Paris Hilton Slams Nelson Mandela Hoax, Bogus "I Have a Dream" Twitter Reaction

Former celebrity Paris Hilton was on the receiving end of a Twitter hoax Thursday involving “her” supposed reaction to the death of Nelson Mandela. “Paris” did not sound smart in her alleged Tweet, posted after Nelson Mandela died at the age of 95, and actual Paris is not happy about it whatsoever. “RIP Nelson Mandela,” the Photoshopped tweet purportedly from Hilton read. “Your ‘I Have A Dream’ speech was so inspiring. An amazing man.” That’s right, Hilton was supposedly so brick stupid that she confused Mandela with Martin Luther King Jr., or so the fake tweet would have you believe. Which more than a few people did … which isn’t all that surprising, considering the proliferation of hoaxes on Twitter, and the fact that it’s Paris Hilton. NOTE: Paris is a former celebrity who was like the Kim Kardashian of 2003-2007. The two were even friends, and their “career paths” are similar. You could say the Paris Hilton sex tape was the Kim Kardashian sex tape before the Kim Kardashian sex tape was the Kim Kardashian sex tape. In any case, a quick check of Hilton’s verified account at the time the hoax started revealed she was on a plane to Miami, and did not send the Tweet. The socialite and reality star was quick to re-tweet items debunking the hoax, which according to reports, came from another account , not hers. “Just landed & heard the sad new[s] about Nelson Mandela,” real Paris wrote. “He was a true Hero & the world is a better place because of him. May he rest in peace.” Eleven minutes later, she let loose on the Twitter hoax: “Whoever made that stupid fake tweet lacks respect to the loss the world is mourning right now.” “Same goes for all the blogs who ran with it.” In the wee hours Friday morning, Hilton was still ticked off, tweeting, “I’m so sick of people lying about me & using my name . Please get a life & stop talking about mine.” “It’s beyond. #URPathetic #GetYourOwnLife” Seriously … the girl makes a valid point. Who still talks about Paris Hilton these days? What is this, 2007? Isn’t Miley Cyrus Twerking somewhere?

Nelson Mandela is still holding on… Nelson Mandela’s Family Says He’s “Not Doing Well” Nelson Mandela has been battling a serious illness since earlier this year and his family says that while he continues to stay strong, he’s not doing too well. via Fox News Ailing former South African President Nelson Mandela is not “doing well” but is continuing to put up a courageous fight from his “deathbed,” members of his family have told the South African Broadcasting Corporation in an interview. His daughter, Makaziwe Mandela, told SABC television news: “Tata is still with us, strong, courageous. Even for a lack of a better word …. on his ‘deathbed’ he is teaching us lessons; lessons in patience, in love, lessons of tolerance. “Every moment I get with him I’m amazed. There are times where I have to pinch myself that I come from this man who is a fighter even though you can see he is struggling, but fighting spirit is still there with him.” Mandela spent almost three months in a Pretoria hospital after being admitted in June with a recurring lung infection. The 95-year-old liberation struggle icon was discharged in September and has been receiving home-based medical attention since then. For Discussion: Federal Tax Expert Says “Staying Unmarried Is Tax Shelter For Poor-Low-Income-Welfare Folks”

Tax Expert: “Staying Unmarried Is Tax Shelter For The Poor” He makes a valid point here on how “the system” works… Via CNS News: Federal tax expert Gene Steuerle said at a discussion on low-wage workers on Tuesday at the Capitol that government social welfare programs penalize low-income people for being married. “Staying unmarried is the tax shelter for the poor,” Steuerle, a fellow at the Urban Institute and former deputy assistant secretary of the Treasury for tax analysis in the Ronald Reagan administration, said at an event to release a survey commissioned by Oxfam America on low-wage workers in the United States. The survey states that 33 million Americans earn less than $10 an hour. Respondents to the survey (done by telephone from July 2 to July 9, 2013 of 804 low-wage workers) said they believe it is more common for middle-class people to fall out of the middle class (76 percent) than for low-income people to rise to the middle class (12 percent). Steuerle’s remarks followed those of Tianna Gaines-Turner, a child care worker from Philadelphia who earns $10 an hour and is raising three children with her husband, who works at a grocery store for $8 an hour. When CNSNews.com asked her to explain how she lost federal benefits when she decided to get married, Gaines-Turner shared her story. “They don’t encourage people to get married,” Gaines-Turner said. “A lot of these programs are set up for people to stay stagnated and to stay in the situation in which they are in.” Gaines-Turner explained that if she married the father of her children, who was living with them, she would lose benefits. If she told them she was living with the children’s father, the government would take action to make him pay child support and penalize her for having access to his income. “So basically I did not report that he lived in the home with us,” Gaines-Turner said. “I reported that I was a single parent. “If I had reported that he was in the home, they wanted to go after him for child support, because they want the fathers to pay to take care of their children,” said Gaines-Turner, who decided to forgo benefits to marry the father of her children.” Gaines-Turner said she thinks fathers should support their children, but couples should not be penalized for marrying and living in the same house with their children. “Unfortunately, the system is not set up – I’m not going to say reward – but it’s not set up to encourage people to have families; to build on what the American Dream is really about is family values,” Gaines-Turner said. “That’s what I was brought up on. “Family values, family dreams, is for two people who love each other to be able to get married,” Gaines-Turner said. “I wanted to show my children, especially my daughters, and my sons, that if you love this person and you want to be together, you do the right thing and you get married,” said Gaines-Turner, who also has three stepchildren. “You don’t stay shacked up. And, unfortunately, we were penalized for that,” Gaines-Turner said. SMH. Discuss…
