Megachurch Minister Joel Osteen Under Fire For Refusing To Lend Church For Houston Flood Relief

Joel Osteen Blasted For Not Opening Church Doors To Flood Victims Folks all over the nation are pretty displeased with Houston Megachurch pastor and motivational Christian speaker Joel Osteen . Even though Houston is the home base for his worldwide, multi-million dollar ministry …somehow, his Sanctuary’s doors aren’t open to those in need during record flooding in his city. The location for Osteen’s Lakewood Church was once upon a time the Compaq Center sports arena — home of the Houston Rockets — and can comfortably seat nearly 17,000 people. But, now that thousands in the city are in distress, displaced, and in need of a safe dry spot to go…the church’s doors are locked. Apparently, Osteen and crew report to TMZ that the reason the church isn’t open for those in need is due to flooding of the roads in the area. But let social media tell it… SMH! Look, we aren’t weather or road experts over here…but that definitely looks like useable space for those in need of help. Getty Images

Joyce Beatty Trolls Melania Trump at Democratic National Convention

We’re starting to feel a little bad for Melania Trump. The third wife of Donald Trump has found herself under a critical spotlight over the past several days following a controversial Republican National Convention speech. It focused on important topics such as family values and the life lessons parents ought to teach their children. But it also, admittedly, plagiarized passages from Michelle Obama’s speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.  Then, Trump removed her official website from the Internet after questions arose over a college degree she claimed to have earned in Slovenia… despite there being no proof that this actually took place. On Thursday night, meanwhile, a heretofore unknown Congresswoman from Ohio used the DNC stage to throw a bit of shade at Melania Trump. Once folks got over the whole stealing-from-Michelle-Obama thing, they turned their focus to the dress Trump donned during her speech. So much so that the $2,190 off-white Roksanda “Margot” ensemble sold out less than an hour after Trump appeared on television last week. Fast forward to last night and Rep. Beatty (D-Ohio) coming out on stage at the Wells Fargo Arena, apparently proving to the world that she was one of the lucky few people to get her hands on the outfit. Talk about a subtle, slick way to troll Trump, huh? Beatty wouldn’t come right out and admit she was sending Melania a message, however. She blamed the entire thing on her husband, telling WCMH that he had bought the dress and told her to wear it. “Now it’s blowing up all over the nation that it’s the same as Mrs. Trump’s, but I don’t know,” she said. She does, however, know how she feels about Donald Trump. During her remarks, Beatty called him “the most divisive and ill-prepared candidate we’ve seen in modern times.”

A “Lil Positivity”: Russell Wilson’s “Good Man Brand” Clothing Line Endeavors To Help Inner-City Education

Russell Wilson Founds Charity Clothing Line To Help Aid Inner-City Education Russell Wilson is butt of many a joke these days, from his “cornball brotha” personality to his refusal to smash Ciara’s supple cakes to smithereens, but one thing you can’t knock him for is his community service. The HuffingtonPost is reporting that Russell has started a clothing line that aims to helping kids learn. Gotta respect that, right? Be good. The words are easy to say, but harder to heed. So the 27-year-old NFL star, guided by his strong faith and devotion to inner-city communities, decided it was time to prove that he, too, was living by the motto. That’s where the Good Man Brand came in. With the coolly confident goal of inspiring an entire generation, Russell Wilson is teaming up his Good Man Brand with his Why Not You Foundation to launch something they hope will better lives. Using a business model similar to that of TOMS — a company known for its policy of “buy-one, give-one” — Good Man Brand opens its doors with the promise that for every item sold, it will share its profits with a charity of choice. The “Good Man Brand” is promising that $3 from every purchase will go to charity — and he’s committing now to assisting inner-city education, a cause personally selected by Wilson and his team for the tangible, immediate impact it can have on inner-city children all over the nation. There are no details as to where you’ll be able to purchase Russell’s clothes at this time, but if you happen to see it while you’re shopping for Jordan’s, pick up a shirt or something and help a child in need. Hopeydopeyontheropey: Confidence Waning in Obama

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows that American voters sure are looking for change – from Obama: Sixty-two percent of adults in the survey feel the country is on the wrong track, the highest level since before the 2008 election. Just one-third think the economy will get better over the next year, a 7-point drop from a month ago and the low point of Mr. Obama's tenure. Amid anxiety over the nation's course, support for Mr. Obama and other incumbents is eroding. For the first time, more people disapprove of Mr. Obama's job performance than approve. And 57% of voters would prefer to elect a new person to Congress than re-elect their local representatives, the highest share in 18 years. …Some 30% in the poll said they ‘do not really relate’ to Mr. Obama. Only 8% said that at the beginning of his presidency. Fewer than half give him positive marks when asked if he is ‘honest and straightforward.'’ And 49% rate him positively when asked if he has ‘strong leadership qualities,'’ down from 70% when Mr. Obama took office and a drop of 8 points since January. Just 40% rate him positively on his ‘ability to handle a crisis,’ an 11-point drop since January. Half disapprove of Mr. Obama's handling of the oil spill, including one in four Democrats. …'The results show ‘a really ugly mood and an unhappy electorate,’ said Democratic pollster Peter Hart, who conducts the Journal/NBC poll with GOP pollster Bill McInturff. 'The voters, I think, are just looking for change, and that means bad news for incumbents and in particular for the Democrats.' Yup, it’s that hopeychangey thingy, I guess. http://www.spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/6102139/hopeydopeyontheropey.thtml added by: crystalman
