Mad Men Season 7 is making like another AMC hit, Breaking Bad. The iconic show’s final season will kick off in the spring, air seven episodes, then take a long break before returning with seven more to end its run for good. Breaking Bad Season 5 “attracted nearly double the viewers to its second half premiere than had watched any previous episode,” said Charlie Collier, AMC President. “We are determined to bring Mad Men a similar showcase.” “In an era where high-end content is savored and analyzed, and catch-up time is used well to drive back to live events, we believe this is the best way.” The first set of episodes will be called “The Beginning,” while the back half will be titled “The End of an Era.” It’s not clear when the back half of the season will air. Adds Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner: “We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience.” “[We] welcome this unique manner of ending this experience.”

Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri is brushing off the deluge of racist Tweets that followed her win last night, while denying that she bashed her predecessor. Many of the tweets were attacks on the fact that Nina, 24, is the first woman of Indian-American descent to win the pageant and wear the crown. She was referred to as “the Arab,” or “the terrorist,” or “Miss 7-11” by some, with commenters pointing out “This is America, not India” and so forth. If it’s bothering her at all, Nina Davuluri isn’t showing it. “I have to rise above that,” said the former Miss New York and native of Syracuse, N.Y. “I always viewed myself as first and foremost American.” “I’m so happy this organization has embraced diversity,” she said. “I’m thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new Miss America.” Meanwhile, Davuluri, 24, addressed a scandalous report that surfaced several days before Sunday night’s pageant in a sitdown with Good Morning America . According to Page Six , Nina was said to have been secretly recorded calling Mallory Hagan “fat as f–k” before the pageant. Hagan is Miss America 2013. At the time, she said the remarks were made by “people in my hotel room” and MIss America organizers said there was “no validity” to the report. “Oh my gosh,” said Davuluri on Monday, addressing the controversy head-on. “It was such an unfortunate situation. I never made those comments.” “I called Mallory and have apologized to her because it was the right thing to do. And we worked it out. She’s been an incredible resource throughout this journey.” She noted that she hugged Mallory Hagan after winning Miss America 2014 . “And I’m just so thankful to have her be a part of this,” Davuluri said. Nina said she was most proud of her talent portion of the show: “It’s the first time Bollywood has ever been performed on the Miss America stage and it’s such an honor for myself, my family and the Indian community, as well.” Nina graduated in 2012 from the University of Michigan with a degree in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science. She plans to pursue career as a physician. A self-proclaimed geek, in Nina’s official Miss New York bio video, she jokes she’s “kind of a nerd,” adding, “I love Star Wars, Star Trek and anything sci-fi.” Congratulations to the beautiful, talented and smart Miss America!

Mallory Hagan, the reigning Miss America, has admitted to The New York Post that Toddlers & Tiaras is her “guilty pleasure.” And, no surprise here, the gorgeous blonde is all for childhood pageants. “I think a hobby is a hobby,” Hagan says . “If a child wants to do it, that is their prerogative… I absolutely loved doing pageants when I was little. They weren’t as grandiose as the ones you see on television, but I enjoyed being onstage.” But many critics around the country do NOT enjoy the series Mallory loves so much. Where do you stand? Last night’s Miss America pageant saw Mallory Hagan win the coveted tiara, but also offered a host of fascinating, LOL-tastic revelations from the contestants. Mallory Hagan is Miss America 2013. The reigning, beautiful Miss New York bested the talented field to capture the prestigious pageant last night! Fifty-three ladies danced, twirled, flashed pearly whites, worked it in bikinis and strutted their best stuff in a quest for the tiara and the scholarship cash. In the end, the 23-year-old from Brooklyn emerged victorious. Prior to being named Miss America, Mallory Hagan attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, eyeing a career in global cosmetics marketing. Her platform issue is child sexual abuse prevention and she plans to obtain a degree in cosmetics and fragrance marketing, according to her bio. She is expected to spend her title reign on a nationwide speaking tour, raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network, Miss America’s official charity. She was tops with the judges in the swimsuit competition Saturday, and she performed a mean tap dance to James Brown’s “Get Up Offa That Thing.” Mallory answered a difficult question about whether armed guards belong in grade schools by saying we should not fight violence with violence. Hagan defeated Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers, who took second, and Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton, who finished third, to win Miss America 2013. Congratulations to all!
