktails courtesy of Jack Daniels, New Balance provided a ball pit to promote the classic #574 sneaker, and a plethora of indie to chart-topping artists took the stage to give performances to remember exclusively for pass holders Wednesday-Friday. Raekwon popped out for a  surprise set , performing tracks from solo projects and Wu-Tang classics like “C.R.E.A.M.” SOB X RBE  brought  Black Panther  to FADER FORT with a performance of “Paramedic!” Saweetie premiered her new track “B.A.N.” on the  FADER FORT stage . Watch Soccer Mommy’s powerful performance of “Your Dog” at FORT  here . Bun B stops by FADER FORT and dedicates a performance of UGK’s “One Day” to Parkland shooting victims. Carter, who recently worked on “Black Panther,” shares inspiring stories with high school students Saturday, March 10, 2018, during a panel discussion of Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE Magazine at Epcot in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The 11th annual Disney Dreamers Academy, taking place March 8-11, 2018 is a career-inspiration program for distinguished high school students from across the U.S. (Todd Anderson, photographer) “Black Panther’s” Ruth Carter Spoke About Her Process To Kids At The Disney Dreamer’s Academy She’s the biggest star of “Black Panther” that you’ve probably never heard of. Ruth Carter is the woman behind the intricate Africana-inspired attire that adorns the cast of black blockbuster “Black Panther.” The veteran costume designer – behind such films as “Selma” and “School Daze” – has spoken about how she infused the costumes with both black pride and Afro-futurism. “‘Black Panther’ was an opportunity for us to bring African culture to the foreground,” Carter told high school students last weekend at the Disney Dreamer’s Academy at Walt Disney World , hosted by Steve Harvey and Essence Magazine. “The first part of my journey is to research and understand the culture, because Afro-futurism is culture.” Carter said she travelled around Africa for inspiration for her designs for the film. Carter said she wanted the movie’s clothes to help African-American viewers identify with their origins in the motherland. “The Black Panther suit itself, it has these triangular patterns on the suit – I call it the Okobongo pattern – because I wanted the Black Panther to not only be a superhero, I wanted him to be an African king,” Carter explained. “So when he’s walking around, and having conversations without his helmet on, you could see the patterns and feel it’s from Africa.” Carter said she was initially intimidated by the “Black Panther” opportunity, but said she was thrilled that she took it any way, and was able to add her own personal touch to what has become of one the biggest blockbusters in movie history. “So going into Marvel, and being really intimidated because I’m at Marvel Studios, and because they have the smartest people with the best ideas…I actually brought something to the table. So now that it’s all out, I feel fantastic because I was part of it, and I contributed to it, and I got over my fears.”
