Congratulations are in order for one of our favorite swirly couples! Mellody Hobson walked down the aisle with “Star Wars” billionaire baller George Lucas! Via People reports : Star Wars creator George Lucas received some earthly love from his Hollywood pals this weekend after tying the knot with fiancée Mellody Hobson on Saturday night, a source confirms to PEOPLE. Friends at the wedding – which took place in Marin County, Calif., where Lucas’s Skywalker Ranch is located – also shared the happy news via Twitter. “Let’s give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his bride Melodie on this, their wedding day,” Tweeted Samuel L. Jackson, while Ron Howard Tweeted that their ceremony “was a joy to behold.” “Bill Moyers service was beautiful, nothing short of profound. Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Lucas,” Howard wrote. Lucas, 69, became engaged to Hobson, 44, who heads the investment management firm Ariel Investments, in January, after dating since 2006. He was previously married to film editor Marcia Lucas from 1969 until their divorce in 1983. Hobson acts as a money and personal finance contributor to ABC News. She is also chairman of the board at Dream Works Animation SKG Inc. Best of luck to this happy couple!

George Lucas will take some part in the planned Star Wars: Episode VII planned by new Lucasfilm owner Disney, but it will likely be a minimal role. Speaking at the Governor’s Awards Saturday, he gave some insight on his duties in the next Star Wars installment being guided by Disney. “[If the filmmakers ask],’Who’s this guy?’ I can tell them,” he told Access Hollywood at the event in Los Angeles. “I mean, they have a hundred encyclopedias and things, but I actually know a lot. I can say, ‘This is this and this is that.'” Continuing, Lucas added, “Basically I’m not — I don’t really have much to do.” Lucas recently said in a more official capacity following the sale of Lucasfilm: “… Now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime.” He also said he’d like to do “little personal films” going forward . Speculation has continued to swirl over who will direct the next Episode VII , though Lucas’ longtime friend, Steven Spielberg, nipped any rumors he’s in the running recently saying Star Wars is not his ‘genre.’ “I’m pretty sure he’d never want to do that!” Lucas said when asked if he’d give his approval should Spielberg ever change his mind. “I don’t think he’d want to.” Star Wars: Episode VII is slated to hit theaters in 2015. George Lucas Makes An Impact With Red Tails George Lucas is all the way down with the brown… George Lucas believes his big-budget movie “Red Tails” about the famed Tuskegee Airmen moved the ball forward for films starring or created by African-Americans in Hollywood, but didn’t change the game. “It had an affect on a lot of kids and adults. Now it’s the one thing that everyone comes up to me and says ‘thank you’ for. I’m proud of that,” he told us at the Fostering a Legacy benefit Saturday evening in East Hampton for singer Ne-Yo’s Compound Foundation, which supports kids in foster care. Lucas, who has three adopted children, was honored at the benefit for his positive impact on young adults. The movie, which took Lucas more than 20 years to bring to theaters and was produced with $58 million of his own money, raked in $50 million at theaters, surpassing Hollywood’s expectations. “We didn’t get to a point when they said, ‘Oh let’s just do black movies.’ But every time you poke ’em, it makes an effect.” said Lucas, who attended the benefit with girlfriend Mellody Hobson. The director announced his retirement earlier this year to focus on making smaller “hobby films,” but told us it will also leave more time for Hobson. Awww, how sweet.
