John Hurt: Mourned and Celebrated by Hollywood

John Hurt, an absolutely incredible actor, passed away last night at the age of 77 years old. He'd been battling pancreatic cancer for a few years. But instead of focusing on the sadness of his death , let's take some time to focus on his career. And goodness, what a career it was. John was perhaps best known for starring in The Elephant Man, but he also had notable roles in movies like Alien and V for Vendetta. Many people would also recognize him from his work in the Harry Potter movies — he played Ollivander, the dedicated wandmaker. But in addition to making so many wonderful films, he was also, as we're learning, a great person. Check out many celebrities who've taken the time to pay tribute to this man: 1. Elijah Wood “Very sad to hear of John Hurt’s passing. It was such an honor to have watched you work, sir.” 2. J.K. Rowling “So very sad to hear that the immensely talented and deeply beloved John Hurt has died. My thoughts are with his family and friends.” 3. Sharon Stone “God speed to John Hurt, a legendary actor and good human being.” 4. Kumail Nanjiani “Oh no. RIP John Hurt. He made everything he was in better. I was looking forward to seeing many more performances.” 5. Kiefer Sutherland “My deepest sympathies to John Hurt’s family, friends and fans. He was a dear friend.” 6. Mel Brooks “It was terribly sad today to learn of John Hurt’s passing. He was a truly magnificent talent. No one could have played The Elephant Man more memorably. He carried that film into cinematic immortality. He will be sorely missed.” View Slideshow

Kim Kardashian Flour Bomb: Kaught on Kamera!

Kim Kardashian has been flour bombed. As previously reported, the professional celebrity was doing what she does best last night in Los Angeles – posing on a red carpet – when a young woman ran up and doused her with a bag of white powder later identified as basic cooking flour. “I’m fine,” Kardashian told E! News after the incident. “You have to laugh it off! I brushed off and came right back out.” She also didn’t press charges against the culprit, who was detained by police and then released. What does it say that a tiny percentage of the THG staff wonders whether Kim concocted this flap on her own for the sake of publicity and sympathy? Just the obvious, we suppose. Watch footage from the event now: Kim Kardashian: Flour Bombed!

Courtney Robertson and Ben Flajnik: Staying Strong, Moving in Together Soon!

The Bachelor stars Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson are determined to make this thing work in spite of all the negativity – and they appear to be succeeding. At least in the immediate aftermath of The Bachelor bloodbath. Once host-pimp Chris Harrison coughed up and Ben re-issued the $80,000 Neil Lane ring to Courtney on the After The Final Rose special, they turned a corner. Courtney says that despite the bumps in the road over the last few months, things are progressing nicely and she’s nothing but optimistic for the future. “We try not to pay attention to it,” Courtney said this week of the tabloid scrutiny. “I guess positive stories don’t sell, so no one wants to run the truth.” However, it hasn’t been all nude photo scandals , cheating rumors and hating. The general public, Court says, has been quite supportive in recent weeks: “I just spent the weekend with Ben in San Francisco and people kept coming up, offering words of encouragement. So, things seem to be getting better.” Courtney Robertson reiterated that she believes Ben did not cheat, saying “at the end of the day, if I didn’t trust him, I wouldn’t be with him, period.” “He trusted and believed in the real me. This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I found Ben; he made everything worth it.” On the topic of moving in together, she says, “I’m hopeful it will happen by summer. We’re not in a rush, but neither of us wants to be in a long distance relationship.” “For now, we have a lot of fun, little trips planned. But I do love San Francisco and can definitely see myself having a happy life there with Ben.” As for Ben’s sister Julia, who Tweeted the pic above of their recent double date, she says they “talk all the time and she’s really helped me get through this.” What do you think? Starting to come around? Just a little? Will Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson last?
