Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Engaged

‘It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy,’ Pitt’s manager tells People. By Jocelyn Vena Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are engaged, Pitt’s manager confirmed Friday (April 13). “Yes, it’s confirmed,” Cynthia Pett-Dante told People. “It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.” Click here to see photos of Brangelina It’s being reported that Robert Procop worked with Pitt to design a ring for his longtime love. A statement from the jewelry designer to The Hollywood Reporter, which originally reported the engagement, read: “I can confirm that, yes, Robert Procop did indeed design an engagement ring for Angelina Jolie, designed in collaboration with Brad Pitt.” People also obtained a statement from the designer: “Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so Robert was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand.” Procop, who works with Jolie on her “The Style of Jolie” jewelry line, added, “Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.” Rumors of an engagement originated when Jolie — along with Pitt and their son Pax — was spotted with a whopping piece of bling on her finger. The family was photographed at a private viewing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Chinese Galleries on Wednesday. The pair got together in 2005 after meeting on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. They have six kids together, who frequently travel with the couple across the globe. The twosome have been pretty vocal over the years about not getting married until everyone has the right to marry, but in an interview earlier this year with THR, Pitt seemed to be warming up to the idea, mostly because of their kids. “We’d actually like to,” he said of his seven-year partner, Jolie, “and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.” He added, “I’m not going to go any further. But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.” Related Photos Lovebirds: Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie’s ‘Maleficent’ To Hit Theaters In 2014

Live-action film will tell ‘Sleeping Beauty’ villain’s side of the story. By Fallon Prinzivalli Angelina Jolie Photo: Getty Images Get excited, villain fans: Walt Disney Studios announced the U.S. release date for “Maleficent” — March 14, 2014! Based on Disney’s animated classic “Sleeping Beauty,” this live-action movie will delve into the origins of Maleficent and what caused her to curse Princess Aurora. The film stars Angelina Jolie as the title role and will show a different side to the evil fairy. Before casting and filming was finalized, Jolie told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz she would love to play the titular sorceress. “It’s all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl. She was my favorite.” When we caught up with the actress a year later at the red carpet for “Kung Fu Panda 2,” she confirmed “there’s a great script.” The script was penned by Linda Woolverton, and Jolie admitted she had loved it for a very long time. Even though the movie tells Maleficent’s version of the story doesn’t mean Aurora will be portrayed as the bad guy . “It’s not anti-princess,” Jolie told Entertainment Weekly about the film. “But it’s the first time they’re looking at this epic woman. … I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities.” Jolie believes “Maleficent” will be a positive film for young girls to see because of its message of seeing a story from someone else’s point of view. But it isn’t just the script that fans can look forward to; Robert Stromberg — who has worked on “Avatar” and “Alice in Wonderland” in the past — will direct, which means audiences can prepare themselves for stunning visuals as well. Miley Cyrus Shoots Down Engagement Talk

Miley Cyrus is not engaged to Liam Hemsworth, and she simply can’t believe anyone would think otherwise… even if she did Tweet a photo of a giant ring on her finger over the weekend with no real explanation behind it. “I’m not engaged,” Cyrus Tweeted this morning. “I’ve worn this same ring on this finger since November! People just wanna find something to talk about! It’s a topaz people!” That does pretty much end the speculation, huh? Miley and Liam have been dating now for two years, however, and anonymous source do claim the pair talks about marriage someday. It will be interesting to see if the latter’s new, sky-rocketing, Hunger Games -based fame has any impact on the relationship. [Photo: WENN.com]

Angelina Jolie on Maleficent Role: She’s a Great Person!

When Angelina Jolie signed on for the title role in Disney’s Maleficent , she did so relishing the idea of her kids seeing her as the Sleeping Beaut y villain. “It’s a really great script. I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve already got my horns fitted ,” Jolie told Entertainment Weekly on Friday. “My kids are very happy.” “It’s not anti-princess, but it’s the first time that they’re looking at this epic woman [in a different way],” she says of the new take on the fairytale classic. “You see a woman capable of being many things; just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities,” the leg-thrusting actress adds. “You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is.” Jolie says there are redeeming qualities to her character, despite her ruthlessness. “It sounds really crazy to say that there will be something that’s good for young girls in this, because it sounds like you’re saying they should be a villain,” Jolie says. “[Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she’s not perfect. She’s far from perfect.” The actress has already begun working with the costume department to perfect her look for the film, which begins shooting in June. “We’re experimenting with different things,” Jolie says. “But the horns are the horns – you can’t deny them. You have to have horns.”

Angelina Jolie at the Oscars: Too Skinny?

Jim Rash posing like Angelina Jolie was a highlight of Oscar night. But it was far from the only Jolie-related subject to be buzzed-about Sunday and today. The star’s weight has become a hot topic after she exercised her right to bare arms while presenting an award at the year’s top Hollywood extravaganza. Rash may have been expressing affection for Jolie with his mock pose, but many fans have been less kind . Watch the clip of the actress and tell us below … Angelina Jolie Presents at Oscars Is Angelina Jolie too thin??

Angelina Jolie: En Route to Rehab After Heroin Relapse (Tabloid Nonsensically Claims)!

Star ’s cover story this week is all about Angelina Jolie and how she’s down to an emaciated 99 pounds due to shooting up heroin like a fiend apparently. Three separate reasons this is ridiculous: The magazine proclaimed Brad Pitt got Angelina Jolie pregnant not even a month ago. Guess that didn’t pan out, given the image below? The cover photo of the star is hilariously Photoshopped to the point where her head and body don’t even look proportional any longer. She looked slender, but healthy THIS WEEKEND. While the 36-year-old actress is clearly thin, she’s not anorexic. Her upper arms have some flesh on them, her cheeks look full enough, and so on. Star’s claim that the 5’7″ actress weight has plummeted to 99 pounds seems full-on absurd, but that’s their claim, citing the good ol’ anonymous source: “Angie has gotten so skinny and frail, Brad thinks she needs professional help,” the source said, adding that Brad staged an “intervention,” to get her help. “Her face looks sunken. On the red carpet, her arms look like twigs.” Uh huh. “Brad is really concerned with her eating habits,” the source adds. “She’s existing on cereal bars and smoothies and slipped to just 99 pounds.” “She is so thin yet will still go on a carrot-juice fast for days. Brad leaves food out all over the place hoping she’ll snack.” LOL. Sorry, we can’t take anymore. Just for fun, check out Star’s cover from almost exactly a year ago after the jump. Must be something about Angelina Jolie this time of year …

Angelina Jolie: PREGNANT (Tabloid "Officially" Claims)!!

Angelina Jolie is OFFICIALLY pregnant, according to a non-reliable celebrity news source. You heard it there first, and in 99.9% likelihood, incorrectly! This is the second tabloid to make Angelina Jolie pregnant in a month. It’s her own fault, making comments that she might be expanding her brood. Maybe. Eventually. They don’t rule it out. That’s it. She also likes getting in bed with Brad , so basically, she’s gotta be knocked up. We’re convinced. Ange did say recently, “I could end up pregnant.” Could . She also said “I love being pregnant!” In general . Not right now. Yet OK! still cranks out this: Oh, but lest we thought OK! were just joshing us, a ” source close to the Oscar-winner ” reveals that Angelina is having her seventh child and NOT adopting it! In other words, she’s (totally not) pregnant, this (not) reliable source says! “She’s almost three months along,” the faux Deep Throat dished. “It’s not something she wants to officially announce but she’s telling a select group of people.” SIDE NOTE: None of whom are actual humans. “Angelina is really savoring every moment. She loves being pregnant. She’s been having a tough time with morning sickness but says it’s all worth it.” That’s good at least. Wouldn’t want a fake pregnancy to feel not worthwhile.

‘In The Land Of Blood And Honey’: The Reviews Are In!

‘No one should be surprised that Angelina Jolie is as capable behind the camera as in front of it,’ one critic says of globetrotting Oscar winner. By Kara Warner Zana Marjanovic in “In the Land of Blood and Honey” Photo: GK Films For her directorial debut, “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” Angelina Jolie chose to helm a harrowing, unrelenting drama set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War that highlights the horrors of the ethnic conflict that ravaged the region in the 1990s. To say that it is not a feel-good film is an understatement. The critics are almost completely divided on whether Jolie’s effort, which scored a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Film, is a success. Read on as we sift through the reviews of “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” The Story “Eight years ago Jolie starred in a film, ‘Beyond Borders,’ in which she sashayed around global hot spots in elegant outfits like a fashion model on a shoot. Almost as if in atonement, ‘Blood and Honey’ is nothing like that, quite the contrary, in fact, as it centers on the queasy relationship between a captor, a Serbian army officer responsible for rounding up Muslims or otherwise making them disappear in Bosnia, and a female prisoner, a woman he was interested in prior to the war and is now able to exploit, but also protect, as his ‘personal property.’ ” — Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter The Direction “Because Jolie is known for her very public passions, which have progressed from the relative simplicity of the carnal to a globally-oriented expression of the maternal, the relatively sedate tone of ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’ is unexpected. The systematic use of rape as a weapon of war is depicted with discretion (the brutality was far more vivid in ‘The Whistleblower,’ another 2011 Bosnian war-themed release). Jolie might show a shrieking woman being carried away by a soldier in the background, but she keeps much of the horror offscreen, at a remove from Ajla. Meanwhile, her scenes with Danijel read as lovers taking pleasure in each other’s company, legs and limbs tangled languidly in the sheets. … No one should be surprised that Angelina Jolie is as capable behind the camera as in front of it; why wouldn’t she be? Here’s an Oscar winner who travels the world on behalf of the United Nations listening to horror stories from refugees; processing pain is a regular sideline for her.” — Mary Pols, Time The Performances “Jolie’s actors [Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic, Vanesa Glodjo], all from the former Yugoslavia and unknown in the West except for the superb veteran character actor Rade Serbedzija, give magnetic, raw performances. Their commitment helps us through a movie that is often harrowing, never less than intense but important, one unafraid of moments too many have chosen to forget.” — Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News The Final Word “Considering the historical, ethical and technical challenges in the mix — a first-time director recreating a war of ethnic cleansing on a bombs-and-bullets level, with charged issues or power and abuse, along with the challenge of shooting in a second language in a foreign land — it is not patronizing to suggest that Ms. Jolie’s first film is an ambitious step forward that promises more, and better, in the future. The film may have more in ambition than it does in execution, but it deserves to be taken seriously as a debut by someone who may yet be as natural and assured behind the camera as she seems to be in front of it.” — James Rocchi, MSN.com Check out everything we’ve got on “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Angelina Jolie Hopes ‘Blood And Honey’ ‘Isn’t Just A History Lesson’

‘It isn’t just a political film, it isn’t just Bosnia,’ director of ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’ tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Angelina Jolie on the set of “In the Land of Blood and Honey” Photo: Ken Regan / GK Films Although Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” is a harrowing, unrelenting drama set around the atrocities experienced and committed during the Bosnian War, Jolie swears that her goal in making the film and telling this story is not to teach anything or promote any agenda. “I hope for the audience watching that it isn’t just a history lesson, it isn’t just a political film, it isn’t just Bosnia,” she told MTV News recently. “We tried to tell a dramatic story, we tried to make a good film with great actors, we tried to just give traditional dramatic storytelling, and somehow in that, we also layered all these other things and it’s a part of it. “Even if you’re not particularly interested in history, which I can’t imagine because it’s important, but if [you want to see something] just for filmmaking or just to see performances or just to see a story, an emotional relationship story, that’s this film.” Nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Golden Globe, it highlights the horrors of ethnic conflicts that have occurred far too often throughout history — in this case, the Bosnian War. The story revolves around the relationship between two Bosnians on opposite sides of the conflict, Danijel (Goran Kostic) and Ajla (Zana Marjanovic) , and the devastating toll it has on their lives. Jolie raved about the experience she had during production, calling her crew “a family,” which made us wonder if the first-time director is ready to go back and direct another film. “Oh, I don’t know,” she said. “I’m still very shy [about that]. I still can’t believe I’m even here and we did it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

She’s been called “the most beautiful woman in the world,” and has often been a magnet for controversy, but Angelina Jolie remains at the top of her craft.
