Amber Portwood has regained joint custody of daughter Leah, her only child with ex-fiance Gary Shirley, according to a new report. The Teen Mom: OG star, 25, has finally come to an agreement with Shirley in their ongoing custody fight, which has been bitter at times. If you watch Teen Mom online , you’ve seen this play out on MTV in the past and will see it again on the new season coming in January. “Amber and Gary finally worked everything out with their lawyers a few weeks ago,” a source close to Shirley, 29, revealed to Radar . “They’re both happy” with the 50-50 custody split. Leah, 6, has lived primarily with her dad during Amber’s struggles with legal and substance abuse problems dating back to 2011. Since her November 2013 release from prison, Portwood has been trying to regain her daughter’s trust – and legal standing in her life. “I shouldn’t have to go through a custody battle for my kid!” Portwood sobs in the Teen Mom Season 5 trailer , but she’s had to do so. It’s paid off, though, thanks to her hard work. Amazingly, assuming she’s telling the truth about being three years sober, she’s become one of the more stable moms in the MTV roster. She’s engaged to Matt Baier, although that romance has come with its own share of controversy lately, and not just because he’s 44. Rumors that Baier has seven kids from previous relationships surfaced after Gary himself made the claim in a Teen Mom sneak peek. Amber defended Matt after haters came at her on Twitter following the release of that clip … but didn’t deny the quote from Gary, either. “For anyone talking crap about this whole situation with Matt … this shit isn’t funny,” Amber wrote. “This is real life I have to deal with.” “I’m not dealing with this negative immature bullshit. New York Attorney General Investigating Suspicious Death Of Jailed Woman Much like #SandraBland , Raynette Turner’s family is desperately seeking answers to how an arrest over a petty crime ended with the loss of her life. Via Huff Po reports : New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Monday that his office will launch a formal investigation into the death of Raynette Turner, the mother of eight who died in a Mount Vernon, New York, jail cell while in police custody last week. “My office’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit will investigate the death of Raynette Turner, consistent with Executive Order No. 147 and a conforming order to be issued by the Governor at my request,” Schneiderman said in a statement. It’s the first such investigation since Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) last month issued an executive order appointing Schneiderman as special prosecutor in all cases where an unarmed civilian dies at the hands of police. Turner, 42, was arrested on Saturday, July 25 after allegedly shoplifting some crab legs from a grocery store. With no judges working on Sundays to arraign her in court on the misdemeanor charge, police officers opted to keep Turner in custody through the weekend. On Sunday night, the Mount Vernon Police Department told The Journal News, Turner said she was feeling ill and was taken to a hospital. Turner, who had a history of high blood pressure, was treated at the hospital and released. At the courthouse Monday, Turner reportedly vomited while awaiting her arraignment in an upstairs holding area. She was then taken back to a cell downstairs. Although courthouse officials are supposed to check on the holding cells every 15 minutes, The Journal News reported, no one saw Turner for another hour, when she was found dead in the cell around 2 p.m. A spokesman for the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office told The Huffington Post that Turner’s initial autopsy was inconclusive. The medical examiner’s office is awaiting results from toxicology tests. Turner was one of five black women to have died in jail during a two-week span in July. Among them was Sandra Bland, whose death in a Waller County, Texas, jail cell drew national attention and touched off demonstrations by the Black Lives Matter movement in Texas and across the country. As special prosecutor, Schneiderman’s investigation will determine whether there should be any criminal charges in Turner’s death. We hope that this investigation is not just a ruse and that they are able to find some real answers into what happened to Raynette. Given the length of the marriage, that will probably all go into one pot before it’s divided. Melissa Etheridge has filed legal documents claiming that her former domestic partner, Tammy Lynn Michaels, is responsible for all sorts of bad stuff. Namely accidentally burning one of their kids with a cigarette. In her EPIC dispute with Tammy, who is seeking a substantial bump in support from the $23,000 per month she gets now, wants the judge to order both her and Tammy to go smoke-free around their twins to prevent future burns. Melissa also claims Tammy has accused her of having no maternal instinct and therefore is against striking a 50/50 joint custody deal for their twins. Melissa says Tammy is adamant … she did not give birth to the children just to give them away. Melissa calls Tammy an “angry and vindictive” person.
