How Old Are You? 30-Year-Old African Popped At High School Balling Up Dudes In Basketball [Video]

SMH… Jonathon Nicola is was a Canadian high schooler who moved to the country six months ago after emigrating from South Sudan on a student visa. Since his arrival in Canada he’s become a bit of a prep basketball prodigy, which may have to do with the fact that he’s 6-foot-9, or may have to do with the fact that he’s as old as Chris Paul. That’s what is being alleged after Nicola was arrested by border officers for “allegedly contravening the Immigration Refugee Protection Act,” though they really didn’t specify what exactly that meant. Before he was arrested, Nicola was living the good life as a star on Windsor’s Catholic Central basketball team. He was home staying with the squad’s head coach who had previously offered lofty praise for Nicola when he told the Windsor Star that he thought he had a shot in the NBA. You got to think at some point this con would be exposed as an NBA team would’ve found out. But, then again, Greg Oden ended up going No. 1 overall, so honestly who knows?

Apparently, Genetics May Have Played A Role In When You Lost Your Virginity

In case you’ve been wondering, a new study published in the journal of Nature Genetics suggests that the age at which we lose our virginity may be partially contingent upon genetics. According to researchers, who analyzed more than 150,000 individuals in the U.K. and more than 250,000 in the U.S., there are at least 38 gene regions that have an influence on when a person has their first sexual encounter. Some of the genes had to do with puberty and hormones, while others, surprisingly, were related to physical appearance and personality. Genes that had an effect on how inclined a person was to engage in risk-taking behavior were also a factor… “We were able to calculate for the first time that there is a heritable component to age at first sex, and the heritability is about 25%, so one-quarter nature, three-quarters nurture,” explained an author of the study, John Perry, in a chat with The Guardian… [ MadameNoire ] Only 11% Of Women Love Everything About Their Hair And Wouldn’t Change It Have you ever googled “beautiful hair” and looked at the images that pop up? Hint: no one in the results looks like you or I. While this may seem like a small thing, we all know that even the most confident and self-assured woman is affected by the images of beauty she’s exposed to in some shape, form, or fashion and, unfortunately, when it comes to hair, that effect is often quite negative. A recent study commissioned by Dove Hair found that only 11% of women in the United States actually love everything about their hair and wouldn’t change anything about it. That’s a sad figure, especially when you consider 75% of the respondents believe they would have greater self-confidence if they didn’t feel like they were being judged by their hair… [ MadameNoire ] Common & Chance The Rapper Part Of Chicago Mural Art Project Chicago‘s Hip-Hop history is a vast one, but many fans would concede and say few stars have shined as brightly as native sons Common and Chance The Rapper at various times in their careers. The two are now immortalized by way of a mural art project in the South Side section of the Windy City. Columbia College’s Chronicle publication covered the unveiling of the murals, which were created by Chicago artist and urban planner Chris Devins. Devins made Chance and Com Sense the subjects of his “Chatham 2.0” public arts project at the corner of 79th and Evans street… [ HipHopWired ] Fantasia Debuts New Upbeat Melody “So Blue” [ Vibe ] Prince Dead at 57 [ TMZ ] This Rare Clip Of Prince, Michael Jackson And James Brown Onstage Is Amazing [ HuffingtonPost ] The Cast Of New Edition Biopic Has Been Selected [ BallerAlert ]

#BlackLivesMatter: NY Special Prosecutor Launches Investigation Into Death Of Raynette Turner, 1 Of 5 Women To Recently Die In Jail Cell

New York Attorney General Investigating Suspicious Death Of Jailed Woman Much like #SandraBland , Raynette Turner’s family is desperately seeking answers to how an arrest over a petty crime ended with the loss of her life. Via Huff Po reports : New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Monday that his office will launch a formal investigation into the death of Raynette Turner, the mother of eight who died in a Mount Vernon, New York, jail cell while in police custody last week. “My office’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit will investigate the death of Raynette Turner, consistent with Executive Order No. 147 and a conforming order to be issued by the Governor at my request,” Schneiderman said in a statement. It’s the first such investigation since Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) last month issued an executive order appointing Schneiderman as special prosecutor in all cases where an unarmed civilian dies at the hands of police. Turner, 42, was arrested on Saturday, July 25 after allegedly shoplifting some crab legs from a grocery store. With no judges working on Sundays to arraign her in court on the misdemeanor charge, police officers opted to keep Turner in custody through the weekend. On Sunday night, the Mount Vernon Police Department told The Journal News, Turner said she was feeling ill and was taken to a hospital. Turner, who had a history of high blood pressure, was treated at the hospital and released. At the courthouse Monday, Turner reportedly vomited while awaiting her arraignment in an upstairs holding area. She was then taken back to a cell downstairs. Although courthouse officials are supposed to check on the holding cells every 15 minutes, The Journal News reported, no one saw Turner for another hour, when she was found dead in the cell around 2 p.m. A spokesman for the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office told The Huffington Post that Turner’s initial autopsy was inconclusive. The medical examiner’s office is awaiting results from toxicology tests. Turner was one of five black women to have died in jail during a two-week span in July. Among them was Sandra Bland, whose death in a Waller County, Texas, jail cell drew national attention and touched off demonstrations by the Black Lives Matter movement in Texas and across the country. As special prosecutor, Schneiderman’s investigation will determine whether there should be any criminal charges in Turner’s death. We hope that this investigation is not just a ruse and that they are able to find some real answers into what happened to Raynette. We want justice for all of the women who “died under mysterious circumstances in jail” in recent weeks. Family Photo/Twitter

Kentucky Judge Criticized For Telling Parents They Raised A Racist Daughter After Robbery

Judge Criticized For Telling Victims They Raised A Racist Daughter Jordan and Tommy Gray’s 3-year-old daughter was watching “SpongeBob” when two armed men broke into their home near Buechel on March 21, 2013, and robbed them at gunpoint. Via Courier Journal : Two years later, when one of the offenders was about to be sentenced, Jordan wrote in a victim impact statement that her daughter was still “in constant fear of black men.” Both robbers were African-American. “Whenever we are running errands, if we come across a black male, she holds me tight and begs me to leave,” the mother said. “It has affected her friendships at school and our relationships with African-American friends.” Tommy Gray also wrote that since the crime, his daughter had been terrified of black males and that probation was not sufficient punishment for Gregory Wallace, 27, who had pleaded guilty to robbery. “If holding a little girl at gunpoint gets you probation, then our system is flawed,” Gray said. But when Wallace was brought up for sentencing Feb. 4 in Jefferson Circuit Court, it was the parents, not Wallace, who suffered Judge Olu Stevens’ wrath. “I am offended. … I am deeply offended that they would be victimized by an individual and express some kind of fear of all black men,” he said. “This little girl certainly has been victimized, and she can’t help the way she feels,” he said. “My exception is more with her parents and their accepting that kind of mentality and fostering those type of stereotypes.” The Grays were not in court as Stevens denounced their statements and granted probation to Wallace, whom he said deserved the opportunity to redeem himself. Discuss…
