Reasonable Doubt: Jay-Z Sus-ly Says He Spoke To Kaepernick Before Signing NFL Deal — But Colin’s Camp Claims THIS

Source: Shareif Ziyadat / Michael Zagaris/San Francisco 49ers/ / Getty Colin Kaepernick’s Camp Denies Speaking With Jay-Z Before New NFL Deal We’ve known Jay-Z to be many things over the years, but is a liar one of them? According to Colin Kaepernick ‘s camp, that may be the case. After news broke on Wednesday that Hov signed a new partnership with the NFL , folks automatically assumed that the rap mogul was undercutting Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling protest. However, Jay discredited the claims during a meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell at Roc Nation’s NYC offices, saying: “There’s two parts of protest: the protest, and then there’s a company or individual saying ‘I hear you, what do we do next?’ For me it’s about actionable items, what are we gonna do about it?” Both Jay and Goodell also claimed to have spoken to Kap before inking the deal to help the NFL with entertainment and social justice issues. But according to Kaepernick’s attorney, Mark Geragos, the rap mogul did not talk to the former NFL prior to signing the deal. Even Kapernick’s girlfriend Nessa spoke out about the claims, adding that Jay “NEVER included him in the discussion”. THIS is a lie. COLIN never spoke to Jay-Z and NFL ahead of that deal being done. They NEVER included him in any discussion https://t.co/TWmoXS4JVJ pic.twitter.com/2bjSIEtnjQ — NESSA (@nessnitty) August 14, 2019 And what does Hov have to say about the backlash? TMZ reports: “Jay-Z’s camp tells us that he he has absolutely spoken to Kap within the last 48 hours, however … that was NOT before Jay agreed to his new partnership with the NFL. It’s unclear what they discussed, but we’re told this was not a case of Jay checking in with Colin for approval. It couldn’t have been … the deal was already signed. To be clear … we’re told the question posed to Jay during the media event was simply whether he had spoken to Colin — NOT whether he had talked to Colin about the partnership.” Chiiiiillle. Who do you believe?

5 Light-Hearted Netflix Picks, Perfect For After You Watch Something A Little Too Heavy

View original post here:

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty 5 Netflix Picks That’ll Get You Out Of A Serious Slump The world is still reeling from what we all saw when we watched Ava DuVernay’s recently released masterpiece, When They See Us . The all-too-familiar story about the Central Park 5 was presented to us with more information, more emotion, and more grit than ever before–causing outrage, anger, and every other possible emotion for the poor young men who suffered the consequences of a crime they didn’t commit. When They See Us is more than necessary, but even so, it’s still hard to watch the reenactments of just how seriously these unassuming teenagers were taken advantage of and wrongfully punished. With that being said, sometimes the only thing we want after watching something so draining is something more light-hearted to take our mind off of the terrible things still going on in this world. Here are five picks to add to your Netflix queue for the next time you watch something painfully heavy and need some balance in your life. 1. Always Be My Maybe View this post on Instagram If you haven’t watched #AlwaysBeMyMaybe yet, I suggest you get to it tonight before all your co-workers discuss the big spoiler at work tomorrow! A post shared by Ali Wong (@aliwong) on Jun 2, 2019 at 10:20pm PDT “Childhood sweethearts have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years, only reconnecting as adults when Sasha runs into Marcus in San Francisco. Although the old sparks are still there, the couple live in different worlds.” Always Be My Maybe is the epitome of a light-hearted, funny movie that just puts you in a good mood! If you just watched something heavy, or even if you’re just feeling down because of some other reason, this should be your number one pick. 2. Good Girls View this post on Instagram Some light gardening or a crime scene cover up? #GoodGirls A post shared by Good Girls (@nbcgoodgirls) on May 6, 2019 at 12:00pm PDT “When sisters Beth and Annie and their best friend Ruby become fed up with playing by the rules and not getting the respect they deserve, they band together to take control of their lives — by holding up a local grocery store.  In desperate need of money, the women plan the heist expecting to ease their financial burdens. But new to the game of crime, they get pulled in deeper than they ever imagined — and the only way out of this will be together.” You might think a show about moms-turned-criminals is pretty heavy, but I promise you, it’s not. Good Girls is the perfect mix of action and comedy and you’ll probably get through all of season 1 on Netflix in a night or two. 3. Dead To Me View this post on Instagram Did we just fall in love? (fun fact: that's dreamy actor @brandonoscott actually singing!) A post shared by Dead to Me (@deadtome) on May 18, 2019 at 10:30am PDT “Jen’s husband recently died in a hit-and-run, and the sardonic widow is determined to solve the crime. Optimistic free spirit Judy has recently suffered a tragic loss of her own. The ladies meet at a support group and, despite their polar-opposite personalities, become unlikely friends. As the women bond over bottles of wine and a shared affinity for “The Facts of Life,” Judy tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it.” Okay, so this isn’t the lightest show in the world, but the dark comedy will suck you in and be sure to get you out of even the lowest slump. 4. Jailbirds View this post on Instagram Congrats to @44_blue whose new series #jailbirds is officially the No. 1 Reality Show on @netflixuk, and No. 5 in their list of Most Watched Shows this week! #jailbirdsnetflix #numberone A post shared by Red Arrow Studios (@redarrowstudios) on May 23, 2019 at 10:31am PDT “Jailbirds is a documentary television series about inmates at the Sacramento County Jail.” This show is….crazy. If anything, the things you see going on in this jail will take your mind off of whatever you’ve got going on just from how wild these people and their antics are. 5. Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee View this post on Instagram Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only @realtracymorgan. A post shared by Jerry Seinfeld (@jerryseinfeld) on Jul 15, 2018 at 6:59am PDT “Comic Jerry Seinfeld is the creator, executive producer and host of this unique series that features vintage cars, funny conversations and a lot of caffeine. Jerry picks up each guest in a special car and heads to a cafe or restaurant. While the guests are typically comics, one episode features a drive around the White House grounds with President Barack Obama in a 1963 Chevy Corvette Stingray.” Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee   is the definition of light-hearted. With guests like President Obama and Tracy Morgan, there’s an episode for just about everybody–and there’s nothing better than seeing two comedians tell jokes back and forth for a good 30 minutes.

Jeannie Mai Didn’t Speak To Her Mom For 8 Years Because She Didn’t Believe Her Cousin Molested Her

Original post:

Source: Image Group LA / Getty Earlier this month on “The Real,” Jeannie Mai revealed that  she and mother were estranged for eight years . Essentially, the two disowned one another. Jeannie left the family home, she and her mother didn’t speak and on the rare occasions when they did find themselves in the same place, at the same time, it was often tense and violent. During the episode, Jeannie didn’t share why she stopped speaking to her mother. She simply said their relationship suffered “because she wasn’t supportive to me when I needed her most at that time.” Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). I had an inkling that she was referring to the sexual abuse she endured as a child, which she also spoke about on “The Real,” but I wasn’t sure. Well, in a very emotional, tear-jerking video on her YouTube channel, she and her mother sat down to explain that the two didn’t speak from the time Jeannie was 16 until she was 24-years-old because of the way her mother reacted to the admission that Jeannie was being molested. Email Submit Jeannie: Coming from an Asian culture, specifically Vietnamese, Chinese, we don’t usually have therapeutic conversations. We don’t talk out our problems. We don’t usually have family meetings where we say, ‘Hey guys, I’m hurting.’ There are problems, but most of time, you keep it to yourself. Even though Mama Mai grew up in a culture where you hide your problems, you tried to teach me to be proud of who you are, to speak up, don’t let somebody else silence your voice. I grew up with an Americanized way of thinking but with my mom who still had traditional ways, there still is a learning curve to connect the two. When my second brother was born, there were three kids in the house now, so Mama Mai had to take on a second job so she became very busy, we needed to find a babysitter. So we called upon a family member. This family member came over every single day and stayed with me after school and became a really cool, iconic person in my life. This person was about 16, 17 and I was 9…And I just remember one day, this person sitting really close to me, we were playing video games and he started to touch my thigh. Every day, the touching continued a little bit more. Him taking off some of my clothes. I remember him pulling me into that shower. It was the first time I’d ever seen a grown man and what he looked like. I remember him telling me to touch him in certain ways. And this happened every day for a few weeks and then it turned into months and then I remember one year going by. I didn’t want to say anything because I was afraid. Honestly, I knew that you and dad were struggling with money and I knew that we had to have a babysitter so I was afraid of getting him in trouble because then who would watch over us. And you were always really tired because you had two jobs and you were stressed out. He said certain things that would make me afraid of making you angry at me. He said things like, “Your mom’s going to hit you if you talk about the family.” “Nobody’s going to believe you. People think little girls like you are crazy.” I would come home and go to my room and I just kind of knew he would come in at some point. And there was nowhere in my house to run to. At this point, I’m like a teenager, like 13, 14 and I remember getting quieter. I started getting nightmares. I feel like you and I got farther from each other because you were working so much. I approached my mom and I tried to tell you what had happened. You were in the kitchen you were cooking something and I remember telling her, almost pleading with her, ‘I don’t like this person. I don’t want to stay at home with him anymore, please stay home with me.’ I remember you were confused. I think you thought we were fighting like kids fighting. The words I was saying was trying to get my mom to get him to leave. But I wasn’t able to say it clearly. So she didn’t get it. SO she just said, ‘You guys don’t like each other right now, just ignore each other for now.’ And I kind of went back to my own corner and he was becoming more aggressive with what he was doing to me, in private. So I went to my mom and I said, ’[This person] was doing things to me that gave me nightmares. You looked really confused.” Mama Mai: I don’t realize what you trying to say. Jeannie Mai: I told you he tried to take off my clothes. Mama Mai: I don’t believe it. That’s my reaction because his parents is divorced. So my father bring him to our house at one years old. He’s like a real son. He talked to me, he respected me. He’s very sweet, he’s really nice. If I ask for help, he’s going to do it. So when you tell me, I feel like it’s not right. It doesn’t match up. I don’t believe it and I just let it go. I should have get action to ask him. Maybe I can say I’m stupid or I didn’t pay attention. I never think he going to do that. I never because I love him very much. Jeannie: But did you love him more than your daughter? Who was trying to tell you something? Mama Mai: I love him more than you because at that time I’m thinking, he has no parents. I bring him to my house, I feel like I rescue him. At least you have father, you have mother. Him have nobody… I got tricked because I didn’t see anything bad about him. He’s a part of the family. Jeannie: So, in that moment, I was about 15. I remember distinctly those words, ‘I don’t believe you. He wouldn’t do that. That’s your cousin. This is in your head.’ I felt by myself. I even got to the point where I asked myself, did I imagine these things? I knew that it wasn’t just in my head. And that’s when I started to separate from you mom. I decided at 16, I ran away from home. So I packed up my things, I left the house and moved to San Francisco. And pretty much have been independent since 16. I spent 9 years, almost ten years never celebrating Mother’s Day, never celebrating Christmases with my family, all of the traditions we always did, it stopped completely. My mom was mad at me for running away because she felt that that was disrespectful and I hated you at the time… Mama Mai: At that time I feel like, if you want to run away, you want to learn the hard way, go ahead, run. I don’t need that kind of daughter. That’s how I feel. Jeannie: For anybody who has distance from your family member or maybe even a broken connection with your mom, you feel it. So at that time, my mom was doing her own thing and I had to find a way to reconnect with her. I finally got to where you were at that moment. I knocked at the door and as soon as the door opened, we went at it, the ugly cry, the ugly scream, the scene from “Love and Hip Hop” everything you can think of. And I said it one more time, ‘You never believed me when I needed you to.” You listened. You said, ‘What do you mean? What are you talking about?’ I said, ‘I told you this person, this family member has been touching me and has been doing things to me for years and you never helped me.’ All of a sudden you stopped and you said, ‘Tell me everything.’ And I told you everything he did. Mama Mai: I don’t know why I really listened to every single detail and I’m really shocked. This is a real thing that happened to my family. It make me feel guilty and make me feel so bad and make me cannot sleep. And I want to come over to his house. I want to punch him, I want to put him in jail. I cannot believe this happened to my daughter and she run away because I don’t believe her. I have to say I’m really sorry because I don’t know what happened. I don’t know why I loved that boy and I take care of like a real son and he do that to you. I cannot believe it. Jeannie: Mom, I obviously forgive you now. You’re my best friend. But I’ll never forget why you didn’t believe me. And even when you say that you loved him more than me because you felt bad for him, I don’t understand. Mama Mai: That’s how I feel. The only thing I can say is that I’m really sorry. The whole night I cannot sleep. And in the morning, I came over to his house. I ask him ‘Why you do that to my daughter?’ What did you do? Can you tell me what’s going on? He’s shocked and then he said, ‘I didn’t do anything. Who told you?’ I say, ‘My daughter told me. You better tell me right now before I call the police.’ I’m so mad, I just do it without you. I almost slap you and he begging me. ‘Please don’t say anything. Please don’t say anything.’ He told me forgive him because he’s too young, he doesn’t know what he’s doing. And that he know he stupid.’ Then he said, ‘Can you please tell Jeannie that we can talk so I can buy a present for her.’ Jeannie: Oh my God. Mama Mai: I try to tell him, my daughter hates people like that. And if she writes a book she’s talking about you. And I cannot stop my daughter. I feel embarrassed. What did I do to her? How come I don’t on her side? I be on your side. Right now, if I can kill you, you the first one on my list. Jeannie: I wish you told me you went to his house. That part was all I needed, that you supported me and you defended me. How come you never told me? That right there was all I needed to know that you believed me and that you listened and that you would go and try to do something about it. I know that I’m crying right now but I feel like you just set something free in me. Because you believed me enough to go to his house and say something to him. That’s all I needed to see mom! You didn’t tell me this for years. Mama Mai: The reason I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to think back again. It’s already over. Let me take care of him. I feel like if I bring it back to you, it would make you more hurt. And I don’t want that, that’s why I let it go. Jeannie: I understand you now mom, but you have to realize what he did to me, that hurt. But my own mother not believing me that hurts more. I’m so happy right now because all I needed to know is that you are behind me, you support me and you believe me. This is all I needed my entire life. My mom knows her daughter and when her daughter says she’s not okay, you will be there for me and fight for me. You can watch the full video of the conversation in the video below. Tristan Thompson: DITCHING Baby True on Her First Birthday?!

Folks, we really didn’t think it was possible, but it looks as though Tristan Thompson may have just sunk to a new low. By now you’ve probably heard that Tristan was caught cheating on Khloe Kardashian twice, and both instances took place under appalling circumstances. The first time, Khloe was pregnant with Tristan’s child. The second time — after she had naively taken him back — Tristan cheated with Jordyn Woods , the best friend of Khloe’s younger sister, Kylie Jenner. How, you may be asking yourself, is it possible for Tristan to mess with Khloe’s life any more than he already has? Why, by being a deadbeat dad, of course! To be clear, no one is accusing Tristan of stiffing Khloe on child support. Though his team often looked more like a bunch of D-league rejects this season, the Cavs are still an NBA franchise, and Tristan makes a good salary playing for them. But it seems that Tristan is dropping the ball in a different way by failing to be present for the major milestones in baby True’s life. True will celebrate her first birthday this week, and it seems Tristan is planning to be MIA for the occasion. His basketball season is over, so Tristan can’t blame his absence on work. Instead, he’s chalking it up — and we can’t believe we’re about to say this — to his intense fear of his baby mama’s family. “Tristan does not want to set foot near Khloe’s family because he knows how much they all despise him right now,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “Khloe doesn’t even want Tristan to see True, regardless of what she says.” So we guess the silver lining is that Khloe gets to enjoy the day with her daughter, and her douchey baby daddy won’t be there to spoil the memory. Still, it’s absurd that a grown-ass man is missing his daughter’s first birthday party because he’s worried about getting dirty looks from Kris Jenner. “Tristan does not want to be there for the party because he does not want to get reamed all over again,” says the source. “He’s going to do what he always does, which is try to make up for missing out by buying True expensive gifts.” And sadly, he’s probably establishing the pattern that he and True will follow for the remainder of their relationship as father and daughter. He’ll do something selfish or negligent; she’ll get angry; he’ll buy her off with expensive gifts, and the cycle will continue. We’re sure it’s a story that sounds all too familiar to many who grew up with douche bag dads. View Slideshow: Khloe Kardashian Attacks Jordyn Woods, Gets DRAGGED on Twitter

Kim Kardashian Is Going Back To School … To Become A Lawyer

Kim Kardashian West has finally figured out what she wants to be when she grows up.  At the age of 38 and with three kids at home, the reality star is giving us a MAJOR plot twist. And by major — I mean Kim just actually declared one. During a cover interview for this month’s Vogue issue, Kim opened up about a surprising life announcement … she’s becoming a lawyer.  Legit. She will actually be opening up a book and studying to become a lawyer.  The soon-to-be mother of four said she decided last summer to begin a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco, with the goal of taking the bar in 2022.  The exam that is so notoriously hard — especially in the state of California, where it spans three days — even Hilary Clinton failed it the first time around. Of course, she obviously went on to still have an extremely successful legal career — so I guess anything is possible for the reality star.  “I had to think long and hard about this,” Kim said.  The choice came from the combination of “seeing a really good result” with Alice Marie Johnson’s case while simultaneously feeling like she needed to do more. “I never in a million years thought we would get to the point of getting laws passed,” she says. “That was really a turning point for me.” Still, she knew her celebrity superpowers weren’t enough and she needed more, hence her desire to educate herself.  “The White House called me to advise me to help change the system of clemency, and I’m sitting in the Roosevelt Room with, like, a judge who had sentence criminals and a lot of really powerful people,” she explained.  “And I just sat there, like, Oh, shit. I need to know more.” Kardashian West, 38, has been working with author and CNN commentator Van Jones and attorney Jessica Jackson for months, visiting prisons, petitioning governors, and attending meetings at the White House.  Husband Kanye West already has his foot in the door there anyway — so why not!  “I would say what I had to say, about the human side and why this is so unfair. But I had attorneys with me who could back that up with all the facts of the case,” she explained.  “It’s never one person who gets things done; it’s always a collective of people and I’ve always known my role, but I just feel like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society.” “I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more,” she reasoned.  The reality star also revealed that she’s had a long interest in the subject thanks to her late father, Robert Kardashian. Robert was a businessman and attorney, who became a household name while helping defend friend O.J. Simpson in his infamous 1994 murder trial.  “On the weekend they used our home as an office, with Johnnie Cochran and Bob Shapiro,” the middle Kardashian child recalls.  “My dad had a library, and when you pushed on this wall there was this whole hidden closet room, with all of his O.J. evidence books. “On weekends I would always snoop and look through. I was really nosy about the forensics.” Ok, well hopefully Kim can at least learn in law school that evidence is not to be tampered with.  Luckily for Kim, considering she never finished college, California offers another path to passing the bar by “reading the law” or apprenticing with a practicing lawyer or judge. And according to Vogue , sometime this summer she will be taking what is known as the “baby bar” administered by the state; if she passes, she will be given the okay to continue for three more years of study.  “The reading is what really gets me,” she admits.  “It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds.” And when asked about the negative feedback she will inevitably face? “I don’t pay attention to that anymore,” she says.  “I love to be put in a situation where I can have a conversation with someone who might not be inclined to think much of me because I can guarantee they will have a different opinion and understand what’s important to me after they’ve met me.” She also has full support from her popular family members!  Kourtney Kardashian, 39, tells Vogue she thinks her sister is definitely lawyerly. “She seems to have all the answers or something like she just kind of knows,”  Kourt says. Momager Kris Jenner is on the same page as us, admitting that she “did not see this one coming.” “What didn’t surprise me was the way she embraced Miss Alice and how she was so hopeful for that outcome,” she adds. “When you find something that you’re just that passionate about, it’s not difficult; you don’t have to think about it — it just happens.” I guess we will see how difficult it proves to be this summer. While we certainly do not object to Kim furthering her education and would love to see her use her fame for something more charitable, we will be shocked if law school pans out for this socialite.  But In the wise words of Elle Woods, “You must always have faith in people, and most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself!”  View Slideshow: Kim Kardashian Reveals What Kanye Paid Her $1 Million NOT to Do
