So, who took home the largest grand prize in reality show history? Following an electrifying set of performances by Justin Bieber, 50 Cent, Leona Lewis, Pitbull and Ne-Yo, host Steve Jones announced the winner as … … Melanie Amaro! Obviously stunned and emotionally overwhelmed just after Jones made the expected announcement, a choked up Amaro said only “GOD IS GOOD!!” And half a million thank yous. Simon Cowell said simply, “We came here to find a superstar, and we found a superstar … congratulations and thank you to all who supported this show.” Chris Rene got the chop first, leaving Melanie and Josh Krajcik in the final two. Before the results were unveiled, the two dueted on David Bowie’s “Heroes.” The first season finale then closed out with a performance by Melanie. While Christina Aguilera made like The King of Pop at the Michael Forever tribute concert in Cardiff, Wales last night, former American Idol finalist Jennifer Hudson did not attend the event – and her absence is raising a few questions this morning. According to a Hudson Tweet on Saturday afternoon, she said “major production issues” would prevent her from performing, while a rep for the artist tells TMZ producers were made aware ahead of time and “completely understood.” However, other sources tell the site the complete opposite. They claim Hudson shocked organizers by her no-show and, to make matters worse/more controversial, she was paid in full ahead of time for the gig. Those who did play a role in the tribute, meanwhile, included Ne-Yo, LaToya Jackson, Leona Lewis, Cee Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Beyonce (via satellite) and Jamie Foxx, who served as host. Chris Brown has been shut out of performing in the U.K. AGAIN — and this time it’s for the very special MJ tribute scheduled to go down tomorrow. One day before the Michael Jackson tribute, Chris Brown has been forced to pull out after he was denied a work visa because of his criminal record. The singer was set to honor the late King of Pop with a performance at the Oct. 8 star-studded Michael Forever concert in Wales, but he’s now axed his plans after being barred from entering the U.K. due to his 2009 assault conviction for attacking his then-girlfriend Rihanna. The show has been plagued with problems in recent weeks – the Black Eyed Peas dropped out of the tribute on Thursday due to “unavoidable circumstances”, and Gene Simmons was removed from the bill following complaints from fans regarding previous comments the Kiss rocker had made regarding Jackson’s child abuse allegations. Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Ne-Yo and Leona Lewis are still expected to perform as planned. The British pop chanteuse has taken to her Facebook page to announce that the album is now expected to drop next year, instead of November as originally planned. “Just wanted to update everyone on the album!” she wrote . “I’m feeling so inspired right now and have decided to continue recording! I have a collection of songs that I’m so in love with and I [know] there’s more to be born so it means the album will come early next year x.” Despite the delay, she did tease fans with a single, “Collide,” earlier this year. The song, written and produced by Autumn Rowe and produced by Sandy Vee, garnered attention when Swedish DJ Avicii claimed it was plagiarized from his 2010 track “Penguin.” Avicii was eventually given co-writing credits on the track, NME.com reports. A video for the song dropped this past summer and featured Lewis getting flirty on the beach. The dance-flavored track was something of a departure for Lewis, who made a name for herself with big ballads and mid-tempo hits like “Better in Time” and “Bleeding Love.” She’s reportedly been in the studio with a number of A-listers including Chuck Harmony, Claude Kelly, Ryan Tedder, Fraser T.
